When I try to "send as" pictures via bluetooth my P800 searches for available devices but is unable to find any. This is even though I am connected and can use "My P800" on my PC to transfer the pictures. I'd like to sort this just in case I need to send piccy's to another phone from my P800.
I use a TDK PC card and have TDK s/w version 1.3.2.19 and SonyEricsson s/w 1.1.0 with XP (I'm unable to install 1.3.1,and have a support call in to SE support - I'll let you all know what the solution is).
Help please!
It is likely that your PC can only handle one type of bluetooth connection at once. you should disconnect the bluetooth serial port before you try and send pictures.
Andy
Many thanks Andy - that worked fine. 😃
Oh man, I just can't send pics full stop ( . ) I keep getting the error " failed to transmit" etc. I've tried with 3 different pc bluetooth dongles and it failed with everyone.. any ideas?
No problems Inspector, glad to help,
Slayorrrr, sounds like you are going to be a bit more complicated. First off, which bluetooth software are you running? If it is the widcomm stack (version 1.3.2.7 and possibly higher) you need to ensure that in your "Bluetooth Configuration", on the "Local Services" tab you have the PIM Item Transfer running at startup, and in its properties you should have set "Received Items - All other types" set to "Save to folder"
If its a lower version of Widcomm, you should have a search through the 7650 forum for "Accept Other", and that gives details of a registry setting that you can set to allow the PC to accept your pictures.
Hope this helps.
Andy.
hey andy ( again ). Thanks for your advice. I've got a belkin usb dongle, and i've tried adding the accept others key in the reg edit. All of which made no difference  Anyways, i'm interested in what you were saying bout the bluetooth configeration. I've had a look and i don't appear to have a PIM item transfer option in the "local services" tab. There is a "file transfer" option and that is set to startup...
Can you help me anymore!? Cheers pal..
P.S. do you know where I can get the latest widcom drivers, the link on that 7650 site didn't seem to work..
Hi Slayorrrrr. (again) 😊
These are the drivers that I'm using right now:
http://support.rfi.de/support/SF_ANYCOM.NSF/318a3262fbfcf078c1256a4c00581cbc/643d23be7f9b33f6c1256bcd00314cab/$FILE/acbtusb.exe
(nice URL) The download is about 10MB.
The PIM item transfer bit seems to be a recent addition to the drivers, so if you haven't got it, its worth trying the latest ones.
Good luck
A.
Ok andy i'm downloading now. I don't know how long it'll take though, the server must be really busy coz i'm getting a transfer rate of 700bytes/sec!
This could take some time... incidentally last time i downloaded this file it didn't seem to have the data1.cab file! see how it goes this time...
Cheers...
Weird bluetooth transfer problem, I can send to the 7650 without any problems but it wount send to the 3650. I dont know why. When I sent it via IR it transfered without any problems to the 3650. I wasnt paired with the 7650. I was paired with my gf's 3650.
Also this probem happend after the upgrade on my firmware versions. Prior to that I could send to the 3650 with no probs.
Andy, I'm getting the same problem with downloading acbtusb.exe as i did last time, being that the download completes after 8.51mb not the 9.64mb that is stated as the file size... hence it doesn't install properly! dammit!!
Slayorrrr, I've tried to send you a couple of private messages saying that I can email the file to you, but they dont seem to get through - just end up in my outbox.
Check your profile to see if PMs are enabled and we'll sort something out.
Andy
Andy,
Just got your message (s). I tried replying but got the same problem that you had. Anyway, I'm not sure if it's possible to mail a file that big. Incidentally i'm using an ISDN connection so it's not very fast anyway, I think this may have something to do with the problem i'm having downloading it... because i tried it on another pc using a 56k modem and the transfer cut-off even quicker than mine did.
Are you using broadband then? Anyways the FTP thing seems like a good idea but you'll have to run me through the process. I'm gonna have one last go at downloading the file tonight using dual channel ISDN as opposed the single channel that i have been using, I'll let you know the result.
slayorr
Success! All is good, i've managed to download the file at last and it did the trick. It's solved all the bluetooth related problems i had!
Thanks andy for your help with this, I owe ya one! 😃
WooHoo!
Glad you got it working. I've got your PMs, and was about to setup an ftpserver, but that has saved me a job this morning.
Enjoy your bluetooth!
Andy!
Man I hate this. Hey andy can you help me out? I can send files to my PC without any problems. My problem now is I cant send files from my PC to the P800 via bluetooth. It says, failed to connect. I checked and for the services available for my P800 and file transfer isnt available. WIth the N3650 of my gf, send/rcv without any problems. She has the filetransfer service avaialble though.
HEEELLLLPPPP :x
It also says here under bluetooth services that the P800 doesnt have the Filetransfer service
http://www.sonyericssonp800.com/
I can try....
On your PC go to: My Bluetooth Places (I'm assuming that you are using the Widcomm drivers)
Go to: Entire Bluetooth Neighborhood
Drag and drop a file onto the icon of your P800. Works for me every time, whether I have the serial port connected or not.
Good luck
Andy
Ok heres what I did as an experiment. I went to my GF's house. She has a billionton as well. I paired it with my P800 and voila, no problems sending and recieving files. Even if I dont have the file transfer protocol I still could send the files. So there must be something wrong with my setup. You see I have a PC and my Laptop in the same room at night. One has the Billionton and the other has the MSI bluetooth key. I dont know if its because of this. Still have to try.
Problem solved!! 😊 I repaired them 😊 Whew!! Thanks for your help though!! 😊
Hi Andy - I'm yet another newbie looking for some help...
I can send files via BT from the phone to the computer, but not the other way round - everytime I try to start a serial port connection it tells me the phone ends it 😞 I tried just dragging and dropping a file onto the P800 icon, but it wouldn't let me do it.
