I checked the IAP I use for messenger and there where no proxy settings.
It worked before on my msn(dot)com address (with the same iap settings) and then stopped, which makes me think it is a server side problem.
Superswede, is your hotmail account a payed account? (i.e. plus or premium). Also has it been upgraded (you can tell by capacity 5gb for free, 10gb for payed).
I'm not using a hotmail account. I use my registered ".NET Passport" (e.g. my business e-mail address like "<myname>@<mycompany>.com"😉.
In short it's a Windows Live registered ID but without any hotmail service attached (hence I can use med own "official e-mail address).
This is getting more & more confusing i guess ill just give up on msn messenger then. lol:tongue:
anyone know roughly how much data is used when using msn via GPRS/WAP, cause o2 only give 100kb free per month. eek!
also, with tha a-gprs (which ill be sorting out soon as im stil on v11! 😞 ), how much data wil that be using? as i understand that this uses the gprs too?
cheers
Edit.

A-GPS uses 5-6kb per session.
so it aint really worth me doing that then tbh! cheers. u know the answer to any of my other qustions?
same problem for me when i use my msn account, then started a hotmail account and then it worked:con?
Whats the story of that :con?
Can't loggin with my msn, but whit hotmail it works.
Has anyone gotten this app to work with non hotmail accounts? It's doing my head in!:con?
Even weirder is that it works fine when I select it to use my Wi-Fi connection, but as soon as I use my Vodafone Live! 3G connection it refuses to work resulting in random errors that say the service is unavailable or down, or continues to load endlessly.... 😡
I just want a simple, nice MSN client on my phone but have found no 3rd party app that does as nice a job as this one,...
Sounds like Vodafone has blocked ports and/or destination address (msn server). Probably because they're preparing it to be a payable service (like in some other countries...).
That would make a lot of sense actually... Bit of a pain seeing as I got the 120MB a month package and a 12 month contract 😞
Any way of getting around it besides using web based messengers? Proxies maybe? I tried adding an alternate proxy to the packet data access point on my n95. But nothing would load at all...
Any updates on getting this to work with non hotmail accounts? Or anywhere i can download the latest version as i cant find it in my phones download folder?
just reading this thread has fixed a few of my msn problems, i just have one more.
I am using a nokia n95 8gb and when talking in msn, randomly all the conversations scroll to the top every time i get a message and i have to scroll to the bottom to read, and usualy halfway thru scrolling, theyl write again, sending me bk to the top.
Is there any fix for this?
