you just have to wait for a little while. There have been some issues with vista. Nokia guys are workin on it.

v 4.0707.0.7 to V 5.0719.0.2
but while updating my broadband connection got disconnected so i left the set as it was (it was working fine at that time) after few hours i tried to update again but now the set is DEAD
any idea what to do?

looks like battery/standby time have increase a lot...

Quick summary from me after finally "upgrading" to the v5 release.
Battery life sucks big time. Barely will last a day on standby now.
Fonts are too big on main screen.
It's no quicker.
Sometimes get a white screen when locking the phone.
Warning, confirmation and error tones are far too loud.
Vibrate doesn't work sometimes.
Appears to decide to continually attempt a WiFi connection if you use some Internet apps (including VoIP), even if you turn every "always connect" kind of option off. So much so that once it happens, with nothing running, it connects and despite disconnecting it it will connect again, and again, etc. Until you restart the phone.
v4 was much better, even if it did hang the phone when attempting a VoIP connection.
Makes me wonder why this firmware hasn't been released worldwide. My phone's official product code is standard UK code (plain Nokia supplied sim free effectively) and that's officially still on v4.
Edit: Thinking about it, I suspect the firmware is intended for specific versions of the N80 which may have slightly different hardware. Hence why the severe battery drain on some models.
Mine's getting worse. Was charged last night, left overnight on standby and it was dead by the morning!
Terrible.
Ended up doing a full reset to factory settings and reinstalled everything. Battery life much better now.
One issue though. The 0529378 product code appears to result in a language pack which doesn't display period (full stop) characters properly in many apps (You may or may not be aware that along with the software you get language packs and these differ depending on product code).
Just comes up as a square. A font issue basically. It's fine in some of the basic OS features (e.g. text messages), but not in some apps (e.g. the calculator).
Anyone got a solution to that?
ok i only made 5 calls but in 4 days my battery only knocked 2 bars off.
This is with Wi-fi search ON. (not connected but just on)

Fixed the square box (instead of full stop) font issue. I downloaded the Turquoise theme from the S60.com site (I think it's an official Nokia theme). That appears to be fine, so I guess it's got the right fonts.
Makes the phone look much newer too 😊
Keep me happy until I can get my hands on an N97 😃

I tried to use NAVIFIRM (where all Nokia's phone are listed) but the fw files seems corrupted or not available on the server.

Go to Nokia's web site and look for Nokia Software Updater which you download and install on your PC. That allows you to update the phone software. You can also do this by installing PC Suite or Ovi Suite which allow you to update your phone.
The firmware you get with that depends on the product code of the phone however.
