I suppose its just belts and braces. For a few quid you have the peace of mind that if your battery does go and you are not at home or at work.
I always (95% of the time anyway) let my battery go so flat that the phone powers off, so there is a good chance that it will fail when I am not at desk or home.

yea I had a power cut last night and my battery was almost dead and I couldn't charge it, so I had to turn of the phone throughout the night because I had a couple of important calls to make in the morning, thankfully the power was back on by the time I woke up.
Cash: your question "I cant understand why they didnt make the phone able to charge through the USB cable, when I am at home or in the office my phone is nearly always connected to my PC."
there was a usb cable on ebay that did both USB and charge. heres the link. Link to EBAY usb charge cable bit expensive though!!!

Cheers, I will have a look round see if I can get it cheaper anywhere
mine came today, charging it up
I will let you know how I get on
Nokia makes one that can be used with th N80 if you use the adapter cable that came with the phone (or at least one came with mine 😊 )
Its the CA-70 try searching for it.
Theres also a deskstand out : DT-13

I received this battery to-day it came partially charged, and showed full charge on the phone after about half hour of charging. I'll report back on how long i get out of it.

You should still leave it on a long charge with the phone off for the first few charges that way you het the full potential half an hour isn't long enough, mine arrived also I'm waiting for my desktop charger to arrive then I'm gonna charge it for about 16 hours and reapeat with both batteries for about 4 charges. I've been reading this has helped a lot of people with their N80's
26 hours since it finished charging
all battery bars are still showing and I left the bluetooth connection on overnight by accident
I've made a few calls, sent quite a few texts and used the camera a dozen or so times
Not sure about leaving it on for 16 hours etc the manual clearly says not to do this

Wow thats a massive improvement.
Yes I recieved mine today too. Only took 2 days to arrive from germany. So far spot on, been on deskcharger since 9 AM and says fully charged now. Will see over next few days but for 8.50 cant be bad.

well it has collapsed like an England middle order
1 bar left
I did use Wlan for about an hour mind you
So is this a good idea or not, should i buy one??

Same as. Charged for 16 hrs. Died sooner than the standard battery. Will give it the recommended 3 more 16 hour charges but wouldn't recommend it on its 1st charge results.
Could someone that has bought one of the high powered batteries that has had success with it post the name of it, model and power of it. Dont want to chance buying a random battery of ebay and find its a fake or does not work etc
Thanks for any info if anyone can 😊

Doesn't look like that charges the phone though.
cause i found it also on ebay.de and i wanted to know if there's a big diffrence that worth buying the battery of the 1900mAh
danke! 😊
According to some forums the Nokia BL-6C can be used as a higher powered replacement in some phones, but it is a bit thicker, so it depends how much room there is in the phone !
Anyone tried it in an N80 ??
i got one of those 1900 mah batteries from that german ebayer.
currently it is performing very badly. it goes from 3 bars to 1 in the blink of an eye, and overall seems to last less time that the old nokia battery. and that's not even taking into account that i am using the phone less than i used to now the novelty is wearing off.
i'll see if the capacity increases with more charge cycles but it's had 2 full charges and i am down to one bar and it's beeping at me now. (charged it up overnight. played mp3's for about an hour and about 5 mins of phone calls, and 6 hours after turning it on it's down to one bar.)
i may have to brush up on my german to leave an appropriate feedback.

Try this phrase
diese Batterie ist ein Stapel von Scheie
i just recharged it again. After about half an hour it said battery full.
now the charger is 890 mA and it's a 1900 mAh battery so by my calculation it needs to be charging for a bare minimum of 1hr and 9 minutes. So something is fooling the charger into stopping the charger.
I assume because it's a lithium polymer battery instead of lithium ion, that it has a slightly different voltage profile, so the charger thinks it is full too early and stops charging.
basically i don't think you could describe this battery as being compatible with the n80.
i could use a seperate charger for the battery but that's hardly practical.
Folks, be careful - high power battery might be too much for the phone - overheat.
I hope Nokia will come out with a better long lasting battery for N80.
Well my battery last about 8hours but i listen music use WLAN for 30 minutes.

Did you notice it says "upto 1200mAh" on the label, seems like a bit of a "get out clause" to me, I think we should wait and see if nokia are going to bring something more official out and make do with what we have, I am guessing this is probably the smae as the 1900 mAh that didnt work, but with a different label on it.
Dont forget
If it looks too good to be true, it probably is,
I will be buying an original Nokia replacement battery as a back up.
Hi filks,
I got one of those baterys from zey germans and after the full first charge it lasted about 35 hours. That wasnt with lots of use.. Maybe 3 or 4 short calls 15 msgs and a few mins LAN time, but still a lot better than the standard one im prety sure and now i have a spare battery too so well worth it..
For the sake of 14 euro or so well worth it..
If i do have problems ill keep you posted
I have also one of the German 1900mAh batteries and after about 5 full charge cycles (outside the phone) it lasts now about 1.6x as long as the original battery.
It did do very badly after the first cycle but seems to be improving with every cycle.
Considering that I can get 6 german batteries for the same price Nokia charges for one BL-5B it is well worth the money. Even if it turns out that it only lasts for 6 or 8 months, it still would be cheap and worth the money.
Seems a few expanded battery solutions are now appearing, hopefully nokia will see fit to do something themselves.
For the moment though, my 1100mah LEO battery seems to be doing very well, initially i gave it a crap charge but now ive been properly charging / discharging it, it definately has been improving, doesnt get very hot either which is always a positive sign 😊
If anyones interested the seller is TracyChur on ebay.

That battery will be compatible with the N80, as it is the same as mine, my one has 5140 as one of the models printed on the battery.
Build quality is very sturdy and is so far proving to be a worthwhile power boost 😊
i have a couple of questions for those people who bought the german 1900 mAh batteries and use a deskcharger.
you see i think there is a problem with how the n80 charges this battery. i think it is being fooled that it's fully charged up so stops charging after about 30 minutes.
from what i have been reading, the people with deskchargers are getting reasonable useage out of them. Is this correct? has anyone without a deskcharger got a decent amount of time out of this battery.
secondly, after going through a few cycles with an external deskcharger, will the battery now charge normally in the phone?
by my calculation a flat battery should take more than 2 hours to charge up with the nokia (890 mA) charger.
