New R6D23 firmware is OUT

Hi, please can some one help. i bought a p990i recently, and have various versions of tom tom, latest:-

TomTom NAVIGATOR v6.000 (7370)
GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE v650.1046
PocketGPSWorld.com Speed Camera Database Version 4.092 15 Sep 2006.

But after following instructions in the txt file and clicking the installation file:-tomtom_today.cab file sizee 208kb. I get message "unrecognized format" no viewer can be found on your phone to open this file.

Can some 1 help? what do i need for my p990i to read tomtom files ?

The *.cab file is not a installation file. You have to extract the files (using for instance WinZip) from within and then install....

If you already have done this my guess is that you have the install/sw files for wrong operating system (must be the TT version for Symbian UIQ2).

How do you install the new firmware? I just tried Sony Ericsson Update Service, but it installed R9F011 instead of the latest one. How do I get the R6D23 firmware?

R9F is your phone version. the thing you need to look at is the CDA version, that's what R6D23 is.

Check your firmware on the phone again and scroll all the way down. the last number should say R6D023

Here's what the whole thing says...

Phone: R9F011

Bluetooth: R5A01

Organizer: R5A17

CDA: R6A01

Check your CDA version in your phone's System Infogmation (mine is CDA 162007/1 Commonly know as World 1):
The CDA is the equivalent of DVD regions. Depending on what country you bought your phone in, it will have a different number.

Currently there are only a few CDA versions that will pick up the latest Organiser Version when you use SEUS.

If you have a version that will not pick up the latest version there are a few ways to change your CDA version. Check Google and you will find them very quickly.

hi, my phone is in india and i'm trying to find out on how to upgrade teh firmware. tried thru the sony pcsuite and it does not have india listed.
pls let me know if there are any links from where i can download and update it.

Hie, my p990i hv chinese support...if i upgrade mine to the latest firmware, will i lose the chinese functions? wuts da pros and cons of the latest firmware?

prev, i hv a n80 with chinese, than after upgrade, no more chinese support...so will p990i hv the same issue?
