The N95 classic hits v20 firmware!!

232 replies · 92,984 views · Started 26 November 2007

i have a T-mobile contract N95 and because of this the update wasnt found!
so doing some fiddling is required and this may mean making things void. but luckily my insurance is with my bank!

Hi,

since upgrading to the new firmware I have noticed that my N95 is much more unrealiable with Bluetooth carkit connections (well its a Sony Ericsson HCB30). It used to work fine, but now I get perhaps a 30% success rate. Either it does nto find the carkit, or it gets staticy and breaks up during a call.

Anyone else have this issue?

Mike

Hey guys i used the nemisis software to change my phones code to (0548298) .
And went on to update my phone version to v20.
After installing the new update, i used the nemisis suite to change my code back to the original code.
It worked just fine . And i now have the latest v20 firmware working great on my phone, even though it wasnt available for my original code 😊
All u guys with similar issues could download the nemisis suite at ( http://thenokiablog.com/2007/05/12/how-to-update-firmware-debranding-andor-change-language-pack-on-the-nokia-n95/ ) .
Just remember to change your code back to the original after the update, so it doesnt create any hassels later on when you give to the dealers for servicing.
Have fun.

hi,
With the nss tweak tool I needed to change the device code to "alps" region to make the fw. v20 available for my phone. But now the search on today screen does not start anymore. It just starts only when memory card has been removed. Then it runs perfectly! Any idea where this behaviour comes from?

Thanks & cheers,
Matt

I could get it to work, but at least you now have "Play on the device" again just above "Play on own network" 😊)

Is there really a v2.0 out there and, if so, why am I not privy to it? I've had so many problems with my handset (I'm on about my tenth), that it came with the latest update installed so, I can't understand why I am not offered the update.

No the v2.0 does not really exist. It's one big conspiracy theory to prevent the martians from taking over our peacful planet.
Get off your arse and read a bit about your problems and you'll find that your question has already been asked about a million times in this thread alone.

where do I get it??? I tried with the nokia software updater, but it shows I have the latest version(12.0.013) and it won't get the 20.0.015??? what should I do???

I just upgraded from v11 to v12.
the nokia upgrade software did not give me the option to get v20.
I'm using N95 (Hebrew) Code: 0534857

Hey, has anyone updated this yet? If so, any chance of some feedback....I am reading some posts where the guys are saying it is not worth it and others say it is.....
Please can you let us know and tell us what Product Code you have so this can probably explain why some are not happy as they may have a different Product Code.

Cheers

Hi,

I've cahnged the device code to allow upgrade from 12.0.013 to 20.0.015

the following were choosen:
0534857, 0536079,0548298

when running the nokia software upgrade, I'm getting the "approval" that I can
download the new firmware (20.0.015), but when trying to install it (it failed even to download the new firmware)...

Any idea?

Thanks,
idan

After installing V20 and restoring my backup from Nokia Suite I find everything works bar the Wifi. Now if I try and use the Wifi connection I get "Connection not Available". That's using the defined access point for my local network that worked prior to the upgrade. Reboot the phone, start again and the same result.

So just in case the defined access point is corrupt, I delete it totally and then use the WLAN scanning feature to rescan it. I select Start Web Browsing, it detects my signal, I then input the WPA key when it asks and it comes up "Access Point Defined". Then it comes back up asking for the key again. It is correct as I know it like the back of my hand. So I select OK to accept what I put in before but it just keeps popping back up.

Now I know my network is ok, and the key is correct also so it's something in this update that screwed up the Wifi.

Anyone else having problems?

I have just updated my firmware to v20 and all is working fine except when I slide the phone down the media does not open anymore it just changes the screen to landscape mode....

Is this just me or is it suppose to happen????

Dear Friends.
There might be some of you, unable to upgrade to the v20 for the n95 yet.
I have a solution (as i did the same to get the upgrade).

Use the nemisis software to change your phones code to (0548298) .
And went on to update my phone version to v20.
After installing the new update, i used the nemisis suite to change my code back to the original code(The original code can be found printed on the sticker inside your phone).
It worked just fine . And i now have the latest v20 firmware working great on my phone, even though it wasnt available for my original code

Matt,
You need not change ur code to that of the area u live in. You can change it to any other code ( they have a list of codes on the Nemsis page).

http://thenokiablog.com/2007/05/12/h...the-nokia-n95/ ) .

Use one of the codes there, and change it . BUT after ur install use the NSS tool to change ur code back to your original code. And you'll have no problems at all.

Look above .. i did post a material for ppl having the same problem as you.

Fring "Find me" -feature has NOT BEEN WORKING after this firmware update.
Otherwise fring works but not Find me feature.

Firmware upgrade not available for my Nokia 95 (RM-159) product code 0551963.
How long we have to wait? What about battery life improvements?

You can indeed upgrade straight from V11 to V20, I wasn't given a choice, as far as I know it always upgrades to newest version.. Probably 'cause Nokia only want to support new firmwares.

Not had a chance to play with it yet, I was just reading the thread whilst I was upgrading.

Also, does anyone else HATE 'Search'? I always remove it!

i havew just upgraded from v11 to v20 without sny problems.
Wicked difference!

Would recommend the upgrade

This release has certainly sped things up ten fold, the camera facility on firmware v12 was really slow.... not any more though.
I would advise anyone to do this, well worth it. just to add to that I would recommending wipping Sd Card at the same time as it cleans everything up then.

😊

I gave up waiting for O2 UK to approve the firmware as it seems ridiculous that they hadn't approved even the v12 update. Just Google for debrand N95 and you'll find out how to do it. It's well worth the effort (which is quite trivial).

It's funny that O2 supports every Apple iPhone update the minute it comes out, but won't support Nokia updates in the same way.

I decided to use the nokia updater & it said that my phone was running version 11.0.026 and that it was the latest version :S What's going on there??????

V20 firmware update did all that was promised, BUT, the headset multimedia buttons no longer work nor does the mic when making a handsfree call with the headset. Have noticed this bug starting to be reported on various forums. Guess we can look forward to a new version soon( I hope!!)

Option to "Create Muvee" has disappeared for me and also Voice Dialing gives an error "Voice System Error"

Can someone here confirm if i'm on my own with this one before I go through the firmware reload path.

Cheers.

yeah i have the exact same problems with my N95 after upgraded to v20 and now the theme short cut and "create muvee" option has disappeared completely off my unit. i've tried re-updates it like 5 times already but nothing seem to work. now i cant do jack with my pics and videos. since it has more RAM now it should be an excellent tools to process movie but NOOOO its gone!

can anyone help somehow?
the other issues are when ever i plug the phone into the computer and the head phone at the same time. it just somehow freeze and you cant do anything else but praise to god and have to take the battery out to jump start it back to live.

and sometimes when you plug the headphone when you charging the phone, it somehow restarting itself or when pluging in the headphone it suddenly restart.
and the other problem is the microphone of volume is somehow is quite low in this version. When i'm making a call to people, they seem to have problem hearing me and tell me to speak louder when i am speaking real loud.

these are the problem that i've encounter. Also it is seem that the video recording quality is show how reduced compared to the previous firmware.

gime some solution: [email protected]

thank guys
