Portable, small Bluetooth 5GB HHD from Toshiba!

48 replies · 6,597 views · Started 15 November 2002

I`ve just read that toshiba announced new toy:

Bluetooth hdd, 5GB capacity, 11cm/7cm/2.2cm.

Name : HopBit B105H

cost around 400US$.

All my spaceghost along with futurama will fit there!

yeah, i 've been told about this before. we just need an app that can stream content to the 7650 via bluetooth.

maybe seleq or efilemanager could acces to this bluetooth device and read directories?

Or there is maybe program whitch make network among bluetooth devices?

What about telnet client? maybe it could acces files through BT?

Final "or" 😃 : What about program called NViever, or Vbrowser or something similar.

It`s very expensive but .... 5GB on 7650 😃

No BT filemanager exists to my knowledge!, If there was I want one (Browse someone's 7650 from yours!) 😉 😃

You could be in luck, the next version of SeleQ is supposedly able to do just that!

Jizzo will review it....

Jizzo waiting eagerly...

Jizzo impatient...

Jizzo want BT Filebrowser...

Jizzo want now!!...

Shove your Milk and Cookies!....Gimmie, Gimmie, Gimmie!

 😃
But that is great if SeleQ really has that, then this product really will be
useful, think of it, 5GB to fill 😃 it will take ages to fill it with just stuff for 7650, unless with mp3's and a BT streaming player, that would be very nice 😃

It looks like it is bigger then the 7650,carrying a 7650 and a HopBit will be the same as carrying two devices, what about a PDA with large storage capacity (if there is such PDA),400$ is too much just for storage.

Pichu as far as I was aware the P800 only has 12Mb of RAM not even approaching the 5Gb on the Tosh drive!!!

Yes but also supports Memory Sticks! Which are currently upto 128mb, but a supposed to be upto 1GB in the not so distant future.

Why the hell do you need 5GB for a 7650 anyway?

I paid for my phone here in finland 650 which is about the same on $
so that 400$ is quite reasonable, and ofcourse that price will fall.

J2theIZZO, I have a copy of the Ericsson white paper on the P800 and there is no mention of Memory Sticks or any port for inserting one in (if you pardon the expression). If you know different then I bow to your greater knowledge.

😃

To follow up my previous post.

It appears that there is a Memory Stick port (up to 64Mb supported at present - Firmware upgrade in future for 128+).

Whoops my mistake

😮ops:

WOW. Finally, the device we have been looking looking forward to is here ( apart from the P800 ofcourse 😉 ) Afterall, we have all felt bogged down by the low space on 7650. This is Great!! 😃 I want to be Euphoric on this, and I almost AM ........BUT....
WHY AM I CONFUSED NOW??

We can now have all the mp3s we so badly wanted. Loooong Videos with Audio. 😃 THEN WHY?? WHY??

IMP3s? Yeah (i've always wanted music on the move, too) BUT...
Is it the Audio rendering Quality/ Limitations of our 7650? (yeah.. Tons of songs, but how enjoyable? in Mono? ) Nah Dont get me wrong! .. .i still looove my 7650. I'm still waiting for the MP3Go..nonetheless!Wake up..wake up M-Internet!!

Normal file storage? Large files!! Never would we lack space again on our 7650!! BUT.....
yeah.. how about a BT Filebrowser/Manager first?

Hm... Super long highier resolution Video with Audio ..aye?? (Max possible on 7650 ofcourse) Sounds Good. BUT....
How about an application first.. that would enable us to write to an external device on the fly? (Only then would it really be helpful for this purpose)

Yeah. Think of all those Games and Applications we can have on our Phone!! BUT....
Can we run applications installed in an external drive/storage?

FIVE GIGS?? 😮 COOL!! 😃 BUT....
How comfortable will we be..carrying around two devices? (is'nt afterall, our 7650 supposed to rid us of lugging around multiple headaches?)

How justified is a $400 storage device? BUT.....
HEY..HOW ABOUT CARRYING SOME MOVIES WITH US??

Whoaa... Now i have something to look forward to :bday:

Am i still lost??

Did i hear someone say..Compromise?

HopBit: 0,08$ / MB
MMC-Card: 0,6$ / MB
MemoryStick: 0,7$ /MB
7650: 175 / MB

I think the price is pretty good.

BTW: The P800 won't feature a MemoryStick-slot, but a MemoryStick Duo-slot, it's a new and smaller version of memorysticks, but it will take a long time until they are available with higher storage-capacities (supposedly only 16MB MSDuo available when P800 is launched).

You are right it is a smaller MemoryStick, but according to the guys from Ericsson (who are visiting my office at the moment!) the phone will likely ship with a 64Mb small form card and come with an adapter to enable transfer of data from the larger standard sticks.

😉

Resonable?!? in what way? Is it resonable to pay 400$ just for storage after you just payed 700$ for a phone? (if i can call the 7650 a phone) Well, not by my standards.

If you look at it this way
[quote="netzmeista"]HopBit: 0,08$ / MB
MMC-Card: 0,6$ / MB
MemoryStick: 0,7$ /MB
7650: 175 / MB

I think the price is pretty good.

Then I think it is cheap. And if I paid 650 for my phone happily then 400 is cheap. 😃

Could it be possible to install apps on this device, with some sort of special software??? Would be way cool! 8)

Damn. Not good. 😞
