I got my p800 flashed the other day and got the following (They said this is the upgrade to 2.1 and said it wasn't official available yet)
Phone: CXC162002 R2D
Bluetooth: CXC12529 R2C
Organiser: CXC162001 R2A11
CDA (went back to): CDA162001/5 R1B02
Is this 2.1?? or What??
Phone was R1G prior to this flash..

Does this phne have and old version of the OS / Software and is it worth me going back to Vodafone and ask for a phone with the latest revisions ?
What are the advantages between the sofwatre on my phone compared to the latest revision (assuming that mine is not the latest).

Yours is definately not the latest. However if Voda says it is, its ok. Different firmware versions work best with different networks. However the latest fw have SMS reports and improved VideoPLayback (fullScreen). If you have this then you are alright.

Which version is this? Just took mine to the authorized SE place to have mine upgraded to R1G.. Its not as new as the one above but will it have these that you mentioned? Do you have them? If so which one are you using? 😊

Yes. There are. The P800 at Cebit had the latest version. I think but am not sure it was R2A.
but this isn't actually released yet...
I am not convinced that anyone (non-SE) has got a R2.x phone revision yet.

To bring up again an old story: this thread (and several others with the same content) shows very clearly, that the current update mechanism for the firmware is bad, very bad.
There is no option to download the newest SE firmware and install it yourself (I saw no good reason for this so far) and even worse: there is no offical (online) SE source to check what version is the last one and what are the changes between the different versions. Compare this to any PDA - where you get the updates for free as a download and where you can easily check for the version changes...
Someone wrote, that SE has the best customer support...
just phone SE(UK) and the update is R1B for the phone and R1G05 for the organiser which I already have.
My phone version is R1D and SE said that their latest update is R1B. Does this make sense?

after the upgrade it seems that the backups run smoother...

Before anything, the previous ST@RR post was posted by me, again I was using her computer 😊 I just got mine upgraded today too 😊 It took 3 hrs. Erased all my memory on the phone but I was prepared for this already 😊 (Backup ready) Restored everything 😊 It was cool because it even restored my last Handy Day Color Scheme 😊 Had one problem while restoring though, it mentioned that it couldn't find the folder d:\audio\mymp3s which was a folder I created a long time ago. I just pressed skip file and it continued smoothly after that 😊

I had exactly the same problem with my D:\audio\mp3 folder. I assumed it was because some of the files in there are several MB in size.
Really? Well Ill just have to create it again I guess 😊
I called SE(UK) several times but they gave me a different answer. 1 said that they isn't an upgrade at the moment, another said that R1G is the latest which I already have. As for the one that mentioned R1B, I don't think she was too bothered after I questioned her about this. I even sain R for Romeo, 1 , B for bravo? oh well...
I called my local (miles away) SE service centre in Wimbledon and they said it takes 2 hours to upgrade the firmware, and to check if a firmware needed an update, they need to plug it into their computer.
Weird, here's a problem I got after the upgrade.
Before: When I plug my phone on the cradle which is connected to the laptop it usually connects right away and the laptop would ask me if I wanted to backup my PC.
Now: It seems to have a hard time connecting. It takes a very long time, on the connection monitor it just keeps on sayinh connecting.. I had it connect twice, what I had to do the first time was restart my phone while on the cradle, the next one was open my flip while on the cradle, anyone had this problem too?
I am also getting this error on my phone after backup 😞 Well actually I started getting this error around the same time I changed my sync version 1.3.1, I thought the upgrade of my phine would help but its still there.

I think you'll find that was me, and whilst I hate to be the one with the sour perspective, I am still waiting for proof 😊
Don't get me wrong, I hope you have got it, but the ones at CeBit were R2A and I would be surprised if SE had got to R2D already.
Would you like to show me a screen shot of where you can add SMS delivery reports (confirmed for 2.x) or any extra camera options?

Me, I had these kind of problems once a long while after I install the Mobi Reader softwares, I think it is interfering with the sync software for the phone's attention. 😛
This doesn't appear to be the big UIQ 2.1 upgrade, but it is nice to see that they actually improved some of the functions in this firmware update.
If this was the famous UIQ 2.1 upgrade you should have noticed a radical change in the appearence of the UI, with the ability to have a background picture in the applications list etc...
