DUO in HK

Hey,

Anyone know where i can get cheap 128mb DUOs in HK? Some guy posted this from ShumShuiPo (spelling?). Are there any from that computer shop in Wan chi (spelling?) If so, how much? I have a mate coming back from there and hopeully get a guide to where i can get them cheap.

I've seen $390 (US$50) in 2/F Mongkok Comp Ctr for 64Mb and not yet for 128Mb. But there is no warranty, that means, if you open it and its not working, no replacement even in front of the shop.

Therefore, I purchased at normal price. Normal price with warranty are $480 ($61) for 64Mb and $780($100) for 128Mb and those are all over the Market.

Eric,

I dont mind if they are around $700 for 128MB as long as i get warranty (internationally preferrably). My mate is staying in Wan Chai (found out the spelling 😊 ) and would like to know if they have them there for that price. Or the cheapest price available but with warranty 😊
What about ShumShuiPo place? Is it really $650? And does it have warranty? Can someone please find out?

cheers

If $390 for 64Mb, its reasonable to have $690 for 128Mb. But I won't buy it without warranty or replacement.

For warranted products, $780 is about the lowest for 128Mb. I have seen that in Wanchai, Mongkok, and Shamshuipo for at least the last 2 weeks.

As stated in another post, there are different warranty, the one I got is having local agents' warranty. That means, they are willing to replace or repair in case you have problem with your MSD. The one with international warranty cost about $850 (US$109).

Where can i get an international mem stick from? Can i get them from Broadway or Fortress?
Do u think its a good risk to get the $650 with no warranty? What are the chances of a faulty Sony mem stick?

Wow those are really cheap 128 duos, I was thinking about getting another one but then they were like $850 and I now I am reconsidering since they are like $600+ only. Where is that shop? And yes there are in the Wan Chai computer centre.

650! that's cheap, but no warranty... hmmm.
I got mine in Windsor House in Causeway Bay, on the 11th Floor for $780. I think the name of the place was Master OA. Good service.

Fortress don't have them yet and not sure about Broadway. I won't buy it without warranty. The MSD is already very expensive compare to other media, I don't feel like risking HK$100 for something useless.

Oh, basically there are stores selling MSD carrying Int. warranty in Mongkok as well as other computer centres around the cities. Broadway should certainly have international warranty if they carry the product.

Wow, I did not think that many Hong Kongers would be going in the forums here...every Sunday when I go to church (ICA), I see like 5 different people with their P800's taking notes of the sermon and some of them even hang them by the neck!!! Do any of you go to ICA by any chance?

I would be in bed on Sunday morning, and not Church (What's ICA?). I think I only saw a few using P800 on the street. Nice to see all of you on the forum 😉

The most cheering place where I saw more than a few people with P800 in their hands was the SE Repairs Centre. 😉

Other than in lucky hands of owners like us, the most P800 I saw were demo in the hands of the shop sales at Fortress or Broadway.

Love that rarity of P800; most people in town are with those silly Nokia.

I know what you mean P800 writer, went to the SE service centre in Causeway Bay and I saw 3 people with thier P800s when I was bringing in my phone for a LCD cleaning and then when I came back after 4 hours to collect my phone, I saw another 2 people with thier P800s. But doesn't that make you guys feel great seeing other people enjoying the most wonderful phone along with you. Yeah it is so sad that Hong Kong people give lots more notice to Nokias. My friend bought a 6610 and then bought the 7250 just for the camera feature, now he regrets getting the phone because he feels ripped off because of the lack of the changes/improvments in the two different phones. Now he is planning to get the P800 next week...Cool eh?!? We should be warning our friends about how buying Nokia rips you off and encourage them to buy SE phones and help them realize that SE has some great phones which are worth looking at...

LCD cleaning? What's the problem with the LCD, dust caught inside?

Very true. Probably better let our friends know what is best available in market that most suit their needs. People buy phones because of advertising, looks (shell changable), price, popularity, after-sell support, gadget support, peer pressure or resell value. It's no argue that Nokia holds value better than most other brands, the reason is that I don't know why (Mainland Chinese users love them that much?).

