Thought I'd backup and format, but each time I try to backup contacts the phone reboots.Last night I received an O2 XDA2 business card. I don't believe that's what screwed it, but I'm gonna have to lose all my contacts now just to format the damn phone 😞
No need to format your phone ,,
Deleting the C:\SYSTEM\DATA\PTIT9UDB0F.DAT should fix your problem.
Apparently this file contains added T9 dictionary inputs (the entries you create yourself). For some reason this easily gets corrupted & literally disables your phone (a silly firmware bug by the sounds of it).
As soon as the file is deleted the phone comes back to life again, allowing you to send text, view contacts, everything should be back to normal.
Hope this helps

D_BIZZZZ,
Where have you heard that the file is T9 related?
That what i was guessing at first, but i am pretty sure its not now.
Have you exported the file to yor pc and opened it? Has anyone else?
It does look to be the T9 user word list.
I deleted the file then only added two words, "minge" and "flange". Both were in the new PTIT9UDB0F.DAT that was automatically created, along with "thing" and "at" for some reason.
Added a few more words and they all showed up in the file.
Also, if you have a look at the filename: PTIT9UDB0f.dat... not sure what the PTI might stand for, but the middle bit is blatantly "T9 user database".
Regardless, it's a major fuckup and Nokia needs to sort it.
Yeh the fact that it included loads of words that must already be in the dictionary is what made me think it was not T9.
Mine also includes parts of scentences and phrases.
Oh well, as you say.
It needs fixing!!! 😊

Mine don't have any sentences or phrases, just a couple of words that were already in the dictionary ("at" and "thing"😉, in addition to the words I added when using T9.
Maybe the "PTI" at the beginning of the filename has got something to do with it. I was trying to work out what it could stand for, but could only come up with "pustulating tit infection".
Personal Text Index................................. 😕
How can I found PTIT9UDB0F.DAT file on the phone/MMC?
I've just finished talking to Orange for over an hour they now admit there is a problem with all handsets and are working on a fix but can not say when they will have it. Also he said they might be recalled and have stopped selling them.
I hasseled them for ages for when the fix will be ready but said they could not say. I told him in there must be a timescale he said it could be days, weeks or months.... :frown: have asked for a call back tomorrow with an update

I have also just received this latest firmware version from Orange and everything seems ok for now - touch wood. Video Answerphone seems to work now where as before DTMF tones didn't work during video call...
