Ban IP-addresses?

Today there were a lot of offensive, rude and vile posts from guests in the N-Gage section. I deleted them starting from top to bottom and then noticed that Raven was doing the same from bottom to top 😊.

But then I thought to ban the IP-addresses these posts are coming from, but to my surprise it's possible to find the IP-addresses of these ppl, it's not possible to ban a certain IP address from making a post in this board. Is this functionality that can be added (maybe install some extension)?

I agree with Arjen. I know banning should be a last resort but sometimes in the case of persistent rule breakers (most of whom are guest posters) It's the best option

We do have the facility to ban IP address (And IP address ranges), I can do this from the Moderator pannel, but i'm not sure if all moderators can (perhaps only super moderators), if you point me in the direction of the posts or give IP addresses than I can ban them...the only problem being that most people are assigned a new IP when they log onto the internet and you can't really ban IP ranges as that can effect genuine people using the same ISP or IP range.

If the posts are just coming from someone with a static IP then there will not be a problem.

Maybe only admins can do this (I think I am a super moderator, but I can't do it). That's ok though. For now, they've stopped making these posts, but if this happens again I know who to ask to ban some IP-addresses 😊
