LOL... ok, so he takes loads of piccies with his 7650 😊 I do too, but I'll be arsed if I'm gonna go to prison not having paid the extortionate GPRS charges Orange impose uploading them 😞
As soon as the FTP side of things hit the site, expect LOADS from me 8)
Even though most of the pics were uploaded by you 😃 this site has potential!
thanks.
but i have to admit: i'm not the top scorer. a guy from (finnland?) is in front of me.
i am preparing a top 5 uploader list ...
There is NO WAY ON EARTH I am going to pay extortionate fees to Orange for their GPRS bundles...
I'd rather withdraw 20 notes from a cash point and set fire to them... 😮
GPRS has got to be made cheaper... :x
If everybody thinks like you Orange will never lower their GPRS prices. You just have to face the disadvantage of being an early adopter 😉 .

LOL, well, I don't use Orange GPRS, so, if everyone thinks like me, Orange won't make a bean from GPRS :P Plank!
You're saying we should stump the cash then wait for Orange to drop the charges? Pfffft, methinks not! It's it the be all and end all, let alone anything 'fast' :agrue:
Does anybody really understand the way Orange charge for GPRS in the UK ?? Perhaps someone can explain it to me 😮ops:
It seems as if you can add a 4 Access Pack to your bill (either for GPRS or HSCSD) that allows you unlimited WAP access - although in the small print, there's a 10Mb per month limit.
But then you have GPRS 'bundles' that cost 4 p/m for 500k of data transfer!! You can use this for internet connections, mail, etc - rather than just wap. I think :-?
I mean, what's the difference?? Surely a GPRS connection is a GPRS connection, if that makes sense?
No, there are two types of GPRS connections.
GPRS-WAP
GPRS internet
And that GPRS internet connection works with wap too, atleast here in Finland 😃

Aha. Thanks for that JyriK. That would explain the difference in the prices I suppose.
BTW - if you don't mind me asking, how much do you pay in Finland for GPRS data transfer? 4 for 500k seems ridiculously expensive in Britain, but I wonder how it compares around the world.
4 in Britain is equivalent to about 37 Finnish Markka according to a currency conversion website I just used. 😊

That's the deal I had for precisely one month... Rather stiff over quota charges too if you exceeded your monthly limit 😞 You can use the connection for whatever you feel like. I used it primarily for sending LONG txts via email basically.
When broadband connections are ubiqutous as the good old fashioned POTS, and when GPRS or HSCSD is the 'norm' for mobile connectivity, I guess we'll eventually see prices come tumbling down...
Personally I would gladly accept spam sms messages to pay for lower cost gprs or much high bandwidth than you currently get on the lowest Orange bundle tariff. 500Kb a month is pitiful.
We dont have markka(FIM) anymore, we use uros 😃
and my GPRS costs 17euro/month unlimited.
Have used it really much.

D'oh! No, of course you don't - I forgot! 😮ops:
Another thing that Britain is behind in.
I think I could live with that price, but I'm not sure anyone in Britain does unmeterred GPRS yet. Although I've suggested it to a friend of mine who works for Orange 😃
Hi, has anyone using Vodafone UK as their service provider managed to get this working? I am correctly using a GPRS internet connection (not a WAP one) but the phone always gives me a "Cannot connect to server message". If you've managed to get it working then I'd like to know how, or perhaps to know that I'm not alone! Thanks in advance...
Its not just fotodock ive been battling with the connection settings to connect to the extention im writing for my companies Image gallery software.
I finally managed to get my mail by using the CSD connection but i no matter what i try with the image server settings i cant connect to a server.
Im going to phone vodafone uk in the morning just to make sure they havent bared all connections to any other server other than thier own which isnt live yet.
Cool.
Finally, something that WORKS. Club Nokia is perpetually unavailable. The useless d*cks.
Anyway, here's my $0.02 for 'things to fix'
1. No delete function. Would be nice to be able to delete files I no longer need up there, and it's good to allow other users more space too 😊
2. Folders get recreated. I did 2 uploads of the same folder, and now I can get rid of one of them (see (1) above). If I'm uploading the folder, system 'should' check for existing files (check filenames?) and upload only the new ones. Good for your bandwidth, server space, and our GPRS connection fees 😊
3. Ability to move images from one folder to another.
4. You ight want to note somewhere, especially for new users, that unless they upload to 'public incoming' or create their own provate folder(s), anything they upload is going to be into the public archive. 😃

We are working on that function, will be included i next release!

We are not sure now, how to handle this. Do you want the system to put the images in the existing folder, if you try to upload a complete folder of the same name?

Ok, we will fix this.
The next version will have subfolders of unlimited depth, too.

And when you're ready, the FTP upload option would be really great too :>
Well ive battled with vodafone UK to get them to sort out my account and provide me with a Internet GPRS connection.
But i still cant get it to work one thing i couldnt even get my mail using the messanging section with the Vodafone GPRS but this is aledgedly because the network doesnt support this ? I thought it was supposed to be an GPRS internet connection.
So anyway ive given up on them for the minute i use my Demon standard modem dialup settings so i can get my mail i can also connect to the Nokia Photo Zone with this but still no joy with fotodock.
Ive tried the public and my own account but nothing wants to work. Anyone had any success connecting with Vodafone UK ?
Hi,
I have complete sympathy with anyone using UK Vodafone. Their tech support is a nightmare as they really haven't got a clue. I have been sent an email from them telling you how to set up an email acount, but it's pretty simple. The problem is most likely the GPRS connection not using an "internet" APN. I have the settings for the correct Vodafone one that I have used for both the internal email program (using POP3) and connecting via infrared to a pocket PC for web browsing and emailing. Therefore don't believe what they tell you. If you want the email telling you the settings (from Vodafone) or my version of the GPRS settings that do work then email me "vodafone"AT"triscott.co.uk". I still cannot get fotodock to work however 😞 but I hope I can help you.
I am having the same problems with my Vodafone NL account. I cannot upload to fotodock and as I know I am using the GPRS internet connections. Does anybody know how to get this fixed???
Thanx.
Anyone been able to upload images from Optus Australia? Have tried both the GPRS connection and Internet connections on my phone however still get the same ol' 'unable to connect to server' message despite all appearing good. Both connections work with their respective tasks as tested.
Lookin forward to sharing some images but alas no luck, anyone offer any advice love to hear it. :-?
BTW well done on a great sight!
Yeah i have the same problem too.
Says that "Cannot connect to server"
made sure that all the settings are correct.
Using Starhub Singapore
anyone have any ideas? :-?

Barry, don't use GPRS, setup a standard internet connection on your 7650, sure it's a bit slow (9600) but it's free!
