Ok, so it's no surprise that the SX1 can play cracked n-gage games, given that they're both series 60 phones, but I do find it quite amusing seeing the n-gage logo on the siemens.
At least this will give Nokia a swift kick in the pants about their security/copy protection.
Even more amazing is the fact that someone actualy had an SX1! 😊
I don't think the SX1 is ever going to see the light of day. It's been 'coming out' for like 4-6 months now. Pushed back every month, it'll be old before it hits the shelves.
Don't worry, it will come and it will be popular. It's truly an amazing phone, I've used for almost 2 months now 😃
The SX1 is in the headlines alll over the world today. The Times, Der Spiegel, The Register, Wired.com, Cnet... thanks to press releases from AP and Reuters 😊
And here's the images it's all about, in case you haven't seen them 😊

Hehe, nice to see.
So, you've had an SX1 for almost 2 months!?! Do you work in the phones business or for siemens?
If you've had the phone for nearly 2 months, why isn't it on the shelves? Are they not shelf worthy yet?
Sorry for the questions 😃
Oh yeah and... do you want to sell? lol
No, I have no other relations to Siemens other than some good contacts...
I think Siemens want to make the SX1 as close to 100% free of bugs before they release it. The one I got is already more stabile than the final version of the 6600, so if it was up to me I would have released the SX1 now... 😞
But how do you play N-gage on a SX1, because you use 5-button and 7-button. 5 is on the left and 7 on the right. That means moving your thumb over the screen. Nice gameplay 😛
You can use two hands if you got 😉
But you need one thumb to control the joystick, or are you switching thumbs to control it. Maybe you got three hands 😉
You can use the thumb on the 5 and the 'long finger' on the seven.
Anyways, joystick and 5 key is the only keys you need in most of those games 😊
That is a way, its not much. But is a way 😛 Anyway, what does it matter. You can play N-Gage games on a Siemens! 😱 😃
hmmm.. where are you from molna? how come you have been using the sx1 for two months already when it isnt out in the market yet? hmmm maybe you're from siemen's and you just dont want us to get tired of waiting for sx1. i've been waiting for it and quite frankly, im fed up. lots of new phones will be released soon that has surpassed the sx1 features. its too bad, i was really excited about this phone, on the other hand its a good thing coz since newer phones are gonna be released at the same time sx1 will be released, there would be more phones to choose from.
Nope, don't work in Siemens 😊
I live in London and just happend to have some good contacts 😊
Siemens has proved its SX1 is yet again delayed.
The previous shipment date of the Series 60-based smartphone was scheduled to commence in week 49, but a Siemens spokesperson yesterday confirmed that this date would slip; still, the manufacturer has its aim set for launching the device in January or February 2004.
here's the site:

this sucks! i wanted to buy this phone for christmas!
Well, I think it's a bad business decision to hold back so long ... It can't be THAT buggy .... I have seen and played with a SX1 (from a Siemens guy) for a few minutes ... nice UI, and nice looking phone ... I don't know WHAT the heck they're thinking ... they should just launch it, and then keep working on the firmware, and just launch the firmware update once they have "worked out the bugs." Most people won't even see the bugs anyway, unless you're an application developer, and you can develop around the bugs anyway.
praefectus: the SX1 is now ready for the shops 😊
And yes, there will be selfupgrades available from my-siemens.com even for the SX1 😎

It may be ready but still not in any shops. I hope it is THAT good cos they must have lost a lot of potential customers.
Molna have you noticed any bugs in yours?? If not then would it have not been sensible to have brought it out earlier.
I have noticed a few small bugs, but none major. My FW is more than 2 months old now, so I look forward to receive the final one (probably next week) to see if it's any faster, has any new features etc... 😊
It appears that its gonna be in time for Christmas after all!

Aaargh...SX-1 has been developing for a year now and it's still buggy with mid Oct version~where 6600 only less than half a year and current selling version rocks with no problem!!!
I used to be a big big Siemens fan, but everytime their new release phone keep failing mine and lots of people expectation. They were full of bugs final version and needed to be firmware upgraded every month (sometime even twice a month~OMG Siemens really sucks).
So personally I don't thrust the Siemens phone, the software/hardware group engineers anymore.
And I've choosen to believe even a final release SX-1 will still have lots of bugs.....................
Let's wait and see how a SX-1 failing everybody expectation for the first few months (or maybe for half a year?)...

