morph wrote:Hi all

After playing a day with the new release (Telefonicas one) I have found two things:

There are problems when the mp3 player is on and you receive a call:
I had the mp3 player playing some songs and then i made some calls to the sendo... the 3 or 4 first calls where not received. But after them, Sendo started to receive the call, stoping the mp3 player and working perfect.

I have found problems when the phone loss the signal. Sometimes is not able to recover the signal and I must reboot it.

See YA 😊

Hmmmm,

Not looking good, I am already getting the wrapping paper out preparing to send it back. a phone should work as a phone first and formost, if it doesn't do that then whats the point.

I think the only "smart" thing about this phone is the way it has conned us into beleiving it is something that it clearly is not - SMART !!!!!!

if this is true,

we've all been lied to.

i will sell my X for sure, and i'll have to buy another phone so that i don't miss calls anymore. 😡

PLUS, i won't be able to get my money back i think, i bought this phone in Italy from a webshop, so looks like i'm f**cked.

making us wait so long for the firmware, and still it's full o bugs, and receiving problems, that's how bad it gets !

My X has a few problems but nothing that annoys me to the extent that it apparently does some people.

Meanwhile before you give up why not check out the situation with other Smartphones, the Siemens SX1 forum is an interesting read!

Calm down you lot!

It's been hard enough for us to even come up with a definitive way of reproducing this "MP3 stops calls coming in" problem - if we, as a large community of users can't figure out how to make it happen, how can Sendo figure out how to fix it??? The first step in fixing ANY bug, in any software, is to be able to reproduce it!

WHY won't you all just wait for the firmwares to be released before shouting "we've been lied to" - NO YOU HAVEN'T! - You show me ANYWHERE which proves you've been lied to about this "issue"

If I can wait quietly for the firmware, and at the same time try to HELP other users, WHY can't the rest of you do the same???

The BIGGEST problem the Sendo X has as a phone is the childish attitudes of some of the people in this forum!

If you want me to make a try with something in my phone, theres no problem 😊
Just let me know

Remember that my sw release is: X1.98.5.2 Release IG (3-november-2004)

morph, have you been able to reproduce this problem whereby calls are not received when using the MP3 player? This is the one Cash and Speedman seem to care about most, and I for one have never been able to reproduce the problem.

Hi Stu,

I can see where you are coming from, but lets be honest I have had my phone for nearly 6 months and it dont work, in fact I have been using my nokia 7110 (how uncool is that now) just to receive txt msgs and just to get a stable connection to the network (I travel around alot and need to be in constant contact).

We had the first f/w release, which basically only gave us a new theme (Ididn't notice any other improvement, infact my phone had a few new problems as I mentioned in another thread).

From the spanish guys who have got the latest f/w release we still seem to have 2 of the most common and moaned about problems, not receiving calls when playing the mp3s, and loosing connectivity to the network and not being able to re-establish it - this is with the latest spanish f/w release!!!!!!!!, the release that we we unofficially told would be with us at the end of October.

By the time they get this phone working properly it will be out of date anyway and I will be on my next smartphone.

It is obvious that there is a fundamental problem with the sound chip, no sound in games, cracling in speakers, callers cant hear you on the other end, and the MP3 problem amongst others, as I have said in another post, this all just cant be software related, some of these problems are hardware related and how do we get those fixed.

Its like having a ferrari with a 3 litre engine that can only reach 60 mph, a top end cd system that jumps everytime you drive over a bump and a high spec car alrm that only turns on and off half the time - it looks good, but doesn't deliver.

I dont see venting our anger and opinions as childish, I have emailed sendo several times about the problems and what they are doing about them and had no reply from them, that unprofesional and ignorant.

I am only being negative about this phone because at the moment there is absolutely nothing to be positive about.

As I told yestarday i tried to do it. I found that the firsts calls were missed.

But just now, i tried to reproduce it and it works perfect. with or without rebooting the phone after some time of use....

I dont know ... 😞

I dont have any 3rd party program by now.

The behaviour is : i have an mp3 player. When I receive the call, the player gets in pause mode. Then changes to the now screen and shows whos calling while the ringtone is played. The mp3 player remains in background.

