- Ringtones and warning tones routed to both Bluetooth accessories and intergraded handsfree in terminal side
Interesting - looks like this firmware finally results in the phone ringing both the phone and a Bluetooth headset, allowing the use of the HS-3W without having to keep it in your ear all the time.

I wonder if they'll do the same for the other Series60 phones....

Can anyone give a quick translation of what this firmware update does?

Also, can you take you phone into an Orange shop for this update?

Yeah, if 'intergraded handsfree in terminal side' means Handset. Hope this isn't default and is user selectable if it works that way.

Wow, I just checked and I'm only on version 3.49.1

As I asked above, can I take my phone into an Orange shop to get the update?

Hello,

Just looked into the possibilities of upgrading my firmware from V3.42.1
to 5.27.0 carphone warehouse are quoting me thirty pounds.

I bought the phone in the Far East and although still under Warranty, Nokia have stated the phones warranty is no good for the UK, if I am right the Flash firmware should be free under warranty.

Any ideas where and how I can get round this problem.

regards

So... if my phone is under a UK warranty... can I take it into an Orange shop for a firmware patch?

Someone, for the love of god... please tell me :frown:

You need to take it to a Nokia Service Centre, however, you may find that your local Orange shop is also an NSC. Best bet is to go onto the Nokia website and find your nearest NSC and ring them up and discuss it with them.

Morning folks,
I'm on 3.49 with my 6600, its lovely and all but a bit slow and flakey, and I have a fad for having the latest software updates for anything and everything.

Ok a bit of a n00bish post here... But what can you expect from "unregistered"?

Fistly, is there any way I can download the flash file to my PC? I know I wont be able to flash the phone myself but I know the owner of a telecomms shop, he only has 4.09. I figure you probably just cant get the flash files but the wording of previous posts didnt really give a definate answer. Also, I'd assume its much like flashing a PC bios? ie. a flash is a flash and provided the flash file is not corrupt its quite hard to screw it up?

Secondly, if I get the lovely carphone warehouse people to send it away for me (2 weeks?!?!?!?) will it get 5.27? Anyone know for sure if thats what theyre putting on phones that are sent away?

Lastly, thank god, (and wrong place here probably I know) do any of the firmware updates after 3.49 improve compatibility with cheap mmc cards? I got a 256mb one that keeps giving me write to disk errors from camera and the odd "no memory card detected" =/

Thanks for any help =)

Oh damn! Can't they do it in shop then? Can't be without my phone for 2 weeks!

That's the carphone warehouse, cribbs, Bristol. They cant do any series 6 in store apparently. I dont think its the same for all of their nokia centres though, just make sure you ask them repeatedly on the phone or they'll just let you waste your bus fair for the sake of some guy who says "Hi, no no no...."

(btw I dont have anything against the employees themselves...)

Maybe someone can answer a question or two for me, as I'm new to the 6600 and would like to upgrade my firmware.....

I called Nokia-USA and they told me that 4.09.1 isn't a standard firmware version, and 5.27.0 does not exist. I was told (Harrassed actually) by the technical support "manager" that if I wanted this firmware, I'd have to fly all over the globe looking for a ficticious firmware that would, by his insistance, cause my phone to malfunction. I was also told that Nokia-USA doesn't have a repair center open to the public, all phones must be shipped back to Nokia, taking about 3 weeks for them to fix it.

Now, I was under the impression (perhaps erronously) that 4.09.1 was a standard (pretty much worldwide) firmware, for every phone made between certain dates (or flash upgraded). According to the "wonderful" people at Nokia-USA, changing firmwares would erased all the software on my phone, and it would no longer even work with my provider! It took all my concentration to NOT laugh in his face.

So what's the deal here? I'd love to have the upgraded firmware, but is it even possible? It's not like he told me "it's not available YET", he told me there is NO firmware upgrades at any time.

You talked to a misinformed person with a bad attitude (or a bad day otherwise), obviously.

I have already tested v5.27 and it has lots of new improvements. The RAM ( drive D: ) has increased from 300KB to 1.3MB, other java games and symbian apps now work without encountering any error. But, you cannot send SIS, JAR and MID files to another nokia phone via IR or Bluetooth. You have to rename them, shame on Noks, also, i cant detect phones made by sony erricsson, P800 or P900. I wonder why nokia did that.

What an irony. It's said that in fw 5.27.0 Bluetooth interoperabilty with other devices such as PDAs is improved, and SoNn says he can't discover devices made by SE😊I'm on 5.27.0 too,but I haven't tested if this is indeed true.

at the nokia assistance, 10-15 minutes to upgrade your firmware

What part of the world are you guys with 5.27 from ? The UK Nokia service centre I spoke to have no info about 5.27 (he checked on his authorised link to Nokia while I was speaking to him) :frown:

I have just had my 6600 sent away to CRC by Carphone Warehouse and it was back within the week and I didn't even buy it from them. You can send it yourself direct to CRC but you will have to pay for the postage so it can be cheaper using CPW. Have a look on Nokia's website and see if you have any other dealers nearby that are Service Centres in their own right - we have loads of CPW's within about 20 miles but only a few are actual Service Centres and they can flash phones without sending them away.

DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD!!!

I don't want to talk about it I want to enjoy it! Please, give me a link where can I download it? I've tried to search for a download site but I couldn't find any...

Wheter I'm still (after 1x yrs) a noob with searches
Or Nokia just don't want us to upgrade, or what?

Thanks in advance for the QUICK RESPONSE!
