V1.2 was screwed up by me trying to support the 5500 there was a common API for both but it supplied less data to the N95 for velocity so v1.3 goes back to the old N95_Acceleromter and should be the same sensitivity as 1.1.

Light Sabre V1.3
================
N95 series only,
please ensure you have the N95 Acceleromter sis file installed

New Features:
o Opening and closing Slider turns sabre on and off
o Press any number key for sabre hit
o More fx samples for swings
o More Vrumms less Tishes
o Press left for medium vol right for Max vol
o Press up for dark side , down for light side
o Back on the old N95 acceleromter API so more sensitive again. (sorry no 5500)

Forum won't let me post URLs 😮 if some body heads over to Tommi's S60 app blog the URL is there....

Nice one Graham... as you see its loved here..
BTW, you can link in the forum after 10 posts. :icon14:

I'd link it myself but cant see it on Tommis blog as the last app post was November 13th.. so just use this one instead to get the 1.3 version all 😃

VERSION 1.3 LIGHT SABRE

USE THE FORCE!

I'll stay with 1.1 it's got the best movement reaction and I don't like to press buttons in order to hear te hit.

btw .. ligth side??
suggest .. dark side .. hit some button (darth vader breathing sound)
ligth (hehe) side ... hit some button (obiwan .. "use the force "..)

keep up the good work 😊

GrahO23 wrote:Hi Rottie, 1.3 has the same reactions as 1.1 and still does the hit on swing.

Amazing work Graham!! Well done and thank you!

I installed 1.3 again to check and I still think the same.

I don't know how to explain it, but in 1.3 the sounds are not played the same way, sometimes in one swing te phone detects two movements and the sound is cut short and another starts. The 1.1 is much more "realistic" if you can call it this way 😉
Also the hit sound - in 1.1 it's every few swings, in 1.3 is once in maybe 20? I know you can press the buttons, but the most impressive thing, that is the best for showing off, is the fact that you're NOT pressing any buttons to operate it! And that ruins it a bit. IMHO

Maybe it's just my phone...

Sorry to say this but on the main menu there is a typo.

"Press down for LIGTH side"

Fantastic app, my work is full of light sabre sounds now!

Only just picking up on this thread, and dying to go home and try this out ( still at work so its a bit inappropraite to try it ion an office full of people )

Noticed that Graham said to ensure the acceleromater sis file is installed? Does this come pre-installed on the phone or is it needed from another source?

What version is best so far then - original, 1.1 , 1.2 or 1.3?

Ok - so what am I doing wrong? Downloaded ver1.3, copied the sis file to my phone, then ran the installaiton. It all installed without a problem.

The icon is there in the application folder, but when I click on it, or select and open - nothing happens!

don't you have to install it to the phone memory rather then card? I did the same, and think i had the same problem.

otherwise, i have no idea, sorry!

Strange one this ....

ver 1.2 is the only one that works on my phone.

1.3 and 1.1 both do the same thing - nothing at all! Got it going in the end - though it might be louder though?

Im seeing the same problem, a new motion is detected and a sound interuppts, it would be better if this didnt happen! is this on all N95s or just mine and rotties?

Anyway, great app and thanks for coming to the forums!!

I did lower the sensitivity very slightly on 1.3, so it could be that... or maybe the sensitvitiy of the accelertometers is different on some phones?

I was going to add a control so you can adjust the sensitivity and volume. I'll see if I get round to doing it 😊

GrahO23 wrote:I did lower the sensitivity very slightly on 1.3,

The decreased sensitivity is certainly noticeable on my phone as well. I virtually have to thump it to get it to notice. Also managed to confuse the "slide detect" as at one point I was having to open up the phone to switch off the light sabre and close it to switch it on.

It seems that of you have auto keylock or keylock on slide close turned on, it confuses the slide activation.

Your keypad needs to be unlocked before sliding the phone open or it will not activate.

Maybe the program could disable the keylock while running?

I'm struggling to think of any new features to add :frown: to justify getting my lazy self to do some more coding.

Stuff I can think to do:

o Real volume control
o Real sensitivity control (both require messing around with UI and is a pain)
o More intelligent swinging fx, ie sudden stop produces hit , hum change on small movements.

Does anyone know of a good repository of sabre sound effects on the web?

Cheers

Points 1, 2 and 3 are all pretty valid ones in my book. Well, 2 and 3 certainly. 😉 But I can understand your apathy to fine-tune.

These are pretty much the last things I think need 'fixing' really. If you know how then disabling the keylock while the app is running would be good to allow opening and closing.

Here are some points for improvement:-

1. Disable keylock when using the application
2. Implement the better wav's
3. When I move in one direction the sound starts but is interrupted if I move back before the 1st sound has finished - could this be improveD?
4. More sensitive as not all swings create a sound
5. Tisssh noise on sudden stop..

Thanks
Mark

roll on 1.4....