The most important is, we make them clear about what they are looking for. Software of Nokia remains basically unchanged for years and people fear of changes have no problem continuing to stay with Nokia's so-called 'new models'. Yeah this keeps ripping them off very badly. 😊

Complex phones like P800 is like the Bimmer 7 series, technologically overkill for Mr average. It need you to spend hours (months?) studying the manual or searching fourms to figure out how to please or manipulate the phone best. Well I consider it the most fun of owning a P800. 😉

Couldn't agree more with you. For the last few years, Nokia just keep releasing new phones in different shapes and colors but no interface breakthrough. Recently, I tried 7250 and the menu system is basically the same with 8810 (some 4 years ago). The joke is the images stored in its 5mb memory can only be manipulated throught WAP and MMS, no beaming is allowed. Even my previous T68 works better in maximizing the Infrared function.

yup yup yup, my friend kinda got annoyed when he found out that there was nothing that was big in the changes in the features, also, my friend also found that the 7250 could not send out his photos with IR. Honestly, nokia, why did you even bother putting the IR?!? For contact and buisness card exchange??!!! LOL My friend is is really regretting buying the 7250. SE rocks man, no matter what people say.

😮 YEAH... Really CHEAP!!! In Malaysia 64MB is around HK$540 and
😞 theres no sign of the 128MB yet...

Although P800 only officially arrived HK in March, I can see that 128Mb MS Duo is available in HK even early than Europe.

IN response to the NOKIA-SE argument i just want to add that i used to be totally pro NOKIA(look at my phone history)...... until i saw the SE P800...... it was literally love at first sight(second actually. but whose counting?)........ NE way my point is the P800 is definately superior to most NOKIA phones.........but i wouldn't go as far as saying that NOKIA phones are bad....... i think they r quite good actually................. only problem is their features are all screwed up.............. N7250 has camers, but no image transfer via IR........... the N9210i Communicator, doesn't have blue-tooth or tri-band....... N7650 BT is for data only. But i actually do like NOKIA phones... only the P800 could make me switch from a NOKIA.

I know where you are getting at. Which is what I should say too, I used to love nokias until I realized that all the newer models that I was buying kinda made me feel ripped off, with one feature added and another was taken off. But i know, this is a good marketing plan and would really help boost sales with newer looks. I just wanted to say that SE releases phones with great added features, more for the value of your money. You can get more out of the SE phones then you can with a nokia. Nokia has great phones but SE is more customer minded by bring breakthrus with their newer phones.

lol, i love how the topic all of a sudden turned into a different topic
😃
So, anyone have an update of where to get cheap with international warranty 128mb memory stick duos?
Please list location and cost if possible

cheers

How do u tell if it has international warranty or not? Is there a sticker/stamp on the packet with "International Warranty" written or a warranty card inside?

Where did u see this $850 with international warranty? Are they available in Wan Chai, Fortress or Broadway? I have someone there at the moment and is not very familiar with the place. An exact location would be appreciated.

(anyone can answer this if they know) 😊

Would also like to know where to get Brando Screen Protectors from in that area. I was told by Brando that there might be someat 298 Computer Zone in Wan Chai. Can anyone confirm? Or where else can i get them from other than from Brando Website (around Wan Chai area)

cheers

If not mistaken, the warranties are differentiated by the agent. The one with International warranty should be from "Shun Hing", a large importer of Japanese electronics. Or else, go to the Sony Shop at The Gateway, Tsimshashui.

I haven't aware of any Brando protectors yet, but I'll keep my eyes on that next time I visit those areas (maybe a few days).

Never seen Brando scrn protector in stores...

BTW, I brought mine from their homepage, and only took me only 1.5 day to receive it, awesome 😊

Where abouts is Shun Hing and the Gateway? Can you give me the exact address cos im not from HK. Are they near Wan Chai? What about Broadyway and Fortress? Do they sell 128mb with International Warranty?

cheers

Now that SUNDAY is offering HK$38 per month unlimited GPRS (I switched already) you can really make the P800 work like it's designed to, without worrying running up the bill!

I agree that people are so blind in HK they just follow everyone and buy Nokia. I've never bought Nokias and have converted family (to T100) and friend (to T610)... and I have a T600 as spare. I think Nokia is a rip off and the features are not good in the new ones. And what's happening to their new phone designs? They are so UGLY!

It's good to see more P800 users around... :black:

The Sony Shop at Gateway is located at Harbour City, Tsimshatsui. Just 2 subway station away from Wanchai.
