Hmm it seems that truephone have decided to charge me for calls to France even though they are supposed to be free, but the calls to the UK were free.

04-Dec-2006 19:05 335539***** Charge 00:12:34 0.374

this is very strange

Cash,

Thanks for the warning m8!

Anyhow, I have a question that may or not have been asked before...

I notice WiFi is now permanently on when I am at home. How (does) this affect battery life on the N80?

at home now I always have the phone plugged in so that I can keep VOIP on, but when I go out I turn it off unless I need to make a call and then I find a wifi spot and turn it back on,

I am guessing that I wouldnt get much more than 2 - 3 hours out of it with wifi permanently on and making a few calls

pinksteady wrote:I uninstalled truphone and my phone was STILL connecting automatically and sending 934B of data to 'Orange MMS'. I found that even though it was uninstalled, there were all the truphone settings still appearing in the Internet Telephony and voip menus under Tools->Settings->Connections. I deleted all references to truphone and restarted the phone (which hung again, had to take battery out!), and now my phone is no longer attempting to connect to Orange MMS

Dunno whats going on with this app but I'm going to wait until it is not causing all these issues! The method that Biggzy posted above is quite full-on just to get this program working as it should!

i think it was in sip settings for the truphone profiles, change the cingular mms to ur wifi, and make sure u make it manual connect instead of auto. i think it was something like "register when needed"

yeah cheers I had gone through all the settings manually and made sure they were all kosha, and now it finally works! You don't really need the wizard app in the end.

Now I have got all these working, I am confused as to what the difference is between the different services! I have created another thread about this for you all to enlighten me!

And I have also just been charged for another call to the UK....

04-Dec-2006 21:04 4411895***** Charge 00:03:30 0.127

I am guessing because they are giving you 5 quid of credit they deduct this from your calls untill you get down to 0 and then you will have free calls...well I guess I cant complain as they gave the credit for me free..

i dunno, dont think they charged me for usa landline call.

I think I read somewhere that somebody has both truphone and Gizmo working at the same time....can you please tell me how you do that

Thanks

Just had a call from Truphone and he reason they charged me was because I didnt validate my gsm number...should be ok now

can i get someone to post the sip settings, under mine it says "gizmo voip, not registered". i had a look on gizmo's site and they got settings for a nokia e61, but they dont work for me. cheers

Can you connect to each of them individually? If so, when you connect to one, it should ask you if you want to connect to other as well, just make sure you've got them both set up correctly with the SIP profiles etc

nevermind, it was a firewall issue all along, just need to open port 5060 on your router. 🙄

I didnt try minr again, but I will later and see if its been fixed....

Did you just register, or validate your gsm number ?...the guy at truphone said the gsm number has to be validated

Cash,

What's the simplest way to turn TruVoice on and off?
Currently I am editing the AP setting from Always on to When Needed

How about having it set to 'When Needed' and putting a link to Internet Tel. on the active standby screen, then you can quickly go to it and connect/disconect?

didnt call a mobile yet so dont know

But If you get problems then you can log a support request from your truphone account, truphone actually got back to me with a phone call over truphone 😊 (which was nice) within 4 or 5 hours 😊...or use the truphone forum, they are pretty quick at replying there.

04-Dec-2006 17:40 3933841***** Charge 00:01:03 0.000 mob

05-Dec-2006 19:42 3933924***** Charge 00:01:04 0.000 mob

as you can see i havent been charged for the last 3 calls made to an italian mobile (the ones cut after 40 sec) but i've been charged for landline....

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

i think we have just to wait to run out of the free credit and check what happens afterwards, but im defenately going to stick to those guys

05-Dec-2006 21:09 4412128***** Bundle 00:00:59 0.000

It seems that my billing has been sorted out now 😊, but will keep an eye on it over the next few days I think 😊..

if you still have a problem then get in touch with truphone with a log support and I am sure they will sort it for you 😊..

I have free incoming calls for my cell phone plan... so is this even better for me or does it take away some of the greatness of truphone?
I'm not sure how it works.:con?

Truphone got back to me with a phone call as well, saying they had NO IDEA why I was charged for calling a UK landline but that they had made a few calls using my account and no new charges had appeared. I am also not convinced that making calls on my account without my permission was very professional....

Considering they don't know why I was being charged, and that they don't claim to have done anything to fix it, I am sceptical to their claim I will not be charged in the future. They also did not refund the charged call to my account.