Excuse me? 6600 rocks with no problem? Have you ever used the 6600? I doubt. And although I must admit that SL45 as well as some other phones from Siemens were awfully buggy that doesn't occur for all the Siemens and especially the SX1 (you know series60 is Nokia's). As far as I know and heard the SX1 while on beta 2 months ago it was far more stable than 6600 when it was released... A possibly failure of siemens of a buggy sx1 will also impact Nokia for their bad licensing support...
And by the way speaking of firmware upgrades... Nokia is the last option.

I had a friend who bought it immediately when it came out (although I tried to convice him not to do, and go for the P900).
The phone had unexpected restarts especially when writing/sending SMSs, and varius problems with his bluetooth headset. The restarts have been greatly reduced if not gone with a firm upgrade after about half a month of it's purchase (he only had once the problem as he told me). The bluetooth headset was no more a problem because... he bought another one (some incombatibility with the phone I think because it works with any other phone we have tested it, a t68i a t610 and a P800 to be more specific).
Now I don't think if I can count the incombatibilies with 3rd party soft (that most of them have been cured) or the very slower menu (compared to other s60 phones) as bugs but to my opinion 6600 was rushed, sth that Siemens could also do with SX1 but didn't...
I bought mine a day before Singapore network operator start
selling it. So far NEVER encounter any problem.
Nokia bluetooth handset was best use with Nokia own bluetooth headset., so it is not advisable to use 3rd party bluetooth headset.
Personally think only a handful of 3rd party mfg been licensed by Nokia to develop bluetooth headset for Nokia phones
(or maybe Nokia were asking too high a license fee so mfg running away from support it).
Well for software issue...
As everyone should have know that 6600 is using Symbian v7.0 OS and Series 60 version 2.0 platform, so most of the old version Series60 softwares may not compatible. Especially those with UI (user interface), sound and graphic effects. Just like PC, you can't really use an old Win95/WinNT programs/drivers on a WinME/Win2k/WinXP system.
So please use only latest updated softwares which truly supporting 6600 (as some softwares wrongly stated by developer stating supporting 6600, in fact they were not).

That is a big load of bollocks!Bluetooth is not something invented by Nokia.Bluetooth is a standard. Its Nokia to blame for that, not the headsets makers.

Have you actually read any of the documentation on forum nokia? The whitepapers on Series 60 2.0 and the crossover from Series 60 1.x.It is clearly stated that with Series 60 2.0 there is a high level of compatibily with Series 60 1.x.And if we are going in to details, its Symbian 7.0s not 7.0,there is a big difference.
Especially those with UI (user interface), sound and graphic effects
And what do you mean by that?Does anyone understand what that means?
Just like PC, you can't really use an old Win95/WinNT programs/drivers on a WinME/Win2k/WinXP system.
Most applications actually do run.Drivers are a whole differnet issue,we are talking about simple applications and do you really want to compare a PC OS with and embeded OS?

Like i said before, even developers thought their applications would work because Nokia said so.And once again,Nokia is to blame for that, not the developers.
I have to agree with MemphisX that the 6600 was rushed and one last question NewForce, does Nokia pay you for this?

If developers only use only documented Series 60 1.2/Symbian OS 6.1 SDK APIs, applications should behave the same on Series 60 2.0/Symbian OS 7.0s.
For any APIs outside the documentation, there are no guarantees for compatibility (undocumented APIs or their behaviour may have changed from older versions in Series 60 2.0).
Also, applications using new Series 60 2.0/Symbian 7.0s APIs are unlikely to work on older devices.

If that is true than its resonable to say that 90% of the developers out there have used undocumented APIs.

I think that is pretty clear.

I would like to add here that this is the biggest reason why developers will hardly produce applications using this API. They want to sell as many copies as they can and to do this they need combatibility with older phones. By the time we will see such apps the 6600 we will be long gone...
PS.Forgot to mention above the varius problems my friend has with the PC suite...
NewForce,i'm really sorry if i offended you,i didn't mean to,but i'm not taking anything back.I think you should read your post again, and my reply to it.
I would not reply to your post if you do not take back those words (as below)

Please show to everyone in AAS, that you're man enough to take back those bad wording that you've said which have causes some serious deflamation on me.
And please don't prove it otherwise!
