I'm trying to replaces the memory on my 7650, this is picture of 7650 hardware.

PS: this pictures is taken by my own nokia 7650 8)

Very good, now can you turn the phone upside down in order on the first pic for us to see the memory chip maybe? 😊

Nice going m8!

I just wrote a detailed explanation of why you shouldn't do this, but deleted the post, here's the short verson.

If you replace the chip with another (Even an identical chip from another 7650) you will bugger your phone. So don't do it.

isnt it posible to make an exact copy of the chip to an even bigger one? So that the phone does not really know that the chip was changed?

Looks like you didn't get the point..of course if the pinout matches you can change. Now the thing is Nokia keeps a copy of the IMEI in the flash device. If you change it you'll get a nice "??????????????" IMEI number and the phone will reset itself every 32 seconds (has a security watchdog). Now, if you're willing to ruin the phone, go ahead, but personally i would NOT recommend that.

I Already try it, u must flash it back after you replace the chip, but there's still some problem with my 7650 everytime i calling someone it will disconnected.

J i got you, but when i say exact copy i mean copying the imei as well! 😊

As for milenium:

Wait,wait,wait,wait,wait,wait,wait!

What do you mean you tried it?

Did you replace the chips memory?

How many MB has your phone now?

:P or am i dreaming?

So your saying that you've already replaced it??

Can we have a Screen shot of App Manager, to show how much memory you have???

i Know... change the IMEI number to what you like, you can place anykind of number to your IMEI number even with your birthday. 8) this is a crack stuff. but it's illegal to nokia. It works with others Nokia device including Nokia 9210.

I can't give you the screenshot cause what you see the picture is the phone that i change the memory it is 16mb right now, and i just take the picture a minute ago with my other Nokia 7650, but the phone not work properly, i dunno, maybe something wrong. 😞

PS: I made my Nokia 9210 with black colour.

Why dont you take the other 7650 phone you have and use the camera to capture a screen shot of the other 16mb 7650? you said that the problem is when calling! Does the phone actually do anything or is it completely useless?

I'm not changing the memory with my other 7650, it's 4:00 AM in here, i'm lazy to put on the machine that i change the memory, tomorrow i will take the screenshot, u don't have to believe in me, i just want to share the info. if it's work properly i want to register it to nokia.

Yeah if you can manage it, then that's the greatest development so far!!

I'd love to see the screenshots though. I may change my mind about selling my 7650 if I can cram more things on it.

I'm rethinking spraying my 7650 after seeing the bodge-job above. As for this mythical upgrade......

yes the IMEI supposed not to be a problem cos with a flash box or maybe data cable or something like that we can change everything in the phone

even if i want to write ver. 99.9 for the software version

wow
16mb on this phone would indeed be very impressive, hell id even try dismantle it if I had a chance of getting 16 in there.

Cant wait to see the results.

millenium
loe di mana jakarata?
gua juga mau di upgrade nih 7650nya kalo bisa heheh
kabarin ya :P

wow! I wouldn't think you would be able to change the memory because of addressing problems. I have already looked into this, and I spoke to some old IT people, old as in they started in the 1970's. They all said it is only possible if the phone could address that amount of memory. That is two things could be restricting it(as far as I know), that is the CPU and the memory addressing chip - these can could be in the same chip. However, if this does work, then I guess there is no addressing problems!

I must say this is the most important part of the whole forum!!

If Millenium could pull it off, it'll be sweet! Mp3's can finally be stored on the phone!!!

But Millenium is thousands of miles away!
I got a q, can any mobile repairer shop do this? Meaning, is it easy if you got the equipment and brains, or almost impossible only experetley??

Right. Some ppl just keep thinking these phones are like the old 61xx or 333x 😊 No serial cable or flasher would do the trick with the imei. IMEI changing can only be done with some special hardware from Nokia, only in certain service centers.
Now i took some time and read the pdf's from Intel for the flash chip. The pdf mentions somewhere that the flash chips have a customer area than can be programmed once. After that it's impossible to erase. Someone might guess where the imei is ?? 😊 The only thing to do is to read the customer area from your phone and write it in the virgin flash, then duplicate the rest of the content. This is the only way.

Did he manage to pull it off ??? Are you awake yet ? Is it working ???

Come on man.. everybody waits with bathed breath... 😊
