Old good Sierra quests (Space Quest, King Quest, Larry, Police Quest etc.) are available now on Nokia 7650. AGI (Advanced Game Interpreter) engine which executes quest script files is ported to Symbian OS. All you need to run it is old Sierra quests' files without any changes. See http://opentrap.narod.ru for screenshots.

Any inidication of when we might see something available for the phone?
Rafe
Does this mean that we can expect a port of Leisure Suit Larry? 😉
>Does this mean that we can expect a port of Leisure Suit Larry?
Yes! And not only Larry but any old 16 color Sierra (and not Sierra) quest. Actually this is difficult to find old 16-colors Sierra games, at the moment we found only Black Cauldron and Space Quest2. We're keen to get Larry!!!
As for "fake" accusion - h-m-m-m... 😉 I have Space Quest 2 on my Nokia7650 and it works! We're looking for a publisher to provide people with all this stuff!
I'm assuming there might besome problem with copyright for the old games.
However if your looking for people to help distributing / publishing I might be able to send you the right way. Please e-mail me if interested.
Rafe
Leisure Suit Larry???! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!!! 😃
When is it coming out?
Dear all!
We'd like very much to test our engine on Larry but we cannot find old 16 color Larry games. We'd be gratefull if anyone could send us these games or just give us, say, address of a site. It's real pain in the ass to find old good games
Dear Rafe!
I found no e-mail in your profile so I left you private message; you can contact me using e-mail [email protected]. Thanks for your assistance.
Ill send you the game so you can try it out..
Alexandro, look for "abandonware" with Google. I'm sure you'll find those old games soon enough.

whens this gonna be out man??///
Roger Wilco!!!!
I love that crazy guy and his quests!!!, come on man, what ya got cooking/?
Dear JyriK
Thank you very much! Got your Larry and tested, works OK.
Dear all,
In general engine is done, we're looking for publisher; I hope release is the questions of few months. Thanks for your interest. BTW, waht do you think, will all these old good quests be popular on mobile phones?
any chance we'll get a 9210 version? 😊
>any chance we'll get a 9210 version?
Good question! Actually I've never seen 9210 phone  ; colud you please answer my questions:
1. Does 9201 run Symbian OS?
2. What is the screen resolution on 9210?
Having answers I can ansewr your question.
BTW, is there 9210 Visual Studio application wizard (like 9210 one)?
Thanks in advance.
You have'nt seen a 9210 😮 Where do you live man!? :P just kidding 😃

I think that less young 😉 people like me will really appreciate those games. I really enjoyed them when they came out. Now I'm looking forward to replaying them on my mobile!
Just try to keep the size small, please. I also liked Doom but at that size it is out of the question for my 7650. 😞
Doom is cool, but the size is'nt. If they could makean app for Toshiba Hob-bit Bluetooth drive so we can install on it, we would have bad ass games!
Limited by the graphical stuff of the 7650 itself, but who cares! We can watch movies! (now now, lets not get carried away, i think i should stop here! 😃)
While you look for a publisher, why not upload the software to Handango or a creditcard merchant website like Paypal or WorldPay so that we cans till purchase and download the software? You'll make far more this way than with a publisher, short term and it gives you a source of revenue while you search for one.
Thanks for the link to 9210 docs! From what I read I understood that 9210 runs Symbian OS of previous version. AFAIK our engine with skight chnges will work OK on this OS. And screen resolution event better on 9210 than on 7650!
As for game size - we take Sirerra game resources "as is". Sirera games are from 100Kb up to 1 Mb size. What do you think - is it OK for 7650?
I think 100K is OK, but 1MB is absolutely NOT OK!! I need a few apps on my 7650 and I cannot spare that much memory for one game or even one app!
Maybe you wish to try compressing them, something like the Quake .pk3 files. Or even split the game into levels that we can load seperately from the PC. What do you say?
2petran
Well, not a bad idea to compress files. But it'll take some time to implement. BTW, all classic quests are about 400-500 Kb. I have Larry1 and Space Quest2 simultaneously on my phone. New screenshots from Larry coming soon! Thanks again, JyriK!

let me have it, let me have it! Please set up a paypal or something so we can buy a copy ASAP
Alexandro, I'm glad you liked the idea. I guess you know that the Quake .pk3 files I mentioned are just .zip files renamed to pk3. So you may also want to use the standard zip compression algorithm, which may not take too much time to implement but would save a lot of space. Although 400-500k is tolerable, simply zipping them could save us about 200k or more! Wouldn't that be wonderful?
Any chance of letting us have a small demo or level to see how it looks and feels on the 7650?
Im very down with the idea of all these old serria games on the phone but really do you need to charge for it?
I mean your basically just making it so its simple to install and emulated to run on the 7650, not like you actually made the game itself, infact the game isnt even produced anymore.
Thats like getting a freeware open source notepad application, putting it on the phone and charging for it. ahh I dunno
Im down with your project, but I dont have a C/C and no way to pay for products online,. so where does that leave me?
Simply put :when can I get it?The emulator is probably the only program that I won't spend time looking at the net to get it downloaded for free.
Anyway using advamced compressing programs you guys will hopefully get the programs to be in the 100-150kb range.
Imagin have leisure suit larry 1,2&3 and space quest 1,2&3 at the same time.
I haven't got a nokia 7650 yet and I am Drooling!
AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG!!!!!
space quest was a bloody awesome game, but being a text/minimal graphics driven game, having to type "throw grenade" and press enter at exactly the right moment had me pulling my hair out on my 386.. i cant imagine having to type things with precision on a number pad!
im gonna have to pass on these sorta games.. it will just end up me having a very expensive, smashed, box of circuits from frustration. :P

So true! 😃 That could really happen. 😃
Well I am using IRC and typing like hell, I sure could manage something like that!
