Also worth noting in praise of the new firmware that the longstanding 'sharpness' bug has been fixed, making the camera much more useable in its various modes without having to work hard resetting 'sharpness' to 'normal' every time....

I had the updated maps software on v11 and i purchased a 3-year Western Europe license and now i get GPS-lock in about 30secs so it's a nice improvement but I liked the UI on the new maps better so I'd like to know if i get the A-GPS benefits with that version too?
I went ahead and installed the updated version of the maps aplication and I'm glad to report everything works perfectly. My navigation license is still there and i get a lock in 15-30 secs thanks to the new AGPS feature. Excellent firmwareupdate! Oh and gallery is faster too and the camera bug is gone now. Great stuff.
hi, i have the uk phone with product code: 0547686
no update yet 😞
I have a UK unbranded N95, I want the new firmware so bad I am willing to change my product code to get it. Which product code can i use for UK use, I have searched and searched and found loads of product codes people 'say' work and get v12 but none of them have shown up as v12 when entered on the nokia site to check version availability. Can someone enlighten me please.
I know that it is possible to browse the net in widescreen mode by opening the slide into multimedia, but I don't recall there being a rotate screen option actually in the browser itself. Now that option is there. Which means I can browse widescreen with the keypad open. Can anyone confirm who has the v11 s/w if the rotate screen option is in the web browser options? Maybe I'm just being forgetful.

yep that option was there before and i use it quite alot
The Bluetooth implementation is still completely useless with car kits though...
Why Nokia can't sort this I don't know, as the N73 is PERFECT with car kits!
You can now zoom images in the gallery up to 800%, previously you could only zoom to 50%
Regrading the missing theme 'default' it does actually still reside in the rom but you can't access it.
and there is a NEW BUG....with V12 firmware occasionally the N95 does not register a key press, for example you click on a apps icon and nothing happens, press it again and it works normally. I thought it was just me at first not pressing the key hard enough, however reading around on the net loads of others have noticed it too.
Can any one who couldn't switch to the silent mode by pressing # button with the previous firmwares report whether he can now switch with the new firmware? Unbranded/unlocked Nokia users are preferable. Tnx!

it will depend on whether you are using the Euro 1 etc product code or the UK Sim Free product code, the UK sim free phones can not switch to the silent mode by pressing # button, the Euro 1 etc ones can.
Currently the v12 firmware is not available for UK Sim Free handsets as it has to be approved by Nokia UK first.
The text-to-speech stopped working after updating to v12, when someone calls me, my phone restarts.
V12 and AGPS are great. I'm not sure why i'd need sat nav indoors but it works.
I changed my product code to EURO 1 and I got the v12 update. I havent tried the gps yet.
How do you know if you have a "lock on" with the gps?
Im like 7 feet away from my door and i cant get a lock on?
Ive never got a lock on before with my N95? WHen i click on gps position, it points to somewhere in UK, its the default location.
Also, before upgrading, when i open the maps app, it automatically points me to the last location i was when i opened the maps app. Like if i opened the maps app yesterday and i was on 1st street , today when i open the maps app and im on 3rd street, my gps position would be the exact same spot i was on 1st street. Is this weird or what?
Can anyone please tell me how exactly the gps works, because my satellite indicator on the lower right side of the screen still has an X on even after like 5 minutes.
One MAJOR bug in v12 is that the Maps version in the package reboots the phone when you try and 'Search by Category'....

Except for the A-GPS and a hair of extra RAM...has anything good come from this update?? I've heard nothing but complaints
Ok it is late on the 19th and I am in the UK, why can I not upgrade the firmware on my beloved N95?
I will have to try again tomorrow 😞
Does anyone know how to get the Default theme back? I immensely dislike all these Nokia N-series themes! Argh! 😡
I wish they fix the slide show in the next firmware upgrade.
On ver.11 - you run the slideshow, and everything is smooth, and the pictures are sharp. (even when pan & zoom mode).
On ver.12 - Nokia effectively killed it! The Pan and Zoom feature became lousy. The photos are now BLURRED, and the panning movement is JERKY (stops for a few milliseconds). It's terribly annoying.
I keep wondering why Nokia destroyed such a nice feature with this new upgrade?? Im thinking that they switched the processing power somewhere so that the thumbnails load faster - but this is just ridiculous now. The Pan & Zoom slideshow was very handy when making presentations to other people now it's become useless and annoying.
If there was a way to return the phone back to ver.11, I would do it in a heartbeat!
I recently went through the unbranding/product code change on my n95 to enable me to uprgrade to v12 fw. Can anybody tell me (other than aGPS) what the major new improvements are? All I know so far is increased memory (ish), increased speed when in Gallery, slightly more battery life and that's about it. Anything I'm missing?
1) Phone is so much faster on gallery, loading websites, switching between apps
2) The MAPS application is bloody excellent now. Before, I had to wait 6 minutes to get a satellite fix....now it takes about 45 seconds. INDOORS. I'm very, very impressed.
3) Cool new little 3.5g logo in the top left. The web browser seems really fast too now when in that mode (HSDPA).
4) No-one appears to have noticed this one yet but I did...THE N95 NOW LOADS FULL FLASH MOVIES IN THE WEB BROWSER!!!! Try it out. Its just a shame that they didnt stick a bit more RAM in the phone as it struggles on big video flash files, but for simple fading images and animations. This is the first time I've seen full Flash movies on a small form factor phone. Bring on the N96 so we can run full video files through flash...256 Mb RAM should do the trick. 😃
5) You can save web pages now! Which is nice.
6) Camera is much better
7) Cool blue flashy LED light when in screensaver mode
I like. Finally an S60v3 update that feels like a responsive, useable phone. KUDOS Nokia.
The problem after the firmware update.......
1.) On the screen light time-out, the review buttons light switches on momentarily (I don't know whether this is on purpose or an error)
[I have set the light time-out to 10 seconds]
2.) On call conference, be it outgoing or incoming, the call timer shows 00:00:01 no matter how much time you talk for.
2a.) Once on call conference, when both the calls are disconnected at once(at the same time), the call duration shows 00:00:00
3.) Service message that includes URL's in it, when clicked used to open the webpage link in the browser properly, now it tries opening and exits the browser while loading(loads 1kb sometimes but not more)

Having happily downloaded and presided over a trouble free V12 upgrade, I was fiddling, as you do, and in the process went into my themes area. I accidentally changed my theme, which resulted in the most horrendous crash. The phone would not respond, or only erratically, only the top half of the scree was visible and I couldn't even turn off. In the end, all I could do was a full reset and restore - luckily I had a recent back up. BEWARE!
Ok, I'm a great BBC Radio 1 fan and I went yesterday after the firmware upgrade so, when you log on bbc radio 1 website and you clic on listen live with realplayer it opens a new small window with embed realplayer transmission so the browser crashes and it close itself, with the previus firmware I was abled to listen without problem.
I can see that flash animatios works but you must clic on those in order to use it and I don't like this but well I can see flash now.
When you slide in order to see multimedia buttons the <^> multimedia menu don't show life before so now you must open it with the arrows button.
I'll continue looking for more issues.

While web surfing with Wireless LAN, every page requests me the connection name, so I must select my Wireless every time it prompts, the same, inside BBC Radio 1
