If you say the file size could go up to 500k in Lite version and has no limit in Pro version, then you may create problems with the MMS client. That protocol is not made to transfer files which are larger than around 200kB, have you tested MMS send and receive with such sizes?
Would you consider IR or BT transfer of the files?

There is a special MMS mode which sets a size limit and cuts off the recording upon reaching that limit. By default we set it at slightly under 50KB which should allow between 10~15 seconds of video with audio. And yes, MMS has been tested quite extensively and works well. The UI even offers tight address book integration. IR and BT transfer are also enabled in the Pro version, as well as sending via email.
I'm confused now. In the first post you talk about films of 1 to 3 minutes in Lite version, most probably creating video files around 500kB. Now you're talking about 10 to 15 seconds or files around 50kB.
What is then feasible? And have you really tested a transfer of a 500kB video file using 7650 MMS client?
thanks for clarifying!

Hi Mig
Sorry for the confusion. The 10 to 15 seconds thing refers to MMS mode recording which is a special mode that sets a 45KB recording limit per message. This is used to prevent recording beyond the allowed size of your MMS service which is typically below 100KB and in some countries less than 50KB. Also this mode uses AMR audio compression for better voice processing and smaller file size, and the video is also tuned to have achieve better compression. As the result, between 10 to 15 seconds (sometimes maybe longer) of audio and video can be recorded within the 45KB limit. The longer recording time (1 minute and beyond) is achieved via recording in the non-MMS mode which is the default.
Transfering 500KB of video over MMS is not possible. Our enhanced video messaging solution, on the other hand, offers this capability. We license that solution to telcos and they in turn will offer it as an upgraded service to their customers. We also plan to establish such a service ourselves in the next few months so we can service our paid customers.
I hope this clearifies it?
Thanks for that clarification. I wonder now on what protocol you'd sent a 500kB file from mobile to mobile. Email yes, but it's a bit tedious to me. Or would it be with handsets having TCP/IP stack over SIP perhaps? Any idea?
thanks
Does it run through anyone elses mind that this seems all too good to be true?

Hmmmm. Maybe. In all honesty, I don't think my 7650 would have the capacity to deal with such an app. When we're talking figures of 500kb for a video on top of the actual size of the app, then i don't reckon many people will have enough memory to cope.
The point of the video app, for me at least, is that it's spontaneous. I never *think* about taking a video, those classic moments just happen and i'm there with my video.

I'd be interested in trying out the program and buying it if it's as good as it sounds... I've tried all the other available programs and this one sounds a vast improvement... especially the conversion program the hatro 3gp format is crap...
Have you any screen shots or demo views of the program?
Where will we be able to get this from when you release it?
Thanks
SK
It would be a lot more usable on the 3650.
But is see a market for this program for 7650 users too,i would buy it for one.You can always use it in your house, one some occasions when (Naked ladies 😃 )the camera is missing, you know, make some space by uninstalling couple of apps and record a couple of videos.

Hi nk8,
That's the idea! When we built the program we wanted it to be a "pleasent" surprise to our users. Just stay tuned!

I certianly hope my program will serve you better... anyway, here are some screenshots.

Mmmmmmmmm Duff!!!
Those screen shocks look very tasty. 😃
Yeah they look very good. But after all MPEG 4 is far superior to MPEG1 so the quality will be good. Just one question what resolutions will the video be recorded and can you make it a sound recorder (only) too because the amr is too loosy so we can use the adpcm your program has with the far superior quality (almost identical to the standard PCM)
That image almost looks too good to be true....... 😮
Whats the frame rate at quality like that?
Hmmm, any chance of a pre-release demo?
Come on, give us a demo 😉
Will
so when this app will be released to public?

They do look good... didn't mention that long ago 😉 Audio only recording is easily supported, except we haven't figured out how to do it without cluttering the interface. The app's current UI is very clean and straightfoward and barely reminds you that you are dealing with a computing device - for example, compare the browser with other programs - do you see dumb things like "video(1).3gp"? On the other hand we have a very flexible video engine and it is so difficult to resist the desire of putting up a complex option dialog that enables all possible configurations...

Patience, Willy. That's the idea of a "teaser!" 😃 I can't disclose too much technical details at this point, but I ensure you can record video that's as smooth as the Nokia one - definitely better than the jerky ones from Nancy and Philips. As for the image quality... it's purely subjective, but I think in "High Quality" setting the picture is not worse compared to that of the view finder image (uncompressed) and in some instances even better. At that mode one second of a video is around 6~8KB (audio is additional 4KB unfortunately.) As I mentioned earlier, the pre-final will be ready in two weeks.

my bad
Ok this may sounds to early to ask but will it be compatible with feature series 60 devices like the samsung 700 and the siemens sx1?
Good point. Take into account that the colour screen is 65k which means more colours. Saying that, there were some programs that diosplayed wrong colours on the screen due to the increased number of colours. So watch out!

Hi 3ddy,
What do you mean "try an option webcam?" Can you explain it? Thanks.
I mean an option that turns 7650 to a web cam as willbrady explained 😉
Can be done but the frame rate will be limited... current GPRS uplink is very slow. 😞
yep but I actually meant when you connect with bt or ir(it is useless when we consider the sight range) you can use your 7650 as web cam for your pc but being a standalone webcam is very great idea guest 😉
having a worse quality but faster frame rate will be the solution maybe 😊
Here is a way of using 7650 as a web cam:
Open Remote S60 over BT, then launch Camera.. You will see on PC what 7650 camera capture. Now, if you want to show screen to someone realtime over internet, open MSN find contact and send Remote assistance to use..If user accept, now he/she will see your desktop.. so your remote S60..so your camera..and what you see in camera..
what a way ha.. 😊
I know it is funny way but it works...he he.. 😉

Good question! That's exactly what we are dying to find out as well. Just received our first sx1 from Siemens but those guys forgot to send the charger along...
As for colors my guess is that we should be ok as we output 16-bit color to begin with... for that reason in the begining some of our better quality videos actually looked worse on the Nokia because there are lots of contours... finally worked around that though so all videos now look smooth even on the 4K color screen.

Ok when you finish the development for the siemens could you sent the sx1 to me? I'll send you my address soon... 😃 😃 😃
Any news about the P800 version? I am pretty sure you would sell a lot better on that mobile phone since there is nothing available at the moment and users of the P800 are willing to buy even at higher prices given that P800 is almost douple the price of a 3650!
Looking forward to here about video recording for my P800 than my 3650! 😃
Was it a lie the existance of a powerfull video recording program that you described in this thread? :agrue:

will we be able to record on the memory stick duo of the p800?
