New full screen picture caller ID from SIMEDA

Hello everyone,

We have just released our PhotoID application. It is a full-screen picture caller ID app for Nokia Series 60 phones. I know Symbianware beat us by about 7 days, but you might want to take a look: http://www.simeda.com/photoid.html

Interesting features:

- internal list of images for the contacts, stored separately from the Images application - allows you keep track of the contacts that have images attached to them and change them in one place
- can also fetch images from the Contacts application (not thumbnails though, we decided that looked _ugly_)
- you can take a picture of the contact right from the application, you don't have to start Camera, take a picture then go into the application and assign the photo. Just select the contact and choose "Take picture from camera". You can also load pictures from existing files on your phone
- autostart on reboot
- auto-add incoming calls to the contact list

Here are some screenshots to whet your appetite 😊

The application costs EUR 4.95 and a 15-day trial is available for download here.

Hi,

Now this looks a better application, using full size pictures instead of stretched thumb nails.

Welldone. Am gonna give the trial a go.

The app seems to have trouble reading incoming caller ID (at least the trial version) I have tried entering a number of my other mobile it were entered as + 7 903 *** **** which is the proper int'l GSM format. The program seems to not be able to recognize this because the local carrier displays the number as 8 903 *** ****. The standard Nokia caller ID works fine and displays the correct information as in the name I have assigned to my other phone.

What part of it is slow? I have personally tested it on my Nokia 3650 and it works great!

this is a better app than full screen caller but why changes the photo id picture if i take the call, if i take the call the photo changes to the defalt small thubnail i have for the contacts

ditto...

this one works really fast... I've found something strange though... if the phone is phone locked (not keypad locked) the program tries to show but then it doesn't... just that.

One suggestion... can you add icons for the phone number? for example... a mobile phone icon for the mobile number, a telephone for the home number, and so on.

Thanks! 😃

Lars, when you answer the call, the application hides itself and you see the default screen that Nokia has when receiving a call. PhotoID only shows up when the phone rings, when you press any key or answer/reject the call it gets out of the way and goes to background.

and i block my phone with a security code with 5 numers, you may know what i mean but when i get a incoming call photo id can't get trough the block

Hello,

my first impression of this software is quite good, but I found one thing that could been improved.

When I want to select a contact to the list and the program shows me the phonebook I can't select a letter to go to the entry starting with this letter; i have to scroll down through the whole phonebook entries to find the one I'm lokking for and this can take a long time.

May be is it possible to change this so that I can use the phonebook like normal.

Negropo 😃

You have to wait a few seconds to allow for the entire phonebook to be loaded, then you should be able to press a key and the search box will appear.

Since a contact can have more than a number like this:

Name: pinco
Surname: pallino
Work: 1239123091
Home: 2320982340
Cell: 234989203
etc...

Why whe one of that numer make a call, on the
3650 screen you do not show the details on the
latest line ?

eg:

Caller: Pinco Pallino
Work: 1239123091

so i always know from where a contact are calling me 😊

Sorry for bad English...

if someone is calling me which i have added 2 numbers at 1 contact and he calls from the second number photo id wont detect it. why?

I don't think I understand ... where did you add the second number? In your Contacts application? Can you email me on [email protected]? I'll try to see what went wrong and fix it.

Razvan

i mean two numbers at one conact like mobile number and the number of someones work and the home number call id only detects the first number you ad to a contact

I Think this is what lars's mean.

One contact with many phone.

I've just tested this situation on my 3650 (firmware 2.50, 13-02-2003 NHL-8) and everything works ok. Lars, could you please check your firmware version?

Razvan

Much better and faster than Fullscreen Caller.
good work

but still one thing: too much memory in RAM 😞

i have firmware version 2.50 but i think the problem is that my phone shows the number with the land code like +31 for calls from holland and i ahve added my contacts without the land code could this be a problem?

Thanks for a great app.
But can you please remove it from the Task Manager list in the next version? And have a option On or Off in the program?
Just like FSCaller. See?

One thing.
Why phone show icon in running apps when i press HIDE in program?
why isnt as other resident apps?
