works, and works great. you have to flash to N80i, fw 4.0632.0.38, and just install the .sisx thats available from truphone. it works and ive already made a few calls with it. I bet truphone will never release it for the "N80". They'll just eventually announce support for N80 Internet Edition.
truphone on n80! IT WORKS!

do you have a truphone account? i had to email tech support to get one, texting didnt work, once you got an account, u can log in and download the E series sisx.
id send it to you, but you need a personalized settings file to go with it as well (not sure if its NEEDED but it added all the sip settings to the phone). the sisx alone isnt enough.
Hi Charlie,
what did you put in your email to tech support at truphonr ??

http://gizmoproject.com/ works just as fine too, just it costs 1cent/min to call real numbers, where truphone is free atm. and not sure if landlines can dial u yet with gizmo, didnt spend to much time with it. might have to pay more for "IN" service. still free with truphone ;]

well its good to know n80i wont be required for truphone, but sadly they STILL havent released it. who knows when they will. but truphone works RIGHT NOW with n80i ;]
gizmo doesn't work very well to be honest. i've tried to call my friend who is behind firewall(the same as me), and we couldn't hear each other.what's the point of configuring the firewall - port forwarding etc. if f.e. you will be abroad and won't be able to do it if you use free wlan
I have to say that Gizmo works fine for me, both with a firewall on or off, also tried it using an open network and again worked no problem.
You can dial into gizmo using the sip number from another internet phone or buy a number that landlines can use for $12.00 every 3 months.
Gizmo connects everytime for me, even with the PC client running.
I do intend to try out truphone though, just cause its free at the moment:icon14:
I have tried Gizmo briefly and it works very well on the N80ie in terms of integration with the phone OS. I guess they all will do that though. I have sent of an email to truphone asking for an account so who knows maybe they'll give me one and I can try out truphone too. Is it possible to have 2 different types of accounts on the N80 at the same time?

yes, i have both gizmo and truphone on my phone. you can even be connected to both at the same time.
Iv got truphone working on my n80IE at last, thanx to charlie for the info about emailing them!

I sent request to truphone, just waiting hopefully for a positive reply
after another sucessful update yo IE i'm on the truphone waiting list as well
I just read on the Truphone site that they found a bug in the app when they went for signing that is taking some time to sort out....so dont hold your breath to get it anytime soon, on the plus side they have extended the free calls offer untill March 07...hopefully we will have it before then
well i downloaded the truphone client and installed it, but whenever I run the setup wizard and try to choose my WLAN access point, it just doesn't do anything, like it crashes but I can still scroll through the AP list, just can't select one. Can't get any further. If I go back a step and try again, the program hangs and my phone is then fecked til I restart it, everything is slow and messed up.
Also, my phone is now permanently trying to connect to 'Orange MMS'!! Even if I manually disconnect it, it just reconnects again, what is going on?
Methinks I am going to stick with Gizmo til I can figure out whats going on, any ideas?
pinksteady wrote:well i downloaded the truphone client and installed it, but whenever I run the setup wizard it connects to Orange MMS access point (did not want it to do that) and then just seems to hang when choosing an access point. Do I choose my current routers access point or do I select 'Home AP'?Since this has happened in the last few minutes my phone is crashing and generally going crap, dunno what's going on, looks like I'll be sticking with gizmo, but will persevere. Any ideas?
update: ok restarted phone and it is now permanently connecting to Orange MMS, and reconnects immediately when I manually disconnect it. What's going on?!
did you change in the internet phone folder prefered call type to internet ?
I got an account but cannot manage to connect as the installation wizard hangs for a while on verifying set up and then closes sayng set up verification was cancelled b4 it could be completed.
i think they got something wrong, but how did somebody meke it working hten, any explanation to us as well?
BTW same problems with slowness and crash - mmmmmmm.......
I am having truobles also...my phone has gone real sloooow, maybe this is why it hasnt got the certificate yet ....
What i did was download the app directly to my n80IE frm my truphone acount, it instaled but i canceld wen it askd me to run the set up wizard, then i downloaded the settings directly to my fone, opend them and saved them, then i quit the web browser and all other apps, then i opend the truphone wizard and selected the HOME wifi option and config it to my wifi router, then i closed the wizard and went to nokias internet call app and it found truphones setup, then i selected conect, thats it
I uninstalled truphone and my phone was STILL connecting automatically and sending 934B of data to 'Orange MMS'. I found that even though it was uninstalled, there were all the truphone settings still appearing in the Internet Telephony and voip menus under Tools->Settings->Connections. I deleted all references to truphone and restarted the phone (which hung again, had to take battery out!), and now my phone is no longer attempting to connect to Orange MMS
Dunno whats going on with this app but I'm going to wait until it is not causing all these issues! The method that Biggzy posted above is quite full-on just to get this program working as it should!
I also had the mms prob, but i dnt send/recieve mms so i just deleted the mms access point, problem solved lol
hehe well that's one solution! Not for me though as a) I do send mms and b) I'm not going to sacrifice the ability to send mms just so I can try out truphone!
hi guys, i just managed to talk to my mum in italy and apart from some breaking everyting went fine. basically you have to go trough the sip setting and have a look of the connecdtions there, which are set by default to you operator and to connect "always on"
Also what i noticed after the upgrade of the phone to IE last nite, a few apps have completely disappeard from the manu, and other just werent there anymor despite the icon still present. i removed all the redundant ones and also removed all the double settings the truphone have created (my fault for not reading the manual...
to be noticed that the price of the phone call was detracted from my 5 free credit, even if it was supposed to be free landline.... cant understand that!!
LONG LIFE TO VOIP!!!
So for those of you who got it working, I have two questions:
1. How did you stop it from accessing 'Orange MMS' or similar?
2. How did you get past the wizard when it hangs/crashes while selecting access point?
Cheers
Ok I finally got Truephone to work and made a free call from Lithuania to the UK...the quality was crystal and didnt notice any lag at all ... well impressed 😊...
