Nokia N93 - ask any questions and I'll (try to) answer

I am having no problems at all with my N93, except for the full memory message when playing videos, but it seems it has dissapered when I installed a 2G memory card.

I know!!!

But this message has stopped bugging me since I installed a larger memory and it comes back when I stick the original one.

New owner here too. All is fantastic so far with no problems apart from memory. Should be fixed when my card arrives next week.

I'm trying to work out if RM player will stream live TV over wifi. I have a few links to BBC and other channels I'd like to watch.

edit: Yup it will do!
If anybody wants to do the same this has a link to lots of sites http://wwitv.com/portal.htm

I am getting the option to buy an N93 for around 350 off ebay. I have spoken to the seller and he seems OK but is unsure of the warranty. He says the phone is boxed and doesn't know if there's a warranty inside...

Does anyone know how the warranty works? Do Nokia put it inside the box or...?

Any advice appreciated.

Will it do VoIP, as there are SIP settings inside? Didn't get a satisfactory answer in my 1st thread. Rather can it be set up to do it?

I don't know if this was covered elsewhere and if it was then please forgive me for asking again.

How is the sound quality on this phone? Is it loud enough? Is the speakerphone loud enough? What about the music output?

Thank you very much for all of the insightful information.

Just got my N93 this weekend and am trying various things. I tried to send a ring tone from my 6680 by BT, but got the message "cannot send file as it is protected media" (it is a midi ring tone which I have transferred from my Sendo to various others as the old phones have either given up or been put aside.
I therefore decided to do it by card reader, but the card shows up as Read Only. Unlike larger cards, ther eis no slide I can find. How can I put files onto the card? Can I only do it via PC Suite, or do I have to do something else to redefine the card's properties?

Is there any equivalent to PC Suite for the Mac?
Thanks

Steve

I think I may be being daft, but when I receive a call from someone in my contacts list on my N93, instead of coming up with their name, it comes up with the number, making it rather difficult to identlfy the caller. Any ideas? Ive checked everywhere I can think of.

Search on your list if You have more than one time the same number. Clean all, and leave only one.

there are no duplicates!

Sure about... If You have a lot of contacts with multiple numbers, are You sure that are no duplications?

definitely none - I transferred all ine over from my old phone and there had been some duplication, so had to sit down and go through and make sure I deleted them all.

Maybe any other have a new idea...:frown:

This happens if you have two or more contacts with the same number, but different names.

Anybody know what settings (Video Bitrate, resolution, Audio Bitrate etc) should be used when I convert a DVD to work on my N93?

The software I use is ImToo 3gp convertor or SUPER from www.erightsoft.com

Hi,

I have recently taken ownership of a lovely n93 having previously owned an n90. I use both devices in the car for tom tom so purchased a nf11 car kit ( the 30+ one with a speaker that plugs in the cigarette lighter wioth a fly lead that plugs in the phone).

The n90 charged and worked as does a friends n70 and I have tried a 6680 but the n93 does not despite the 'internet' sales sites telling me this car kit is compatable with the n93.

Have thesymbian OS changed to not allow charging from current Nokia connectors or is this a nokia hardware failing. Either way its pretty bl***y annoying that I now have to fork out more money for a car kit when the one I have works OK.

Has anyone found this issue?

Regards

Fullfx

It should work fine. I've been charging my N93 from a variety of chargers and accessories designed for the 6630, and it's been fine. I think there's a fault on your unit.

I have just got a friends N93 & i installed the E50 blackberry connect sopftware on it & it installed & now in the folder My Own i got an iconthat says APN Wizard with a small BB logo on it. when i clcik that it takes me to the blackberry setup & i can click NEXT, after that it asks me if i want to configure Blackberry Soultions or Instant Email. i can select either of them, but nothign elase happens after that.

do you think that BB will work on N93?

3gp sux, you'd better use mpeg4. I get excellent results using SUPER. Container: mpeg4, video-codec: mpeg4, sound codec: AAC. Resolution 320x240, videobitrate 576 or a bit more, audio 48khz stereo 128kb/s. With these settings a 700mb movie boils down to about 400mb. A cartoon to about 100. The quality is so high, you can comfortably watch it on a television!!

Furthermore, these settings are compatible with ipods and PDA's. So if you rip something and whish to share it, that's good news for a lot of people.

If you reduce sound quality that makes a lot of difference in the filesize.

@ammarammar

You're using programmes for S60 1st and 2nd series symbian phones. You need S60 3rd series programmes. It's new so there's not a lot out there for it just yet but they're coming.

And please don't use such large writing, most people consider it rude.

HELP NEEDED!!
my n93 doesnt seem to be working properly..sigh
first, y is it that when i install a theme in my memory card and use it, it always gets resetted to the default theme(blue one) when i off and on my phone?
but when i install it in the phone memory everything is fine..

secondly, when i install an application(eg agile messenger) in my memory card, it works fine first but then when i reset my phone(off and on), the application doesnt work at all.. i open the application but nth happens.. i eject and insert the sd card and it works again(when the phone is on).. but only when i reset the phone then the application doesnt work..this also happened to the mobile filmmakers application pre-installed in the sd card.. i tried to reformat the sd card but nth seems to work..
HELP REALLY NEEDED!!
thanks in advance to any1 who replies!!

Yeah, I get this problem too. I ended up installing a load of apps to the phone instead. If I install it to the memory card, when I eventually switch the phone on (say after a recharge), the application is unavailable.
