My SE P800 together with the 64 MB memory duo card was stolen from under my nose on Friday. I am absolutely devastated by it all. Should any of you choose to be a Sherlock Holmes, the serial number is 350443-10-406021-3. Next time around, I'd have to chain it to my wrist.
Tragedy And Trauma - P800 Stolen
Sorry to hear that! My P800 is never more than 1 metre away from me...
Hopefully you've got it covered under insurance and get a new one with the latest firmware....
While I have made a police report on the matter, I am wondering if there is a way of tracking the thief? I know laptops can be tracked via the internet when the culprit is online but has anyone heard of handphones being tracked? Meanwhile, I am trying to cheer myself up with the consolation that it's covered by credit card insurance (only 50%). Maybe I ought to further console myself and just buy a new P800 with a 128 MB memory duo card. You know how some people will just buy and buy to cheer themselves up. Can someone tell me where I can get a 128 MB memory duo stick? I really need the cheering up.
😃
Yep, you can pre-order a 128MB stick from www.p800er.com and they'll email you with a link when they have stock...
I see you are in Kuala Lumpar. Here in the UK they have opened the IMEI database, so any handset stolen is immediately barred by all networks. Doesn't stop the phones being stolen, but you do feel some small satisfaction that the bastard can't use it.
at least on the UK, he can still sell it to a turist going overseas
Spoke to the Malaysian telco operator MAXIS to see if the stolen P800 could be tracked and they said, "No." Can someone explain if the hp would send data to the telcos indicating its IMEI serial number each time a call is placed?
You are out of luck, phones cannot be traced, not even in Singapore. They just tell you to buy insurance, BTW how did your phone get stolen?
I go to JB often and got my NT720 stolen, I am carrying a P800 now.
Apparently they can halt service in UK and Australia, I am told. And this works between the Police Department and the telco operator. P800 was literally stolen from under my nose. Mind you, it was in a house of prayer where I had put the P800 just by my side. Somehow a member of the congregation just whisked it off me. May the Almighty accord him 1000 lashes.
Anyway, just got myself a brand new spanking P800. Charging it now. Next, I will be heading to get a 64 MB memory duo card from another shop in a different location. Tonight will be a real Saturday night fever as I upload and programme the P800 the way I had it before. Thankfully, the shop has had the firmware upgraded this morning. It's being an expensive weekend but really I need the cheering up.
If you are in Kuala isnt that just a train ride away from singapore? 😊 Then you can shop there 😊
:x in a house of prayer ??? must be the devil in disguise!!! Since theres not many places in Malaysia to upgrade the P800 u might as well inform them to keep an eye too... especially ERICSERVE at Amcorp Mall... coz dude, theres still many more upgrades to come... hehehe...
p/s: sembahyang pun bawak phone ka?? apa la lu... hehehe...
Norseferatu, you are funny, but the real devil in disguise, is the one who stole the phone.
Ghazalie, maybe the devil in disguise, wants to use the P800 to talk to Setan.
Maybe he thinks he can get a clearer reception with the Almighty using a P800. Leaving the P800 in the car and under the blazing hot sun was not my idea of taking good care of the precious little thing. Now compiling all the necessary for the insurance claim.
I am surprised by the number of malaysians at this forum!! am I "sua-ku" or what? anyway... "MALAYSIA BOLEH!!" ... hehe... apinch of patriotism!
Good luck with your claim Ghazalie 😃 Hope you get some money back.
Am told 50 per cent ...
1. how did it get stolen under your nose?
(I want to know, in order to avoid a similar mis-hap).
2. I put a code when the phone is turned on. They'll have to turn it off to get the SIM out, and when they turn it on - they would have to know the code. It won't avoid them getting the phone, but at least they won't enjoy it.