My BT adapter is from ebuyer - http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=46391 - and nothing special I don't think, but I don't have the PC Suite installed (I'm running a relatively old Win'98 machine, and the latest compatible version of the SE software turned it into electronic treacle 😞 ) Is this maybe the cause of my problems?
I'd really like to be able to transfer files to and from the phone; any help you could give me would be hugely appreciated! 😃
Hi,
From the product description on eBuyer, it looks like you've got a Tecom dongle. You might have some old Bluetooth drivers, so best advice would be to upgrade to the latest ones:
http://support.rfi.de/support/SF_ANYCOM.NSF/318a3262fbfcf078c1256a4c00581cbc/643d23be7f9b33f6c1256bcd00314cab/$FILE/acbtusb.exe
These should work for your dongle, they seem to work for most people.
Since its sending files to the phone that is the problem try double clicking on your P800 icon. You should see a collection of icons (the icons that you see will be dependant on the version of drivers that you have installed on your PC). Try dragging and dropping the file onto an "inbox" icon, or maybe an "OBEX" icon. That might work.
On your P800, in the bluetooth settings make sure that the Operation Mode is set to "On" or "Discoverable" and that the "Receiving Items" is set to "Ask First" or "Always Receive"
Good luck, let us know how you get on.
Andy
Hi Andy, thanks for replying,
I downloaded the drivers from the link you gave, but when I tried to update the ones I'm currently using it told me mine were still the best. You were right about it being a Tecom dongle, so I went to the Tecom site www.tecomproduct.com but their support pages won't load and so I can't find out if they've posted any new drivers. Mine claim to be 8-27-2002, so I'm thinking there really must be something newer (assuming that's the date they were written). Should I overrule Window's suggestions and just install the drivers from your link?
When I double click the P800 icon, I have three icons to choose from - "Bluetooth Serial Port", "Inbox" and "Dial-up Networking". There's no "OBEX" icon, and it won't let me drag and drop files onto any of the three :-?
The bluetooth settings on the phone are all set as you said they should be.
Help! 😞
First thing to try is to double click on the "inbox" icon and then drag and drop your file into there. That used to work when I had an older version of the drivers. If this works, I should stick with your current drivers!
If that still doesnt work you should try to persuade windows to use the new drivers that you have downloaded. Best way to do it would be to remove your dongle. Uninstall current drivers. reboot your machine, install new drivers, then plug in your dongle. Make sure that when the dongle is found it uses the Asus drivers.
Good luck (again)
A.
Ah-ha! When I double clicked on "Inbox", I could drag & drop files into it and have them transfer over to the P800 - thanks Andy! But when I right-click on a file and choose "Send To" > "Bluetooth" a box appears from which I'm obviously supposed to choose the P800, but nothing is listed. I can click the refresh button as many times as I like, but it never finds the phone 😞
Hope you don't mind all these questions; thanks again for your help 😃
Glad you got it sorted out!
I think that the Right click, Send to -> Bluetooth relies on one of the bluetooth profiles that the P800 doesn't support. Might be the FTP profile. Updating your drivers wouldnt help fix that, since it's a P800 issue.
Cheers
Andy
I've eventually got my phone and PC's sending to each other via bluetooth. Only problem I have now is usign the Serial connection. On my PC at work (win 2k) it connects fine but then Disconnects everytime after excatly 34 seconds.. The same PC connects to my mates T68 fine and holds the connection. On my PC at home (XP) I had it connecting buit it again disconnects, yesterday I tried the serial connection and it wouldn't connect at all.
At work it gives an error but then connects (common problem I've read) at home the phone says it's connected but the PC says not. Then the phone drops connection.
The serial port seems to be a bugger for some people. For some reason once I've booted my PC, the first time I try to connect the serial port, it times out, and wont try again. The only way to get it working is to remove the dongle, then plug it back in again. Once I've done that its as reliable as reliable can be.
I think that I remember Andy_P saying that he was getting frequent disconnects. He solved this by updating his drivers to the latest ones. The link a few messages up might help. Its certainly worth a try.
edit: Meant to say, the disconnect is normal. Its the way the P800 works. The Computer calls the P800, the P800 gets connection info, then kills the connection and calls the computer back.
Good Luck
A.
Hi,
Many thanks for the quick repsonse. I've got a Blutake BT Dongle. I donwloaded the latest drivers (Widcomm 1.3. something).. Fairly sure it's got to be a Driver issue. What other drivers should I try with this dongle? Ones above? Or perhaps just trial and error with them all?
Thanks again.
The drivers above are Widcomm version 1.3.2.7 If you're already on those, I'm not sure what the answer will be! There are other drivers that don't use the widcomm stack. It might be worth trying those. Have a search in the 7650 forum for the Bluemanager drivers. You might have some luck.
Cheers
Andy
Mine does disconnect under heavy load but will sometimes idle for most of the day. Infrequently now I stop getting the message about it disconnecting and it often works.
My personal theory (which are normally wrong) is that it's on a cycle - if the p800 disconnects the connection instead of the PC, trying to reenable it with the PC always fails, but will always connect the second time, as if it's disconnecting the pc first time, then reconnecting.
Be wary also of the difference between the drivers and the software for bluetooth - in the thread above I think someone is trying to do an Update Driver and pointing to the files in the actusb.exe file - this won't work.
You need to run the installer it presents and install the bt stack, mine is still running the original (but latest) drivers for the usb dongle (dlink dbt-120) but the latest bt stack and it's fairly reliable.
Except now Im getting btstack_something or other not closing on shutdown. Not a major problem though.
THANKS ephebe THANKSSS YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!
