We discussed this before, but if i understood correctly toshibas device is only meant to be storage, but it would be cool if some crafted developer maneged to code some drivers/software that would enable the device to be recognized as a local drive.
Lucid Dream
Can you explain what you mean by storage? As I understand it, sending something from your phone to the BT HD would be fine, you would just have to click send via BT on the phone, but how would you retreve it again without the aid of a PC?
There would be no way to view what was on the HD directly from your phone. So someone would have to come up with an application or you would have a pretty useless storage device.
Here's li'l question. Is it possible at all, to map the "Paired Device" (or a designated shared folder therein) as a local drive on the phone with some software? If it can be, then data can be accessed, read directly off the paired device, without the storage intervention. It would then be a true extended storage.
(The data off the public folder on the phone (inbox) can be directly read on the computer as of now. Can it be extended otherway)
That's a question I've asked plenty of times but I am yet to receive an answer.
I can't see why not, I mean using a SeleQ type file browser to search for dives via BT can't be all that hard can it?
from what i see it's a matter of months untill such a thing will be out (using selq or whateva to browse a remote HDD via BT !!) and when it will be out the symbian software market will only grow!!
Not to sure that i'll be too bothered about it in a few months, I should have my P800 by then. 😃
I'll still keep my 7650, but I'll mainly be using the P800 (If it's as good as Dazler says it is)

huh... can u buy me one of P800 😃 😃 😃 😃 😃
Hmmmm......P800 u say....? Might me a good piece of Hardware......but its the software side that really get me to thinking! I see the future of smartphones with Symbian thats for sure but I see that Series 60 will be the leading platform and not the UIQ!!! So instead of having a supermachine with no software to play with, I would rather have an OK machine with a lot of software. I havent decided yet, but software support is the No1 reason for buying for me!

Well,my guess is that the device will have some kind of file menager software, like mp3 discmen have, you know, just plain and simple, used only for browsing and sending files via bluetooth.
MP3 Go for the Series60 which is designed for the 3650 has a filemanager like interface to be able to browse the other drive. (MMC)
well, i don't know. I had a palm505 where there was this software called jackflash that actually free up some of the flash rom for your usage, in my case it was a full 1.7M back then.
I guess if nokia can upgrade the firmware of the phone, it should be flash rom as well, so, I guess its possible for the 7650 as well.
Any software delevoper reading this might want to explore this.

Why is it that whenever we go down the "not enough memory" conversation, we always end up talking about Nokia upgrading the phone?
This will never happen in my eyes, thats why the 3650 is being released. People have tried and failed to upgrade these phones, leave them be I say.
