Hi All,

Well, after some delay (sorry!) I am happy to say release 60 is being rolled out.

The FIRST version on the site will be for the Telefonica (Spanish) users, who never got a release the last time. That seems only fair.

After that, the other versions will be released. This will happen over the next few days.

Please feel free to pass these details on (in your own language) to any other forums you visit.

Regards,

plinkykev

French one. french one french one french one. I was starting to think T-Mobile gets good reception only in their part of the atmosphere (a day in Germany).... while a night here in San Francisco, CA seemed to get better reception.... sometimes. Thought the satillites had preference on the eastern hemisphere, hoping that this will change my views after a successful AND functional update on my Sendo X.

locutus_uk wrote:arrrghhh where are the other updates?

on the way... it takes a while to make up the various 30MB packages...

I'm sure the Spanish chaps will be slightly happy to have theirs first, considering the wait they have had - plus you'll only have a few days to wait, not the months they did 😊

My firmware shows 1.63.1.2 Releas IG dated 4 Sep 2004.

Is this a Vodafone UK special and can I still use the updates.

Thanks

It is a Vodafone build, like all of the others, and WILL have an update, just like everyone else, so don't worry.

Thanks for the reply,

Will this come from Sendo or Vodafone ?

I had a look at Sendo's site and I cannot see anyhting there for download that looks like a Vodafone build ( even an older one than I have ! ).

Hippo

It will come from Sendo, and it will be obviously a Vodafone UK build...it will make sense when everything's updated on the webisite.

Just wait a couple of days...

Thats because there have been no updates for the Vodafone one yet. That is one of the newest currently available...

how come nothin from sendo can be on time? the x came out with a hmmm 8(?) month delay , the 60c firmware which was supposed to come out a month ago is still not out. what kinda makes me mad is that how come the x with all of its delay still has soooooo many problems??? i mean my friends cheap ass nokia 3100 doesnt vibrate once u answer the phone. i understand that bein such a "high-tech" phone the x has some bugs but come on, i have never had a phone that vibrates after u answet the call!! seems as if everybody who works on x are more busy sayin " hear more(vibrations😃) see more( but not only 256 colors on the now screen ) and what was it play more( but u wont have sound on the pinball game which comes pre-installed )" than makin sure the phone works ok when u answer calls. anyways bein an optimistic person i hope the new fw will fix some of these problems, for the rest i guess we will have to wait til 2005. i guess ownin the x is kinda like ownin a morgan. u have somethin that not everybody has or has heard of but on the other hand u have to get it fixed every other month😃
hey plinky since u work for sendo is there anyway u can tell me which application sends the IMEI number to the network when u switch it on? i would luv to turn that application off since in iran the network still works with blacklists and greylists and stuff which means i dont have any coverage in iran since my imei is not registered(well actually i did register it with the network 2 weeks ago but they told me it takes 20-40 days to have my phone work, hmm i wonder if the iranian network is run by sendo😃)

yes Boogie,

if you find the answer to your investigation on the iranian network, i would like you to know the solution for it as well

thanks

Hello everybody, I new here.. 😃

Well I've got some questions for kev, as seen as apparently he works for sendo.

1) have you got any date for the release of the dutch firmware so I can stop refreshing that damn update page every 5 mins... 😃

2) Some remarks now (hope it helps for the future update) I have a X (fw 50)for about a month now and globally I 'm satified, but some things clearly don't work, for example:

How is that my sd card is so slow??? It's very fast on my dig. camera, but uploading mp3's with the sendo is really slow...other phones are faster so is it sofware or hardware?? the same goes for videos: while recording on the phone, it works ok but on the camera the framerate is about 2fps...oups!

Why does the format operation takes about 1 hour for 512mb??? that's not normal, it takes a second on every other phone/camera..

The "next" operation on the mp3 player takes a year!!!! when you've got 100 mp3's it's really annoying is that fixed on the "updated" mp3 player? I've installed ogg player it changes songs ultra fast but still has some bugs with the sendo...

please.. I'm begging you...please do a theme editor... the 2 themes sendo and curves are terrible...really. at least offer to choose a background and a color scheme for the menu screen... it can't be that difficult as 2 themes are already done so..please do that for us!!!

I've got a other problem too when I'm sending a picture frow my motorola e398 to my sendo X it doesn't recognize the file... that's strange as it's a simple jpeg file...

voila, those are my major problems... 🙄

3) That phone is awesome, really but those 'little' problems are too annoying for me to keep it, so could you tell me witch are solve, if any, in the new firmware and if you're going to write a theme editor...please... 😊

Ok, this issue should probably be in a separate thread, but.. I agree with you on the format issue and the mp3-issue. I started to format my very expensive Ultra-II 1Gb SD-Card from SanDisk, but soon realized that it was hopeless to wait for the phone to format it.

The SD-card can be formatted with my PC, the MP3-issue though is more irritating.

