I'm proud to present my second app 😊
Cartoon today will allow you to watch your favourite cartoons on your 9210.
Every time you start the program (or bring it to foreground) it will display the next picture in the archive 😊
Controls:
cba0/4 press once to make it visible

next pic : cba1 or enter or ctrl-n
previous pic: cba2 or ctrl-p
Hide: cba3 or ctrl-h
close: cba4 or ctrl-c
scrolling: arrow keys (if scrolling is possible)
open other archive: ctrl-o
to go to a image (needs to count all the images ... could take a while for a year archive) : ctrl-g
kill the titlebar : ctrl-T

Screen:
you can view cartoon with a size of 608x200 (170 with titlebar) at once, bigger images will enable scrolling.
You can set the scrolling speed in pixels, where 170 pixels is maximum, set this setting in the preferences menu so it fits your cartoon archive best.

Included in the sis file is a default.mbm which you may delete if you want to save space.

This application requires OPL runtime which you can find here:
http://www.symbian.com/developer/downloads/opl.html

People who are not registred on this forum can find the install files here:
WarLocks for Nokia Homefront

Any comments are welcome 😊

Again a few years of this available.

AMAZING !!!! 😮

Now this is VERY cool Dazler...VERY VERY VERY COOL
Heck ..Dident even know you where possesd by the OPL demon 😉
Indeed a wonderful job well done there ...
I almost cryed when I saw the about box ...nice ..ER6, Ewan and all..That ought to make Rafe real happy ..and a nice little icon ..EXCELLENT !!

I LOVE IT .....Goes straight into a cult app status !
Now we just need more nice guys like Archiver (is that you Dazler) from heaven ....Thanx to you to for all the classics .. 😉

THANK YOU SO MUCH 😃

Well I've got to say sorry to Daz on this, he gave me a heads up on this over the weekend (and a quick preview) and I couldn't fault it, except that I didnt email you to let you know this Daz, sorry.

Anyway... Two things I want to say to the rest of everyone here.

(1) The OPL Demon is actually a pretty easy thing to catch, and with a bit of help from the Event Core, it's even easier for beginners.

(2) I *am* touched by the mention in the About Box. To all those people wondering what the heck Event Core is... this is a little OPL app that does nothing, except act as a framework to people who are begining to code OPL. It holds all the event driven code to gather key presses, menus, side buttons and allows the programmer to go strtight onto coding the app, rather than the standard interface. I;ve used a variation of this since the S3a days.

It will be publicly available soon, Dazler was (in effect) beta testing the concept and I hope he can comment here on it.

No problem Ewan 😉
Indeed the event core was very helpful, I didn't have to worry about the framework until I felt more comfortable with opl.

About the archives .. i have a feeling there will be a lot more coming up 😉
And of course everybody feel free to create your own ... someone willing to scan comicbooks? 😉

This is a killer app!

I'm presently downloading the General Protection Fault collection.... what about Dilbert? 😉

This looks dead cool! I gotta say that I was wondering what those cartoons were in a screenshot of something else (App Man?) that you provided - and now we know!

Nice one!

Cheers bigears (as our Human Resources department would say)

Re the background screenshots in the AppMan review, that was a cynical and nasty trick to subconciously get everyone ready for CT...

I liked that...

😃 L O L 😃

Simplest solution is to register on the forum, come back to this thread and you will see the links on the first message (unregistered guests can't download files from forum).

Regards

The files(archives) already used to much bandwidth so they blocked my account 😉
I'll try to get them online somewhere else. Give me a few minuts 😊

Currently reuploading them ...
Dilbert is hard to get ... I could do it but in bundles of a week because they only put a weeks worth of Dilberts on their site.

Thanks Dazler for this great, yet simple application! I'm eagerly waiting for Dilbert, but Calvin and Hobbes and Garfield will do for the moment.
I guess it is about time to get an 128 MB memory card 😉
Currently reuploading them ...
Are you still uploading them? Because I always get an error when I try to download any of the Garfield pictures 😞

Here we go again 😉 Glad you all like them so much.
I'll try looking in to the dilbert thing 😉

Thx to all for your comments 😊
About the archives, there are still many many comics out there so pls feel encouraged to make your own archives to share 😊
Check Ucomics for instance 😊
Garfield, Calvin can be found there, they also have "the fifth wave" more nerd comic which I enjoy (they love bashing windows 2 Tankerx 😉 )
The archives are mbm files which you can create from bmp files using bmconv.
The max screen which you can view at once is 608*200 pixels

Anyway thx again 😊
And give ideas for updates 😊

Just increasing our telephone bill by downloading the Garfield year archive 😉 = so I guess the links are working again!

Helllllp!
I can't browse the yearly collection of GPF... cause RAM ends towards the 20th strip and resets back to the first!
Please add the way to jump to strip #n...

Thanks!

Fuck, I never scrolled more then 10 pages on the device itself without closing it :s
I'll try to fix the problem and add that little update.
For now try closing it when you are at 19 and then start again, sorry for this.
I'll try to fix the problem and add that little update.
Also CTRL-T to remove the windows title bar... 😃

Now to somebody writing a windows app to point and click an image in a www page... and voila' added to a mbm!

I think I found the problem, you can expect a fix waiting for you when you wake up. I'll have a look at the suggested ideas 2 😉

Already working on a faster archive creater (have one in demo, I'll clean it up)

Dazler did you realize it is not for comics only? (Though comics are that important).
Just call it "Graphic e-Book Reader" and hopla' is a much more professional app! Or "Pocket Slide Show Presenter"?

Well looking forward to dawn-load the new improved version...

BTW I'm at GPF strip #213! :P (Closing and opening again every ten pages)

Hi Dazler...

😃 Congrats on Cartoon Today!!!!
For u horny sheeps out there, get ready for some nasty erotic comic/cartoon collection to be out soon... 😉

Am I correct that one monthly GPF file contains 20-30 cartoons and one monthly Garfield contains only 8 cartoons because of clour pics). CatoonToday seems to mess up the number of cartoons when switching files.

Otherwise great app, really enjoy reading!!! 😃

Nice one Dazler (I think I've got the hang of your name now 😉) nice work and posting it in the way you did sure encourages people to register with this group 😊.

I tried the first four months. I was only able to show the first 8 cartoons. I also tried to delete the config file in the application directory but to no avail.

Got an update!

Update includes:

better memory handling. (Was a big fault in previous version)
ctrl-g: to go to a image (needs to count all the images ... could take a while for a year archive)
ctrl-t: kill the titlebar ... which means you know have 608*200 pix available

I've reposted the apps in the first post of this topic.
I hope I didn't mess it up instead of making it better ;p

Richard I think It's rather a memory problem, try the new version, also what did you mean with screwing the numbers up?
