This alarm volume thing is really starting to hack me off!!!
My alarm volume is hardly audible, my ring volume is manually set and not "increasing"; my friend's P800 has all the settings exactly the same as mine and his alarm volume increases and decreases repeatedly whilst sounding (but it's still not very loud)
He's the tecnical manager for Vodafone and he can't find how to set this!
Surely there is some way to set the alarm volume properly?

did u assign your own ringtone? Maybe its the volume of the ringtone? Try increasing the volume of the ringtone using sound edit or whatever and try again.
Also, another point on alarms. I find that it is stupid for an alarm not to ring if you have the phone on silent. Back in the Nokia days, alarm tone did go off even if set to silent mode. I dont want to set the phone to flight mode cos i might miss a call.
I had the same problem with ring volumes initially.
Solved it by selecting a different ringtone and preset volume, then switching back to my original settings. Has worked fine after that.
I have found no way of increasing the alarm sound other than recording a very loud file as suggested by Tissue above.
I also find it vaguely irritating that the phone has to be on for the alarm to work; having been used to Nokias that you could power off overnight but would wake up to wake you up. Was handy if I was travelling for just a weekend and didn't want to take a charger.
Of course, the P800 is somewhat more complicated than the previous phones...
Can someone just confirm, to make sure I am understanding properly, if I set the alarm but turn the phone off, it won't go off?
That is my understanding from the manual, but I have not actually tried it.
I suppose I could turn my phone off for ten minutes...
...
no, can't bring myself to turn off my phone to test it.
someone else will have to try!!
😮
Just tried it out to make sure... it definitely doesn't work with the phone turned off.

Certainly hope SonyEricsson will consider with their next phone to set alarm even phone is off. I find it to be very useful function
This would be a very usefull function but why cant you just leave your phone on? 😊 I leave mine on, it stays on the cradle beside my bed so it doesnt discharge. If you dont want to be bothered by calls and messages, you can set it to flight-mode.

Used to be handy when you are travelling for just 3 days -- I do this a fair amount -- off on Thursday night and back Monday morning. Generally you can travel light, and the phone will just last. Turning it off at night means you can save a few hours of extra life in the battery and not have to carry a charger.
I know the charger is light but every gram counts! 😃
😮
I've read this somewhere else. Apparently SE had so much trouble getting that to work, they just didn't bother anymore.
I guess my P800 is like my home pc, if you switch it off, it's off.
Sfar as I can see, only way to affect the alarm volume is to change the multimedia volume. Annoying but no other option?
But is there also a way to change the volume of SMS alerts? This doesn't seem to be affected by the multimedia volume.
Ahhh, sorry, just checked and this doesn't work either. Yep, alarm volume and SMS volume are necessary but lacking features.
Download/choose an SMS sound that is louder?

Because of the bright green light. It makes my room look completely green and lighted up.... But I agree it's better to have it in the cradle, otherwise the green light is flashing! That's even more irritating when you're trying to sleep :fadein:
attached is the alarm tone i'm using, its damp loud, should meet your needs. Its a wav file, download and rename by remove the zip. Its like the nokia special sms tone.
Thanx mate!!!!!! That ringtone is quite nice 😃
I clicked on the link and it brings me to a blank page..
Can someone send me the file?
