Question:
I hear that the 7560 supports .wav and .mid files to be used as alerts. Id it possible to upload the files to your phone (via infra-red/blutooth) or do you have to record the sounds through the phones mic?
Thanks

I suggest u do a search in this forum for topics that you are interested in before u post the question. Anyware, yes, its support wav/mid. Enyoy your 7650. 😉
Err I know it supports .wav - I said that in my post. What I asked was can you upload .wav from your PC.
you can transfer it using infrared or bluetooth from your pc.
and you can't record from the mic too
but i guess the quality of the sound will be quite bad :P
(do you me CAN record from mic?)
THanks for the info
no problemo
nut remeber i suggest you buy a infra red or bluetooht device for your pc cause the sound quality will be much better :P
deevonn meant to say CAN instead of can't, but it was just typed cant 😃
Yeah recordin from the microphone is pretty bad, well its good as you-can-hear-it kinda way, but not if your interested in crystal clear ringtones!
And also the ringtones that are recorded are too quiet!!! Even if you have it on full volume, its just queiter then by originally "playing" it
Oh I was intending to upload - I wouldent buy the phone if I couldent upload wav- what about .mp3 upload??
Thanks!!
Oh yeah, and if you want to raise the volume of your speaker phone, do TankerX's suggestion;
1-add a contact
2-record a voice dial for that contact
3-hold the happy face button one the side of the phone (the one that activates the speaker phone)
4-say the WRONG voice tag (say anything that you didnt record on the tag!!)
and viola! the speaker phone is now noticebly louder!
(thanx TankerX! this is the most useful thing i learned from the whole forum!) 😃
But i dunno if it raises the ringtone volume!!!! (the purpose of this post 😃)
Does the phone ring though the loud speaker on the top, or the speaker on the front (or can you specify?)
huh??
Wait you got me wrong!
you CAN upload, you can upload anything on the phone, as long as you have a program to play/use/read the file you uploaded!!
You can upload mp3's and use the media player to play them, found here:
http://www.allabouter6.com/software/directory/viewcat.php?c=Multimedia&d=Nokia%207650
Or you can upload midi's and use them for ringtones, (just search anywhere for "midi files" on the net, and you'll find alot!)
and you can also upload .WAV and use them as tones.
you CAN use them as tones, and you CAN upload them 😃
(you could also convert .wav to .amr and upload .amr to the phone, since it takes less space! if you want the program, just contact me)
As far as i know theres only one loudspeaker, (which is the one on the top)
its used for all kind of ringing/beeping/loudspeaker talking 😃
the thing at the bottom (or near bottom) is the microphone
So converting to .amr means that it will compress the file size as much as possible (better or to the same standerd as .mp3 compression??)
I would love to get hold of the converter!
Thnaks sooo much!
oh sorry 😃 didnt read your post right
the thing on the front isnt a loud speaker, its the regular speaker,( you know, the thing that you stick your ear to so you can listen what the other person is saying :P)
can you get the phone to ring through the loud dpeaker, or does it have to be the regular speaker?
Thanks
no no, the phone ONLY rings from the loud speaker, it cant ring from the regular front speaker (to my knowledge)
That doesnt make a difference at all 😃 your gonna hear the tone eventually!!
Hey - can I get a copy of the converter please :P
I think I sent you an email
THanks
I mentioned this on another post...

Do note that amr files sound softer than the wav files when used as ringtone.
Adrian
Cool thanks, is there a .arm player for windows?
Thanks
.amr player even
The phone rings through the loudspeaker when using WAV ringtones.
I cut downan MP3 to 15-20 seconds then convert itto WAV format using Mixmeister 4 (any audio software will do.)
I then change the format of the WAV file to the following using Microsoft Sound Recorder:
16,000Khz, 8bit, Mono. (Bitrate 15kb/s)
The resulting files are about 220-250k in size. I then upload them to the phone using one of my laptop's Infrared port.
This format gives the highest possible quality although file size could be reduced with lower quality audio. Go any higher than 16KHZ @ 8bit and you get high frequencies which the 7650's speaker can't handle (it was designed primarily for voice related audio) which basicly means lame sounding ringtones.
You can convert the WAV's to AMR but i find that they sound a bit pants. I'd stick with Midi insted of you're after low-fi ringtones, that could just be me not using software properly though!
That should cover all your questions. Oh yes, as for making the ringtones louder, for WAV simply increase the volume at the MP3 conversion stage, and for Midi, transfer them to a PC and open them in Cubase/Cakewalk and increase the volume before exporting back to the phone again.
Viola!

Thanks Omar - I read this (that you wrote) in a previous post, and this is the best option. So .wav is played though the loudspeaker....
Is bluetooth connection for my PC faster then a IR one?
THanks
Yep, Infrared is pretty slow, but then again if you're only transfering WAV files and installing small applications (With only 4mb of memory you wont be sending large files) then IrDa will surfice.
It it comes down to cost, get whichever is cheapest, as the speed of bluetooth will hardly make a difference with such tiny file sizes.

No, that's amr to wav converter and visa versa. amr files are smaller but they play softer than wav file on the 7650.
