just saw the movie "Bad company"
Chris Rock had a 9210 and every time that he made a call he spoke to the frontside ( yes the side with the phone keys 😉 )
Quite funny actually 😉

😃 oh man... i'm just about to post the same thing here... yeah it does look real stupid... i guess nobody owns a 9210 in the movie industry huh...
anyway, this was not the first time such thing happened... checkout the movie "PROOF OF LIFE" (Russell Crowe & Meg Ryan...) it's the same mistake too...

p/s: i think the best NOKIA COMMUNICATOR cameo appearance movie would still be THE SAINT... man, that was cool!!! don't u agree??? 😃

Yes, the Saint being the first recognised Communicator movie placement. But even in that they couldn't get round the fact that you had to speak "the wrong way round."

Maybe they're all afraid of the majority of of phone users laughing because the are using it the wrong way round?

😃 well dude... to tell u the truth, i was laughed at several times when i first use the communicator...

first, they thought its a TV REMOTE...second, they thought i was using it the wrong way... but the laughter ends when i use the pda side... heheheh... it became "whoaaa.... look at that..." 😉

Yip, the 9210 is the one gadget above all others that has the wow factor amongst jo(e) public most of the time. However, when in the company of geeks it gets less respect I find, mainly because of the size and lack of GPRS 😊

The geek crowd seem more impressed by the iPaq I have which is highly customised, replete in a custom made Silver Surfer Jacket holding a spare battery and a 1Gb MicroDrive, plus a custom machined stainless steel stylus. That always goes down well, as does the DiskOnKey USB flash RAM storage device I carry around on my keychain, it has 64Mb of storage, is driverless on everything but Win98 (spit) and works under MacOS, Linux and Windows variants. I pop it in a USB slot and have a removable drive of my own, with some nifty encryption routines, and a very small email client (Popcorn) which is very efficient at letting me check mulitple POP boxes whilst on the move without taking the more insecure web route.

Oh, and the absolutely most wowed at gadget I possess for everyone who sees them, and tries them, are the Olympus EyeTrek FMD-700 LCD specs. See them at

I would be totally lost without them, great for watching DVD movies in bed whilst the wife is asleep 😊

correct me if i'm wrong... i think MI2 has also a last scene using a communicator at the wrong side!! 😊

I have to laugh at the number of people who use the wrong side of my communicator to make a phone call, all notions of "you are speaking into the wrong side" are gone when I open the lid and go into speakerphone mode 😉
