Fring VOIP review

I got it after i contacted fring support with ur number and im on Tmoblie

does anybody knows why when i try to do the first run of fring 2.74, and specifically on the config page where you place your number etc, it stops the program and saying "program corrupted, please reinstall from fring.com"??

i tried to uninstall, download again, and reinstall, but still the same.
Have any ideas? I'm running the n80 IE.

Yep, it just showed up, I heard on another forum that this was possible so just checked and there it was, the option to add MSN contacts 😊..

I heard this happen on a few N80/N80ie's, but not yet heard of a reason why, or a solution

its a bit of an odd one this. MSN should auto appear in 2.74. It will appear as the MSN icon next to google talk if its active. Mine didnt appear at first either.... but I turned the phone off, and left it (peace and quiet at last) and then turned in back on later in the day and there it was...

so maybe a restart is in order. 😊

EDIT>> Also, RE MSN saying about charging... mine isnt, unless you mean the bit when you log in and it goes 'You MAY be charged for ..... '

If you mean that its the charges for wap gprs... not wifi./

Yeah it did show up after a while so all good now. With regard to the MSN messenger thing, it's the same as when the app first appeared a few months ago. All's good for a while and then a couple of days ago I tried to log in and I get the message" To continue using Live Messenger, you need subscribe mobile MSN service (10 RMB per month) then it goes on to say it's gonna send a sms to register, just like before. Like you said in your post in the other thread, it says nothing about it being a beta version.

I'm having the same trouble. The support guys haven't solved that issue yet. If they do I'll tell you about it.

I had my first problem with Fring last night... and the screen just kept hanging on the loading page.

The net clover would appear, but the phone would basically just do nothing it should do.

Turned out that my router had had a DOS attack earlier and hadnt picked up correctly again. So a reset from there sorted everything out.

It seems that if fring cant get the normal connection it gets ( as a good connection) it kinda mucks about for a bit without telling you anything and then falls over :icon13:

Well, after numerous tries installing and reintalling the app, this is the reply I've got from them:

Unfortunately, there is no other way to get the application since we use the SMS in order to verify your international number.
If you know any current fring users located in your country, ask them to send you an invitation from their fring.

I forwarded my fring invite to a user I didnt know but was asked on the forum to send to.

He was in South Africa and he installed his fine from the SMS.

The only problems I have had with Fring have been if my WLAN signal has been faulty.

entered my msn name and password then the fun began the fring icon (yellow) would turn blue every 5secs phone will flash and i scroll down and get 3-4 names down it flashes and i start at the top again, half my contacts are missing you cant see who's online and not and i guess no1 on msn can get through to me cause i no certian people are there and i have msged the with no reply 😡 you cant just dial any number you want and call itunless its in ya phone book already !really poor

yeah, I see... looks fuct. Is the whole screen flickering??

yup naff anit, everytime it flickers ike that it jumps to the top of the screen so you cant scroll the list

am i right thinking i cant phone a normal house phone through it? it says GSM only 😡

fring havent responded to my email/support request as of yet, hope they do soon **fingers crossed**

not the best support i still dont no when i can get it 😡 :icon13:

haaha yeah, thats a bit of a 'yeah ok... we know about it, but have no idea how to fix it yet' reply innit.

I have Skype Unlimited here in Canada which means I can make unlimited calls to any phone, within the US and Canada.

The problem I am having is that I can only make calls to my Skype contacts, I can't get skypeout to work?? I do have Skype credits on my skype account but everytime I try to make a call using skypeout it says call failed.

Is there some special settings that I need on my N80??

good question... I dont know if SkypeOut is part of Fring or not tho.

I just downloaded yesterday, and test it on my cell phone, it worked fine, no problems at all. Connected with msn, gtal, skype, did the test call and chatted with a friend that was on online in msn. The only thing I couldnt test yet(probably the most important one), was to call someone... gonna try that these days and let you know.

you need to let someone have your cell# so they can send their invite... which comes to you via SMS>

My fring is freezing like before, it gets stuck on the "login, please wait screen". I know i have my wifi working cuz my gizmo works.

the only time I had fring freezing, rebooting my router solved it.

I tried this new version, and still no luck on working on my phone. It tries to load, since I'm able to see the splash screen, but then nothing happens, the splash screen disappears and the app doesn't load. 😞
