yeah, its a standard link... will work for each upgrade in Beta that they do too... so dont delete it.

😊

you can PM me if you need and I'll forward a link on to you.

😊

you need to go to: (VIA YOUR HANDSET!)

the last 4 digits digits of your link are different to mine though, does this mean there are some differences due to different info input in the registration form ?
i.e. mobile phone number

right, Ive asked Fring at he says that the texts are UNIQUE to each user so my link above is no use to anyone else...

so... if anyone needs it and cant get it apparently I or any other fring user can invite a user via our handsets and that will send an sms for them and add them to our friends list...

so I need to delete the link I added and can you do the same in your quote Cash please. 😊

Done 😊..

ok im somewhat confused. I have d/l and installed the app. Now i dont have a skype account or anything like that. Say i make a call through the program to another mobile or land line, is it still using my data connection to make the call (wi-fi so it would be free yes?) or am i being charged as per normal?

well you really need to get Skype, and read up on Skype so you understand the advantages and costs if any you will be charged, mostly you will be calling other Skype numbers over wifi, and this will be free. if youcall other land line numbers then you will need to buy skypeout crediti which you will be charged for.

goto skype.com and have a read 😊..

I'm 0-2 with trying to get skype to work on my N80.

I DL'ed fring and was able to log on to skype using Fring, all my contacts showed up but when I went to make a call it just hug there until i would have to hang up. The test call did however work, maybe i need to tinker with some of the settings.

I also wasn't able to get iSkoot to work for Skype either, they say that there're compatible with Skype and in the future with google talk and yahoo messenger.

i just dl'd fring and and used it in my N80 and i find it great
i tested it with my skype locally and international and
it works just fine.

best thing to do to test is to create a second Skype account on your pc, have it running and call yourself and see what happens.

I have made several calls now, from Lithuania to UK, and several chat conversations, and I have to say that apart from a couple times where the sound was distorted, I find this much easier and better quality than Truphone to use.

Of course at the moment with truphone we have free calls and can call other sip clients.

I still cant understand why Skype didnt yet develop something like Fring, especially with all the billions of dollars they have....the mind boggles....

Alright after speaking to support i finnaly got my sms. I tried it over fring to fring and skype works great.

I think the fring service is really quite good, and I know they are working on sip integration also..I think if they can do this then this app will be the must have communication app..

yeah, I agree... so long as you can hook up SIP then its gonna be a winner!

This is getting annoying, when i load it up it tries to login and uses my gprs which doesnt work half of the time. How would i change it to use my wifi.

Tried installing it again, this time (guessing new beta version) it got to the enter fring username/password, and then goes to the loading screen and just hangs...

best thing is bloody thing wont uninstall now... zzzz...
had a look on their forums, and saw a couple N80 users with same prob.

ah... the joys of beta testing...

any ideas on how to uninstall?

Think best option is I'm gonna wait for next beta version, and reinstall on top, "hopefully" should fix things...

Out of interest, how in the world do they manage to get such a mixed bunch of behaviors, on the same hw (N80) and firmware (N80ie v4.0632.038)... since some of you with the same setup have had no problem whatsoever... I'm puzzled lol...

ut.

btw installed it on phone mem, autostart on, basically just said yes to all it asked..

well, on here between the 1st set of users, we installed on MMC and DIDNT auto start.

So, if you go to your fring icon, and press C to delete it, then click your SMS again to download the 2.71 software, reinstall it as above... so basically saying NO! 😉

Most of the problems Ive seen on the forum have been with N80 users rather than N80IE users it seems.

I never used it on my phone and an N80, so cant really help.

Kontraband,

I am having are you having similar problems to me with fring closing sometimes, it seems to happen mostly after I have been using some wifi dependant app, i.e. web browser or live tv, and after I close that app, and look to see if fring is still working, fring is closed also.

Its anoying because there is no notification icon to say fring is open or not, so half the time when I think I am conected to fring, I am not and I dont know about it.

ive not had that prob no.

Im just trying a few other apps that use the web. Fring and sipgate spent most of the day on together yesterday without probs.

Ive just sent an image via email, then logged onto services and the nokia experience page, then exitted.

Held down menu and Fring is still there... so I guess NO, I havent had that problem

I think your comment about 'a fring notification' icon is a good one, and one that you should relay to the developers over there. Clearly it would have to be in the firmware that it was an avaialable icon 'like the sip icon' so it may be harder than just saying it tho! 😊

already mentioned to them, if you look in the suggestions page in the forum (maybe worth you adding a comment there also)....you will see a snapshot of my screen, along with the icon when truphone is connected, you will also see at the bottom another icon, this is ultimate voice recorder icon when in hidden mode, something like this for fring should be quite easy to implement I think.

I also have sip and fring working at the same time, but as I say sometimes fring closes itself and it only seems to be after using some other wifi dependant app

Ive just dropped a comment/motivational speech ( 😉 ) on the 'what other VoiP thread... and forgot to post the above...

so Im off back again!! HAHHA I got over excited with my last fring post! HAHAH

calm down .. dont want to give yourself a heart attack 😊..

Kontraband,

Just to let you know, as you bought it up on the fring forum, I have fring set to the multimedia key, if its pressed for 2 seconds, I find this more useful than the mp3 player and quicker to start fring than having it set to one of the icons in the standby screen 😊..

ahh, thats cool then. I have my multimedia key set to go into my images... hence why my fring is on my shortcuts.