Ill try to repeat the problem i found yesterday

One of the problems is that some people can't reproduce this MP3 issue. Another problem is that no one person here probably has exactly the same set of 3rd party applications installed. These can (and do) cause issues with the phone.

I for one have 2 X handsets, one on the 50C firmware and one on 50F (the Expansys) firmware - the only difference between these is that 50F is slightly quicker at picking up a network after dropping it than 50C is, but to be honest, BOTH of them beat my 6610 or T610 at doing the same thing in the same place. (so same network conditions)

I have NEVER been able to reproduce the MP3 problem - I can make other applications cause what is *perceived* as an MP3 problem, but I can't get those who are ranting about it to do testing in the same way as I have to try narrowing down the problem.

Abd as you said, we were told UNOFFICIALLY when the firmware was *due* for release - all things software related slip, we shouldn't be shooting Sendo for this!

Again, I wish I could reproduce some of these problems, but every game and anything else sound related I have tried on either of my handsets works flawlessly.

I see your point here - all I can suggest is sending a PM to plinkykev to try to speed up the process. I'm sure Sendo's support guys have many hundreds, if not thousands of emails a day to trawl through - unfortunately some *proper* bug reports may get missed amid the large number of duplicates or simple "when is the next firmware out" questions.

Cash, Speedman, Stu:

perhaps i have talked too fast... please give me another day to make more testing.

About the mp3 , now it works perfect
About the reception loss, this evening Ill do the same way back to home (I loss the signal in the place at the office where I have the car) And ill repeat exactly what I did.

Perhaps is an strange error imposible to repeat... who knows.

That sounds like it's working the way it should...

If it was the first few calls after the firmware upgrade, maybe the phone hadn't registered itself on the network properly - I had this when I changed SIM (and ported my number between networks) - I had to reboot the phone once with the new SIM in it to get it to fully register on the network,

Dont get me wrong, I really really really want this phone to work, and I have always said that I will wait untill the next f/w (when it gets here), I have my fingers crossed.

We shall wait and see

Hey man, drop your attitude!! 😡

Sendo themself has raised the expectations for this suprer-duper-mega-phone with extra Sound DSP chip, sonix sound dual chamber blablabla...

Do you really think it is weird people are furios paying 420 for a symbian S60 "smart"-phone that does NOT WORK as a phone, does run 1% of the available Symbian S60 software ++++++++ all the other issues!!??

From Sendo's marketing of this phone I agree with the people claiming we have been fooled/lied to!! (until it works as it is intended/claimed to in the marketing)

I think people bought this phone because they wanted something special, man did they get something special!!!!!!!!

😡

i said IF this is true.
slight nuance !!!

I am not saying that this is the case here as I dont have that information, but is certainly sounds like it.

I have seen stuff like this happen several times with products I have been involved with in the past, where the company has spent so much time and money on a product that they cant get right that they have to release it whether it works properly or not hoping that either no one will notice or hoping to fix the problems as they arise.

The facts seem to speak for themselves.

The Sendo x was supposed to be the most advanced stable smartphone to be released.....last year, what happens

We get an 8 month delay because they want to "get it right" and the phone aint no good,

then we get a f/w update and the phone aint no good,

then we get a new f/w update, sorry the spanish people do to keep em quite, (I just cant see why they dont release all the firmware together if they are all finished), obviously word is getting out in spain that the sendo is cr*p and its not selling, and the phone still seems to be no good.

Its 12 months down the line now since I decided to get an X and I got a pile of junk at the moment that sits in the drawer gathering dust while I use my old faithfull 7110 untill the next firmware comes out.

This is all IMHO.

These are the facts at the moment as I see them. when the new firmware is eventually released, maybe tomorrow (oh I forgot tomorrow never comes), then I reserve the right to change my opinion, untill then my opinion stands.

Sorry Stu but we can all sit and wait queitly for the firmware to be released, but if we did that it never would be.

I don't have any real problems with this phone except for the fact that before I bought it I saw they advertised the extra sound dsp chip and some special graphics chip. I don't see/hear anything special (except stereo speakers) with games or anything, and the sendo somewhat lacks compatibility. For example, alot of my games don't play sound correctly however the video is fine. Yewnes, goboy, doom, and a few other games won't play sounds. This is about the only problem I've found so far with the phone. Oh, and when running agile messenger 24/7 the battery only lasts about 1.5 days, or if I run it sparingly and turn the phone off overnight the battery will last about 2.5 days. Somewhat bad battery life.

