Finally took the plunge and paid the ridiculously high price for a shiny silver E7. I am upgrading from an E5, which I think has been the best Nokia E phone ever, simply because it never crashed, hanged or memory out. So I was pleased with it as I had problems with the old E71 and N97 mini.
I use the Nokia Mail app a lot for work and one of the most important things i needed was the ability to change the 'reply to' address. This was present on my old E71, E52 and E5.
But when i setup my Gmail account, which was easy like the previous phones, i quickly found out that there was no option to change the 'reply to' address.
That was my primary requirement and was present on all my old Nokia E phones.
As I can't return the phone, I am stuck with it and I am missing my E5 already.
Does anyone know a way around this? Or is there another email app which can do it? I know Profimail can but i am not too keen on it as I tried it on my android phone.
I was going to suggest Profimail, sorry. Maybe it's just a case of getting used to the UI, it's certainly the most comprehensive mobile mail app I've used and have been doing so since N95 through N97 to N8. The 'Reply-to email' option is definitely there and you can also set up multiple identities which I use a lot. Push, full folder management, no limit on attachments, and a ton of other features that other mail clients don't support. I believe that you can try before you buy.
ok. i have searched OVi for this app and it doesn't show it?
i checked the profimail website and it allows you to download it but how do i install it on the E7?
Ok so i want to use this app as it is supposed to be the best for Symbian.
When i search OVI store for this, it says not found?
Is it not available for the E7?
Open this link on your phone's browser: http://www.lonelycatgames.com/download/profimail/profimail_symbian_lcg_3_40.zip
Your phone should automatically open the zip that will be downloaded where you'll see ProfiMail S60 3rd+5th ed.sisx, run that to install.
When you have your inbox open, Options > Settings > [Your mailbox] > Mailbox settings.
You should have an option to set your Reply-to address there.
When you have your inbox open, Options > Settings > [Your mailbox] > Mailbox settings. You should have an option to set your Reply-to address there.
I have 2 mailboxes on my C7. The first (straightforward POP3) provides a Reply-To setting, the second (a Gmail account) does not.
Is the Gmail account set to use push email through Nokia Messaging? That could be the reason behind the missing setting.
Mine uses IMAP only (you have to decline the last option when setting up the account) and it definitely has a reply-to setting. It's the same with another hosted IMAP account. You lose push email by going through IMAP but you can set the auto-retrieval interval, helps save battery power too.
very strange that by declining the T&C for Nokia Messaging, you get more functionality....another of Nokia's strange characteristics.
Anyway, thanks to all. I am now a happy man!
