Hi,
Got a problem here after having upgraded to the latest firmware: GPRS doesn't work any more. I've tried with the phone's WAP browser, NetFront, ProfiMail and WorldMate, they all fail with errors such as "DNS error", "settings problems" or similar messages. They all worked fine before with the same SIM card. I can see the GPRS icon blinking and then going in the Connected state (not blinking anymore) but then it fails.
I'm on Virgin Mobile UK and i've redownloaded the GPRS settings (Virgin Enhanced) from the Virgin Web Site but still got the problem. I also made sure that i was connecting through the proper GPRS profile. Is anybody else experiencing this problem or is it Virgin's fault?
Cheers
I'm seeing something similar, although I haven't fully tested the problem out yet. (cause I have awful coverage at home)
Well, GPRS is broken here too 😞
I've tried everything now, but everything that depends on GPRS does not work - MMS, WAP and Internet.
Is there a way to get the GPRS dlls and exes of the last firmware and install them on the phone memory? hmm... maybe we could start a kind of "underground" modding of the Sendo X, now that the company is gone...

This does indeed appear to be a problem, no matter which version of the firmware you use. (I've just tried it on 3 of them)
Sendo know about it, and have promised to do what they can to help, however, how much that will be know is your guess as much as it is mine 😞
Likewise, comfort in that I'm not alone - gulp.
What about installing the old firmware, anyone think that would work, as a last resort of course?
Please disregard last post, panic caused processing problems between eye and brain......

Infact, going back (downgrading) to the previous firmware DOES cure the problem!

Well, yes, i would assume that the firmware upgrade didn't physically destroy the phone 🙄 . But downgrading is not really a solution, is it?
yes i am also having this problem, after flash to new expansys firmware, gprs aint workin anymore and i m from pakistan got this precious piece of art from ebay and got it mailed to pakistan all the way. Even though i knew all the bugs about this fabulous thingy. I m in love with it. I punish my self for dropping it 3 times. and i think there is bug in the new easystart thingy. ooh my agile messenger
Even so, i think i still continue with the new firmware.
So much time waiting...
Or maybe i'll grab a promotion of my operator a buy with a friend of mine an nokia 6680 (599eur, they give another as gift, so 300eur for each. Only until 15/7).
I was pleased with the new firmware and not thinking abou this but now... i don't know what to do... :frown:
My Expansys Sendo X have same problems. Iam going to the previous version😞 Or, do you think, may help upgrade to the latest, but instead of Expansys, for example to European BE version?
BTW, internet per bluetooth seems to work OK.
"BTW, internet per bluetooth seems to work OK."
What do you mean by that?
Does it mean u can use internet via a buetooth access point?

Nope, read stuclark's post above.

They haven't actually, but they were so rushed to get this firmware out the door that I don't think it got the testing it needed after the final builds were done.
I know the pre-builds worked ok, but unfortunately we can't get our hands on those.

None of my comments are repeatable in here.
Btw fyi, I do software Q&A amongst other stuff for a living.
Yes, "unfortunate" is an understatement!

No. I can browse only on my PC (via Bluetooth). This is the only one connection now working with my Sendo.
Sorry, my English is not very good😊
Downgrade to X 1.98.5.2 Expansys successfully! GPRS works again.

Actually they didn't...
stuclark wrote:...but they were so rushed to get this firmware out the door that I don't think it got the testing it needed after the final builds were done...
Not true. This build was done some time ago, and tested by operators. We will try to continue to look into the problem. It could be just a problem with the download mechanism.
LOL - It's funny to see you two arguing about it...so ok, who told me the real story ? 😊
Whichever, Kev, Andy, ... please help us out ( I know the constraints)... 😊
What's all this about cat skinning? Isn't that still illegal in this country? 😉

How could it be? A roasted cat BBQ sauce wouldn't be that good if we had to leave the skin, don't you think so? 😃
Hi all,
I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise personally for this mistake. In the confusion on wednesday the wrong file was packed into the executable. Normally this would have been spotted, a final check is always performed on this kind of thing but as Sendo were going into administration there was simply no time. It was not a decision Sendo made, but that of a few employees who really wanted to get something out to the loyal Sendo X Customers who have patiently waited for the next release, a release which very nearly never made it.
The problem will be fixed soon.
LEGAL BIT: this message does not contain the views of Sendo LTD but that of the individual.
Thanks for the update guys 😊
If you need somewhere to host the files (if you can't get to upload anything on the Sendo site anymore), SendoSmartphones is more than willing to help. (Andy has the details)

Thanks a lot for the explanation. That's one thing about Sendo that i'll miss: you guys care enough about your customers to acknowledge a bug and try to fix it. When had that Samsung D500, i ran into a prettty bad GRPS bug (although not that bad, limited to Java applications). Despite loads of complaints from developers in the official Samsung forums, Samsung has never bothered acknowledging this bug, let alone provide a workaround or a firmware update to fix it (and that was their flagship model at the time). Almost one year after its release, developers are still wasting their time developing connectivity apps for this phone only to find out when they test it that their app is never going to work on this phone 😡
That really mean something!
With all that was happening, still you care with all of us.
Thank you!
Does anyone have a copy of the previous firmware? I'd like to get my GPRS working again!
It's expansys UK, don't know if you need to know anymore than that. :icon14:
Cheers
Tom
