I am not clear how to connect p800 with pc?
dial up, lan access or serial port connection?
How do you do this? from PC or from p800 to initiate the connection?

You cannot initiate a BT serial port connection from the P800, you have to start the connection from your PC. And when you have a stable BT serial port connection between your PC and P800, simply open the P800 Opera browser, and off you go surfing through your PC's ADSL(or whatever)connection. Simple as that. 😊
Maybe this is old tip, i haven't seen it here before. When you are surffing with p800 via mrouter lika via bluetooth then your local computer is found from address wsockhost.mrouter. In example if you have webserver at port 80 running in your mrouter host computer it can be found at address http://wsockhost.mrouter/
How to connect to your internet DSL connection through Bluetooth on your P800:
1) Download this Java browser and install it on your P800 http://www.reqwireless.com/webviewer.html
2) Set up your bluetooth connection on your PC and P800. Make sure that the bluetooth icon on your P800 shows that you're connected.
3) Open the reqwireless WebViewer while you're connected to bluetooth and VOILA, off you go surfing the web for free. Normally when you use the WebViewer you should see a GPRS icon at the bottom of your phone, but now you don't, which means you're surfing the web through bluetooth and your PC's internet connection!
Try this little trick out folks, and let me know if it works for you too!
4) To make it work with the built-in browser you need to delete your INTERNET ACCOUNT SETTINGS.
Cheers

.... goes for Opera, too!
Yep...That's a really old post, before Opera was available. Read the entire thread before making comments, please.
How do you do this on a mac with macosx
Its possible by using "Sony Ericsson Clicker" from Jonas Salling.
Establish your connection and it works :fadein:
Since the port connection has to be done manually, is it possible to leave your break your bluetooth connection and then have it re-establish itself upon your return? You can setup the software to sync automatically once it connects so this would be cool.
My problem is that my bluetooth serial port connection continues to assign itself com port 0. I am then given the message that my p800 refused the connection. Miraculously, the sync then begins. It seems like a bug to me, since it's actually connected to com port 10 according to the com port list in the sony sony software. Has anyone figured out away to make this work properly?
Thanks!
Which is better webviewer or opera
Opera of course
Without a single doubt!
OK which is best was probrably the wrong question, let me put it this way does webviewer have any advantages over opera apart from its smaller filesize.
To answer your question: No, I can't think of anything.
It does have an advantage, yes. Webviewer uses a proxy server at Requireless, which filters out a lot of the webpage that you wouldnt be able to see on your device. It re-sizes any images, before they are sent to your phone. Opera does the filtering / re-sizing once it has downloaded the page. If you want a lower GPRS byte count / quicker download time use Webviewer.
Andy.

This isn't a software feature in particular.
In theory you can setup a smart proxy that does this for the Opera browser or any other browser too.

Yes it is.

And where exactly do you put the proxy server address in Opera, so that your smart proxy server is used?
The guy asked if there are any advantages in using Webviewer over Opera, of which this obviously is one if he is having to pay for his online data throughput / time.
1) How do you get the mail programme to use the BT connection?
2) Can you get programmes like WorldMate to use the BT?
1) You need to set up a new "dummy" internet account, don't fill in any settings, just change the IP address to something like 123.000.000.000. Then go to messaging accounts and set your e-mail account to connect using this dummy internet account. 2) Yes, it works without having to change any settings, just like Opera and WebViewer etc.

No it doesn't. Clicker doesn't even work with the P800, only the T68
Hey guys,
Do you have to have the PC Suite installed on your computer to be able to share the internet connection via bluetooth through it? Only I'm running Win'98 on a relatively old machine, and when I tried the latest '98-compatable version it turned my PC into electronic treacle 😞
I've read about "mrouter" a few times, and am assuming it's a part of the PC Suite (& possibly the part which lets you net share); is there any way to load it seperately or an alternative that I could use, preferably which doesn't eat up all my system resources?
Thanks for your help 😃
Reqwireless browser version 3.0 is a pretty substantial upgrade from 2.0 with caching and history support (and is much, much faster than Opera). WebViewer handles web sites much better and faster than Opera IMO, which is much more important for a mobile experience. Apparently 3.0 is due for release very, very shortly (I have a pre-release version).
Hello Guys i am from the netherlands ... i have the p800 for a wile
but i read something about going on the internet trough the pc connection ( for free then ) because i have LAN i think so what do i need to do to get free internet on the P800 :-?
You need to make a bluetooth serial port connection between your PC and the P800. When you open up a browser such as Opera it will automatically use the bluetooth connection to connect to the internet.
For quite a while now, I have been reading posts where people are asking help on what they can do to fix their P800 after tweaking something or installing some softwares. They say that they have done almost everything even uninstalling the newly installed program.
It has been posted so many time also to make a backup regulary. But I guess, it should be emphasized... do a BACKUP REGULARLY!
Aside from your regular backup (i.e. daily or weekly), do a backup before and after software change.
Without a backup there's nothing to restore from.... duh! 8)

As far as the Browser options which has the overall package? I'm running Opera now, but I've run into some glitches with the Hotmail and Yahoo sites... It crashed on me a few times, but at the time I was running an older firmware.. I just got updated to R2D I wonder if the firmware addressed the issue or the browser designers have to do the work.
1.Opera 6.0
2.Webviewer
3.Reqwireless
after sometimes, my MSI 1.2.2.15 pops up a box requiring me to enter a license key.
now i cant use my bt anymore.
had anyone encountered the same prob?
Back to to the same old connection via bluetooth gateway thing.
I am trying to connect via bluetooth through a pc on a lan with a dedicated connection through a firewall and router. What settings should be used in the dial-up settings on the P800 to make this work with Opera.
Whenever I try connect. It comes up with an "Information Unknown error box"
any ideas anybody
Thanks
You must set the P800 to connect through GPRS. No settings is needed when using Opera. Just remember to connect your P800 to your PC using the PC-Suite, as mRouter in PC-Suite acts as a gateway to your PC's internet connection.
Can anyone tell me how to get the phone to ring through the normal speakers when in Handsfree mode?
I use the supplied earphones when driving but don't want to keep the ear bud in all the time, I'd prefer to just put it in when I get a call but miss calls because I can't hear a ring. It only rings through the earbuds when in handsfree!
Cheers

Another nice trick: to get access to the service menu, use the following combination: turn jog dial up ,*,down, down,*,down,*
How the H$!! did you figure that out, amazing...
All Ericsson phones had the same code to access the service menu:
> * < < * < * (Where < & > are the arrow keys)
Just translate them into the jog dial rotational directions! 😊
its not working for me 😞