It may be the classic case that only the people with problems air their views, I know that if my phone worked OK then I wouldn't be so "vocal" as I am, infact I would have nothing to complain about.

I think we all suffer from bad battery life, but understand that as a smart phone it will inevitably use more power.

Which firmware version are you using as a matter of interest.

Cash, I can apreciate what you're saying, but I think you may have been just a tad harsh in your last message...

I know I keep saying "sit and wait quietly"; I also know I am itching to get my hands on this firmware just as much as you are. ok, the phone is usable for me, there's a couple of annoyances, but nothing which would make me go back to my 7110 *phew!*

I do know however, that Sendo are still doing development work on the phone's software - I know for a fact that there's another firmware planned after the 60D release, and I doubt it will be the last one they do for the phone. Yes, this delay is annoying, very annoying, but Sendo are a small company, and this is their first series 60 smart phone, and to me it still knocks spots off most of the competition (Nokia really should look at Now! and the stereo speakers / headset, I love them!), so all I'm saying is "cut them a bit of slack...I'm sure they'll get it right" (eventually) 😊

Lets hope so Stu,

My arguments are put to bed untill the next firmware

I have only had my Sendo for a couple of days, but i am very impressed with it. I think that Sendo has definitely made a decent smartphone that stands up to the competition. Yes it has its problems, but name one phone that doesn't?

You spent the money on this phone for a reason, and since we are getting updated on progress of Firmware (which is offered freely) i would certainly give them a chance. I know im willing to wait and update my phone when the time comes 😊

I've just switched from a PalmOne Treo 600, which while an excellent phone ina brilliant form factor (that keyboard implementation is truly addictive), in twelve months, there was one single official firmware upgrade and a list as long as my arm of really serious bugs.

Now that I have my Sendo, it's so nice to see a company who understands the need to provide fixes and understands the telco environment well enough to be able to provide them. It's surprisingly difficult to get firmware changes through when one has contracts with GSM providers, so I can only applaud Sendo on their record.

Of course, waiting an extra day for that next firmware upgrade is truly painful! Hurry up Sendo! 😊

Cheers,

David

You guys are quick! haven't you got anything else to do?

plinkykev has had to step out for a moment so I was just gonna let you know the good news and you beat me to it 😞

and of course the Telefonica one went up last week.

Still to come are the following:-

8Y0H-08171-0X000 German v1.98.5.2 (60)

and

8Y0H-01172-4X000 Vodafone UK v1.98.5.2 (60)

is dependent on Vodafone approval.

Enjoy! and let's have some feedback (as if you need encouragement!)

Excellent news 😊

The only problem is that I have to wait till I get home tonight to flash my phone... why didn't I bring my USB cable into work???

same here stuclarck !!!

and after i have a meeting, so it won't be untill later tonight i can update it ! 😞

anyway, i will be checking the forum on my X later on, so let me know your findings people !

please check the MP3 bug as well !

try also files with 192 khz and 128

they seem to give the problem if i might believe some

finally they are out fiew !

With regard to MP3s, one thing I have found is that the phone doesn't like low bit rate, low quality MP3s. If you set a file to be say 16KHz, 48kbps, then playback will be awful, yet if you re-sample the file at 48KHz and 128kbps, then playback will be great 😊 - that's something worth thinking about if you're having general playback issues with MP3s. (and I don't know - maybe it's connected with the calls problem as well, seeing as I've never been able to reproduce that error)

i don't have mp3z smaller dan 128 khz

so it can't possibly be that,

sry...

i think the mp3 player asks too much of the phone to be reacheable too.

!SPEEDMAN@work wrote:i don't have mp3z smaller dan 128 khz

just now, because i was listening to mp3 on my phone, i missed a call (at that time i didn't know it), but we have a function on our networks here, that send you an automated sms telling you when somebody called with which number.

the messager reached me though, because the mp3 start crackling, then i got the sms saying who called me. i paused the mp3, checked the message, then called that person back with another phone at the office, then wanted start playing mp3 again, and it wouldn't hit off... mp3 blocked totally, couldn't even close it with the taskbar of the nowscreen.

so i rebooted...

this is so buggy ! 😞
