Orange Unlimited Internet

Hi Guys,

Just thought I would let those on Orange who are interested know that I have managed to get the Unlimited Internet browsing bundle with Orange for 8 month which launched today and reported in the last month in the press.

I originally phoned up about it but they were trying to fob me off with a 30mb month limit, but I called up again and after a few minitues on hold, they managed to track down the package on the system

I was also told that unlimited really does mean unlimited as there will be no 1gb month useage cap as has been the case on the unlimited evening/weekend and trial packages. Having said that, she did mention it being for browsing tho which suggest were technically not allowed to download videos or use VOIP, altho this was not explicitly stated.

Cheers,

Matt

Really?? How did you do this? I am mad about the 30Mb cap being announced on their website. I only just joined Orange and this was one of the main reasons...

Is there anything on their website about this, because I cant find it.

Is it business customer only?

Is it just WAP browsing, or if I use my phone as a bluetooth modem for my laptop, is this included in the 8?

I'm on free evening & weekend bundle at the moment, but have been told its only WAP browsing thats allowed, which is not much use to me.

Thanks:icon14:

I'm on the free evening & weekend bundle at the moment too, and was intending on start paying 5 a month to carry on using it after the 2 months. I do use it occasionally as a bluetooth modem though - seems to work fine, and no one has complained yet...

This is what I've come up with so far and it sounds good, I'm on 02 and its a pity they dont do anything similar.

"Orange has introduced flat-rate mobile data bundles for the first time.

The operator's contract customers will be able to sign up for a bundle allowing them unlimited surfing for £8 per month. A bundle for evening and weekend browsing is priced at £5 per month. Alternatively, customers can opt for a daily cap of £1 per day.

The bundles make Orange the latest operator to adopt a flat-rate approach to its mobile-data pricing. Vodafone, T-Mobile and 3 already offer flat-rate pricing."

You may have been speaking to a junior customer advisor who isn’t aware of the new tariffs!?

I don’t know, I'm on 02 who are ripping me off with their data charges £1 for 1MB. 😡

I didnt speak to anyone, i looked on my online account and in the add/upgrade bundles section they only had 30mb for 8, eve & wkends for 5 etc. etc.

I work for a mobile phone dealer, and in the Orange price book it states also the £8 bundle offers 30MB of data. I was told this when I added it to my account also.

I spoke to a clueless CS person today who didn't even seem to know there were new data bundles at all. He went away and asked people but all they could offer was the 30Mb option which really annoys me as one of the reasons I moved to Orange last month was the press release mentioning 8 unlimited data at the start of last month.

What really gets my goat though is that it continues to be a lottery because it seems the odd person IS able to get an unlimited package.

Can anyone who HAS got it recently list what tariff they are on (maybe only offered to Panther tariffs?) and also if possible call up and ask them exactly what bundle youve been given, ie its name / ref number so others can do the same?

Chris

Just looked at the tariffs on orange.co.uk for new pay monthly customers and there is no longer an option to purchase data bundles. The texts, insurance etc. is still there, but the data ones seems to have gone. Are they about to change them again

Its 5 a MB with Virgin........hence why i moved to T-Mobile

Confirmed here too from PC PRO...

"Orange has placed an incredibly stingy 30MB download cap on its so-called Monthly Anytime Browsing package.
The mobile phone operator was widely congratulated when it announced the new unmetered tariffs last month, which allowed customers to surf 'without worrying about the cost' for up to 8 per month.

However, Orange has now confessed the cap on downloads is limited to just 30MB - which is hardly the data Shangri-La customers may have been expecting."

Orange's "unlimited" data plan is capped at 30MB a month.

Cool, I emailed The Register on Friday (maybe not alone) telling them about it, and seeing as Orange had received some nice promotion on their site last month when the press release came out, they should equally get some bad press now they've failed to follow through with the promises. Glad they felt it worthwhile to post it on the website. :icon14:

I just signed up for Orange today for an N95 thinking it would be 8 for a 1Gb cap.

In the blurb for the contract it said theres a maximum charge of 1.50 per day for internet usage - will this still stand? I'm a burst user so I don't need it every day but when I do use it I tend to go mad.

Also, anyone know how quickly you get to the 1.50, or how much data that would be.

Just to throw a spanner in the works, so to speak......

I cant post links as I'm still a noobie but if you put the www bit on the front of this...... orange.co.uk/service_plans/paymonthly/orange_world_terms.html then read point 10..... Hmm, interesting......🙄

That is from the old data model where unlimited is 85 a month or so.

I left Vodafone due to their astronomic data charges and went to T-mobile but even voda tried to con me into staying by telling me they could give me "unlimited" data, when I said no limit at all ever? er well actualy its 120 meg a month but no one ever uses it all. Given thet the deal had only been launched that day I asked out how the hell would they know! I got no answer..
The meaning of the word "Unlimited" it seems has more meanings than the dictionary definition especialy if your an ad man they should all be ***t

try to take your phone back, I think you may have a 14 day cooling off period

The cheapest deal on data is T-mobile web and walk 7.50 per month for up to 1 Gig of data (excludes downloads and voip usage) you would relly have to go some to use that up I am an avid data user but even I find it hard to use nore than about 400 meg a month you would have to download 1000 1 meg pictures to use up your limit with T-Mobile and even then they will let you go over but will warn you not to do it too often.

I went to CPW and got a generic N95 (unlocked and unbranded) with my contract the phone is not briliant but the deal was

Trouble is that unless I want to spend 209 on the fone then Im on 35 contract _ 7.50 data = 42.50 a month which is a bit much. I defo don't want an 18 month contract...
