Hello everyone!!
A few days ago I received my Sendo X! The wait is finally over! I've been monitoring the progress of this phone for quite a while now. My desire for this phone goes way back, when the phone was code-named Z100 and it was about to be released as the first device on the market to run Microsoft's Smartphone 2002 software.
I bought the phone from nomatica.com for 436 euros including a crappy black case. I thought the case was specifically made for X but it's not. You have to open the case and take the phone out every time you need to use it! The phone was sent from France and it took 5 working days to get it, but hey, I just live in a small island somewhere in Greece (Rhodes) so no surprises there. It should take a couple days to reach other major european destinations. And yes, you guessed right, everything is in French; manual, phone language, etc etc, but I had already downloaded the english version of the manual and it's easy to switch to english menus on the phone, so no problem really.
The following is a list of problems that Im currently facing with my Sendo X. There are also some thoughts for future upgrades!
When i answer a call, phone keeps vibrating for a second or two!
There's no messages and contacts manager included in the software! Hopefully a new version of the famous Oxygen Manager supporting the X will be out soon(www.oxygensoftware.com)!
Surprisingly enough there's no option to sync notes! You can sync just about anything in outlook except the Notes! How could they miss something like that? How weird...
No vibration alert for incoming messages!
No repeat option for alarm! Problem solved with Handy Clock(http://my-symbian.com/7650/applications/applications.php?fldAuto=37&faq=2) You can set up to 8 clock alarms at the same time and it supports 5 types of alarms: once next 24 hoursm, daily, weekly and workdays!
There's a bug with word countdown when Im writing an SMS message. In the beggining I just thought that there wasnt such an option but later I noticed that if I open up the options menu and then cancel it will appear for just a fraction of a second. So it is there, it just wont show... at least on my phone!
No option for full size pics in the photo view app
No mp3 support for ringtones!!
Gif animation is horrible and there's no repeat option!
Correct me if Im wrong but I think that there's no option for auto keypad lock!! How could they miss that?
Sometimes when I unlock the phone backlight takes time to be activated!
Voicemail wont change! I go to the tools > Call voicemail, I change the number, I press the 1 from the Now! screen - which is the speed dial for voicemail and it calls the number it was originally assigned on the phone!
No option to save messages on the memory card!
I wish the Now! screen was a bit more flexible! For example, since I dont check emails from my phone I'd like to remove the "Check e-mail" option from the messages plug-in and i'd rather have received, dialed and missed calls in the "Call record" plug-in. Also I'd rather have an option to have the events displayed on the calendar plug-in instead of the appointments!
Sendo has done a wondewrful job to combine all these great softwares and technologies together but I think that the company should pay more attention on how to make things simpler and more practical. For example, people want to send a message as quick as possible. Right now, the quickest way to write a message requires me to go through at least 4 menus. Why dont they use the edit and voice keys as shortcut keys in the Now! screen? There should be an option in the Now! screen to assign shortcuts for those two buttons. Edit key could be used to quickly write a new message, while voice key could be used to quickly make a note in the voice recorder. Most of the time, when people make a note in the voice recorder is because they want to quickly record something so that they dont forget and because they have no time to just write it down. If they have to go through so many menus to activate the voice recorder, they just wont use it really. It's just not practical. It would only be useful if the user could press the voice key and make a note and be saved automatically.I really hope they take this recommendation very seriously!! I feel like with my old phone I could do my everyday tasks much quicker; press left and write a new message, press right and check my calendar, press down and view my contacts... as simple as that!!!
I have already emailed my problems and recommendations to as requested before, and I also hope that plinkykev will help me out here and forward these notes to Sendo as an insider 🙄
I am a bit concerned about the problems that Im currently experiencing with my phone but the fact that a new firmware is already under development and that Sendo pays so much attention on customer feedback is very encouraging, and I must say that I feel confident that the best is about to get even better 😉
I just wish someone could come up with a solution on how to add the greek dictionary on the phone! Don't care about greek menus, I only need the T9 files to be installed. Anybody? No? I thought so :frown:
