Nokia C7 keeps connectig to known WIFI access points

Hi, my sis C7 keeps connecting to known WIFI's access points at our home. No online widget, wifi scanning set to off, switch to WLAN set to manual, all that settings and it still constantly reconnects to WIFI.

How to stop this behaviour other than deleting these access points?

you can't. annoying isn't it? how. hard. can. it. be. to have an on/off switch. dare i say it... like on android...

lekovodolaz wrote:delanz maybe it is the A-GPS trying to connect to get your location - did you check your location settings?

it's got nothing to do with that. the A-GPS doesn't interfere with WIFI settings at all. it's a commonly moaned about problem with this OS. it's pretty much the only thing that grates on my nerves with the C7. everything else i can take in my stride.

I do not agree 100%. The C7 supports positioning through WiFi as well. The settings can be changed in Settings-Application settings-Positioning-Positioning methods and Positioning server/Positioning server use.

so have you been able to stop the WIFI connecting automatically by changing these settings?

Tried to adjust the positioning setting. Still it connects to the WIFI. As a temporary solution, I moved the two WIFI to other destinations other than Internet in Destinations Setting. Then only it stops connecting to the WIFI.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

no i have not tried it because i never needed to.

@delanz : it is good that you found a solution is some way.

Mine does the same when I change the settings, not that I want to disconnect from wifi when I am within range. It obviously needs a software patch.

it's particularly annoying for me because I get free 3g services from my provider that fall outside my data allowance, e.g. SKYPE and a few other services. having to ponce about in settings menus to stop my phone automatically trying to hop onto wifi is irritating at the best of times.

my girlfriend is on the same network, and has an android phone that gives you a simple wifi on/off switch.
