Don't know if it works (just set it up myself and I hope it works), but those who find NewsBot a bit annoying, you could add it to your personal Ignore List on the "User CP" page: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/usercp.php
Forum has become product campaign for NewsBot..

It seems the person who started this thread is right: this website slowly gets more and more commecial. It is about money. That's why you consider MySymbian a competition. MySymbian at least offcially offers commerical software and calls it what it is: a shop, "buy full version" etc. What you do is _pretending_ to be a community site while in reality you have exactly the same shop run by Handango as MySymbian, you get the same commission from sales, you get money for banners etc. So stop to be pretenders and say it clearly. And either officially compete with MySymbian and/or other sites or be _truly_ friendly. And no such liars with mouths full of friendship and community but actually trying to win the Symbian market and make money on it.I haven't seen a single bad word about AAS from people running MySymbian for years, while I keep seeing such vicious allusions to MySymbian on these forums all the time, and most of them come from AAS people, not from ordinary users. Like Ewan Spencer saying in his 9500 review that he won't post hundreds of useless screenshots. The allussion is obvious. And you are not the only one. Your allied Richard Bloor says the same things, for example on msmobiles.com he says that MySymbian is just a poor shop frontend. Hmmm.... Maybe he can't read, but it was MySymbian who reviewed the 9500 when he didn't even know how it looks like, the same for BenQ P30, the same for 9210 and 7650 some years ago, the same for P910i (in summer) etc.
Leave MySymbian alone, OK? Or do you really want to provoke them?
Jacek from Warsaw who also keeps reading AAS
I can see why you could take that comment as a dig at My-Symbian, but I assure you that it wasn't intended that way.
I have met Michal @ Expo '03 and he seems like a very nice person, I have been registered at My-Symbian for over 2 years, I browse though the forum at least once a week, and there is no doubting it is a great site.
I'm not completely sure how you came to the conclusion that AAS is ran by a bunch of people who's main aim in life is to be better than My-Sy although that's the impression I get from your comments.
Anyway, I hope that clears things up. 😊
Regards,
Jordan
And to think, only a couple of weeks ago people were complaining that the Community Waffle forum had become a bit dull!

Raven, I already told you the truth and I couldn't care less whether you believe it or not. It is your problem and not mine. As for him, I have 3000 Polish users on my forum using the Polish part. I don't think you know users from that part of my site. I don't know him either and I have no time to analyze thousands of posts on my forums to try to find him. Stop your insinuations, will you? I don't think I like you for such behaviour. EOT.

Jordan, I am sorry for that person. Once again, I don't know who he is. Yes, both you and Rafe met me at the previous Expo and I hope you could see that I am not that kind of person Raven tells people I am. I am starting to think that someone did it on purpose, to divide and antagonize us. My style? There are so many megabytes of my texts in the net that it isn't too hard to use them to fake/imitate me. Once again, it wasn't me and I am sorry for that guy as my opinions about you and your site are completely different. It's all I can say. Don't let somebody antagonize us. Now that's really my last post in this thread.
there is no need to get mad or crazy over what some lunatic is saying
lets just forget it😃
who cares if someperson is is bad mouthing aas or mysymbian
all of us know better😉
"never argue with an idiot, theyll drag you to their level and beat you up with experience"
I can indeed confirm that indeed My-Symbian (Michal) and Jacek are posting from different IP's.
I can also say I've met Michal more than once and he's always been friendly.
As Michal says the person concerned may well just be trying to atagonise people. A bit of a waste of time in my opinion.
To the anonymous poster: You're quite welcome to think what you like about me. You're post is somewhat discredited though by your railing against englishmen generally.
The part about number one was really just a throw away line though from my own stats I know My-Symbian.com and allaboutysmbian.com have nearly idential stats. If you include some of the other sites (such allaboutngage.com, allaboutseries80.com) then there are more visitors. However I hardly think that's the point. I'm sure Michal would agree with me when I say the more visitors to any Symbian website the better. We're both interested in building the community.
Regards to all,
Rafe
p.s. Bassey - heh - just when you think thigs are getting dull!

After reading the whole thread it made me feel strange...
It seemed strange...
From the very first day I've been in the Symbian community I have never seen My-Symbian as a rival to AAS (the only rival AAS has is the msmobiles site 😃 ). Actually I've seen it as a brother site. There were many times I was jumping from AAS to My-Symbian either to download a software or read a review...
The least I can say is that even the exceptional relationship between many of the moderators from both sites could easily mislead you to believe that My-Symbian is a part of AllAboutSymbian (or the other way around AllAboutSymbian is a part of MySymbian).
Reading that thread just "destructs" my beliefs, and gives me the wrong idea...
It is just misleading, and the least we can do is stop it.