I have adressed Sendo directly with this, and the reply I have got was that the MP3 player is "buffering" to ensure smooth playback of the songs, hence the long time to start playing/switching songs on the MP3-player. Personally I doubt this argument, since when you're playing/switching songs stored on the phone memory it goes instantly without waiting!! I doubt the phone is only "buffering" when accessing the memory card, especially since Sendo has told me that their test-results showed that reading/writing from/to a SD-memory card goes faster than from/to phone memory! Also, IF the phone is buffering when playing MP3's, why then does the MP3 player resume playing INSTANTLY after I have fast-forwarded for e.g. 2minutes in a song and release the forwarding button?? (Even when playing MP3 from memory card). Sendo must not tell me that the MP3 player is buffering for 120seconds or even more, so this is rubbish in my opinion.

And yes, the proof is also in the fact that other software are switching/starting to play MP3's instantly even if they are stored on a memory card (have even tried with a slower MMC card), e.g. UltraMP3 and Helix Player (RealOne). (Still audio quality with UltraMP3 is bad).

So, In my opinion this is a software-issue that should be sorted out in a new firmware ASAP! What is the point of using the phone as an MP3 player when it takes ages to switch songs?? I have filled my 1GB SD card with MP3's, but switching songs goes tooo slooooooooow.

Also with the MP3 player you should notice, if you want to play the previous song you have to wait for approx 10sec into the current song before you hit the back/previous button, otherwize you just restart the current song. This is very annoying. There should have been a "restart" option, and the option to browse back and forward through the MP3 library instantly without the annoying waiting time.

The Sendo X has a 120Mhz ARM9 processor and in addition a ARM7 DSP sound processor, I can not understand these high waiting times with this hardware specifications. I doubt my old Sony Music-walkman has this kind of computing power, still switching songs and forwarding back and forward goes insanely fast with it!! Also multitasking with the X when playing MP3's is not much better than on a regular Nokia with only 100Mhz ARM9 processor and no ARM7 DSP processor.

I personally think that this is not just an mp3 problem, virtually every application on my X takes ages to start, even switching between the now screen and my pane takes ages, and sometimes (quite often) I have to remove the battery to do this.

I think that the software/hardware is seriously flawed and to be honest I dont really think f/w updates are going to solve the problem.

It will soon be the end of november, nearly a month after we were told the f/w should be here (unofficially).

If the f/w is ok, then why have sendo not updated it on their site, how hard is it for a company (I am assuming with an IT department) to upload the files to their web server, if I had a file to upload it would take me a matter of minutes, not days or even weeks.

I think sendo realise that they have got big problems with this phone. I reckon the best thing is for them is to redesign it before they get a seriously BAD name for themselves, this phone really should have put Sendo on the mobile phone map, instead I think its been a total flop for everybody who uses it (well everybody on here anyway).

Yes its got great features - but half of them dont work

yes its got powerfull processors - but they dont work quickly enough

Yes it looks nice - but it has squeeky keys and dust gets into the screen

Yes its got good A/V specs - but the speakers crackle, mp3 player doesnt work etc

Yes it is based on a popular platform with loads of apps - but most of them are incompatable

Yes it has great connectivity specs - but it doesn't connect/receive txt msg etc

Maybe Sendo have never heard the saying - If a jobs worth doing, its worth doing right, I am just wondering what would happen if I finished a house renovation and not tightened the plumbing joints, or secured the electrical wiring, I dont think the owner would be happy with me saying that I may come back at the end of the month, maybe!!!!!!! to finish the job that should have been done right in the first place.

I am getting PI**ed if with this phone, if the f/w doesnt solve my problems then its going back.

I feel better now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really !!?? Is the new firmware that good?
I just swapped a new X from Vodafone today. The old one can't even start up.:con?
I didn't know what happen... I didn't install anything at all ... just FExplorer.
I am looking forward of the new firmware. I hope it will solve my problems.
come on......release it.....it's been like a week😡

yeah, i think ive decided that if this firmware doesnt fix most of the issues with the phone, and make it more useable, then its going back.
Ive been used to my se k700i for teh last few months, and as a phone its streets ahead of the sendo!
The only reason I want the sendo is to run more apps, but I cant find much that works and is useful! The only advantages so far for me is the the betetr web and email, and I use blogia for sticking stuff on my blog.

I could not agree more!!! Being a "so called" Symbian S60 phone, almost NOTHING
WORKS!! This is the LAST CHANCE for Sendo to remedy things,
if this firmware does not get things into shape, then it is over for me and the
Sendo X and I am gonna demand my money back.

I am currently asking TomTom if they are gonna make TomTom Mobile compatible with the Sendo X, if they are not, the phone will be returned regardless!

Hi all

After playing a day with the new release (Telefonicas one) I have found two things:

There are problems when the mp3 player is on and you receive a call:
I had the mp3 player playing some songs and then i made some calls to the sendo... the 3 or 4 first calls where not received. But after them, Sendo started to receive the call, stoping the mp3 player and working perfect.

I have found problems when the phone loss the signal. Sometimes is not able to recover the signal and I must reboot it.

See YA 😊
