OK that's a point too. But the 3650 is bigger so they don't have to make a complicated print. Maybe are the materials more expensive, the 8910 is expensive too but has nothing special but when you open the phone you see some spectacular tech, the display is connected with an micro cable instead of an elastomer like the 8850 + the print is fucking small. What I want to say is that the price depends of just more than materials, just think about the developement.......
7650 Memory Upgrade - Possible Concept
the 8910 is a piece of art, both internally and externally
I understand your point!
The only thing that really I think is really intemedating is that a phone like the 3650 which will be cheaper, has something that I am sure Nokia did not think of at the beggining, like MMC and BT Audio! Why make a lower class phone BETTER than a higher class one like the 7650, and at the same time cheaper??
Still the 7650 is way better looking compared to the 3650 but this depends on personal preference I guess. 😊
Thanx for the infor BTW!
Better? What the hell are you talking about, its a kiddy phone god damn it!
I am talking about more features! 😊 This kiddy phone has a MMC slot adn BT Audio profile! How kiddy is that? I know it looks crap but I said that already! But you can't argue that you would not want a MMC slot and T audio! In this way it is better! But I still wont get one becasue it look ugly! 😊
Yeah I dont know what drugs these phone compaines are on, ive never seen a stylish phone at all from erricsson, and Nokia I dont know what there smoking but nothing commin gout in the future looks promising
To me its Design then features.
I mean the 8250 didnt really have any great advantage of the 8210 except a blue screen but I and other people brought it because of that and because it looked alot nicer etc.
ahh anyway ive argued this enough on the forums since ive been here, but despite these phones MMC slots and the other advantages they have over the 7650, damn they look so god damn fugly.
Wow I didn't expect my topic to end up quite so popular!
After reading everyones thoughts and comments what I think we should try and push Nokia to do is offer an upgrade for "power users" through the nokia services centres. If they have the right gear the removal of the chip should only take a matter of minutes (all be it taking the phone apart will take the most part). At a guess most of these services centres should have the ability to remove surface mount type IC's.
If it is managed through a nokia service centre they should be able to manage IMEI transfer etc.
I think it's time Nokia gave us support.. We supported them purchasing their new phone and we all took a gamble chucking over a wad of cash or joining up on a plan to get it.. We all know it's a fanf@#@ingtastic phone we all just need more ram (oh and the bugs ironed out)! And sure the 3650 has MMC and BT Audio but lets be honest, thats not a replacement option for our beloved 7650, and frankly the P800 doesn't do much for me either, I like being able to use my phone one handed. Were the designers smoking crack or on LSD at the time they designed the 3650?
I've been trying to think what I would classify as "reasonable to pay" for a ram upgrade to the phone.
I reckon fitting AUD$100 (GBP35) (then it becomes semi attractive for them to do it)
+ Memory Chip
64, 128, 256, 512
I'm now in the situation like most of you guys, after install a few apps (MVR Pool, Magic Game Engine, T-Mobile, SeleQ, Triple Pop and IM+, then images and sounds) I'm starting to get low on memory sitting on around 512K) 😞
The next big question is what is the biggest memory chip they make to match the current one?
Well, that is all nice and pichy, but how do we make Nokia consider this? Spam their mail server? 😊
Online petition I thinks the go..
We've done it in the past at MiniDisc.org to try and get Sony to change things in later models. We've had a couple of successes.
You have to wonder also how much impact would extra ram have on the system. Eg could it handle it with the current software version? Would it need a special software upgrade etc. If it's as straight forward as a chip swap with some information transferred (IMEI blah blah etc) surely it couldn't be that hard to get them to offer it. At the end of the day it comes down to $$$ if they can make more money out of existing consumers with minimal effort they would have to consider it. If indeed it meant re-working half the board in the phone and a major software upgrade of course I could see why it wouldn't be viable.
As the phone is available in Asia probably wont take long before some clever cookie works out how to change it there.
BTW anyone have any ideas on how much these 64/128/256 chips are worth?
Well,Tenchi, since you started this whole memory upgrade thingy, why dont you start the online petition thingy allso 😊 Just a thought 😊
Geee thanks GhostDog :P
Unlike work I cant pass it on for someone else to do 😞
Ok I'll look into it.
I too have run out of memory and had to remove some of he original software to make room for the new, although I'm still learning what's needed of the sis files once an app is installed. So maybe I'm causing my own problems be not deleting old instal files. Anyway regardless of this the phone is short of memory and if a petition is started I would gladly stick my name on it.
