It is really time for some smart people to crack the firmware: to make it get the new firmware's improvements but keep the old GPS app, with tracking. Don't lick NOKIA's ass shiny, folks. They don't deserve any appreciation.
Their Santa Claus rips you instead of giving.
The N95 classic hits v20 firmware!!
When will some of these functions be available for the E90?
Well I upgraded yesterday and this morning got a rude shock. The alarm no longer goes off if the phone is switched off! Is there a setting that can rectify this?
Install an app called NStarter on this firmware and when you choose the list of apps to assign to a number there is a LiveTV app listed, and it opens! Hidden app people...
My backup restore froze at around 60 something percent, so SMSes went to nilspace forever... Disappointing. And all my DRM stuff for my music. And all my bookmarks.
But I must admit this firmware rocks. But life at the bleeding edge of technology sure is painful.
Well, anyone got an idea if the BH-903 really will work with the N95 v20.x.x., and not only the N95 8gig?
Stop complaining about the stupid "Start Tracking" feature!
Posted some WMA + A2DP battery life benchmarks - see the first, updated post at http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/66910/&page=10
WHY on earth do we in Hungary here ALWAYS have to wait more more more than others around us for friggin updates?! Honestly, wtf's SO EFFIN COMPLEX about it that they can just NEVER release such stuff GLOBALLY?! Really, Nokia, this is freakin FRUSTRATING/ANNOYING!!!

Yes I have seen this too, there are 2 apps, Live TV and iptvprovisioningapp. They both run, I think they will be included in newer phones and was just added to the build but wont be available for the n95... it has an interface and everthing. Shame. Looks cool!
Does anyone know what 'Theme effects' do in the themes menu? (If you click options on a theme)
I have noticed the media player lights dont come on under the cover now which I thought was a bit of a bodge/cr@p before. Guess it saves power not having them on ALL the time.
Has anybody got anything on this live tv app???

Live TV App works great for me, love it! Shame have to use NStarter to run it all the time...
i think i have an unbranded nokia n95 (C7.01) product code 0548763. i'm having an issue with updating from 12.0.013. any advice?

Have a look at post #143. It explains how to change the product code and make the upgrade with another code. I did it and everything worked well!
Be aware - if the phone detects that the firmware has been messed with it will refuse to boot.
hmm it seems after I upgraded, Search 4.0 no longer works when I've got the memory card installed. If I take it out it works fine but then whats the point in that?
My update process was....remove memory card, backup phone using PC Suite, upgrade fw, retrieve backup and then put the memory card back in.
Anyone know of a workaround this massive pain in the arse?
EDIT (12/02/2007): some VERY thorough battery life tests have been published with the new, v20 firmware at http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/67175/#post350782 . Don't forget to check it out!

This, however, has nothing to do with product code change - did you mean that?
Any word on when this will be available in the usa? I tried to update the firmware on my unlocked N95-1 and it says that 12.0.013 is the latest.
Well I upgraded to V20.... and I still have my bluetooth problems. I use an external Bluetooth GPS and a Bluetooth Headset.
On a 40 minute journey today I lost BT connection 4 times. Not much use as a phone or a navigation system.
I'm going back to my N73 which worked perfectly and never dropped the Bluetooth once.
N95's going on ebay. I'f your thinking of buying one, probably best to think again.
Hello All. I installed the firmware successfully and noticed improvements all around, for the most part.
However, the new Active Standby Search (Internet and My Content) function does not work at all! I click on it, but nothing happens. Any ideas?!
Is there a way to "re-install" this firmware, in the event that something buggy happened the first time around? Prior to upgrading, i backed up the phone data to the PC, and after upgrading, imported everything from PC to phone without any error messages whatsoever.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Just connect it up again and the software updater will ask if you really want to "re-install" the same version. You could try a hard reset which would be quicker, though I always forget the code for this function.
Hi, I'm still on v12 firmware which included a 3day trial of the maps navigation. I updated to v12 as soon as it came out and immediately tested the free navigation...many months later I still have the free navigation
I have a few questions...
1) v12 3day maps navigation trial; is that 3full days i.e. 72hours of navigation or 3days from when activated.
2) Does v20 come with trial period for maps navigation too?
As you can imagine I'm reluctant to upgrade to v20 and loose the free navigation that I currently have, but if there is a similar trial period to the one I am currently enjoying then v20 here I come.
Can anyone comment on the above...many thanks and keep the useful info coming.
Newbie
appears to be 3 days of use not 72 hours but quite a few people like you got the upgrade accidentally for free, search for it in google and there's some discussion about wether its based on IMEI so it should work after firmware upgrade, not sure if anyones actually PROVED it yet
All in all v20 is a huge upgrade for me, biggest changes are
shutter lag virtually disappeared
maps time to lock reduced from 1-4mins to about 20 secs sometimes less
N95 RM 159 0534841 (should be sand, but mine was plum, WTF?) - unbranded, SIM-free phone bought in Italy where I live.
the Nokia Updater says there's new firmware v20 available, downloads 114.9MB, but when I run it, it says "Upgrade failed".
Phone works all right, but still on v12.
Any idea of what I am doing wrong ?
EDIT: I seem to have resolved the issue in the simplest of ways, i.e. with the old Power cycle. It might have to do with the fact that I had BT on and therefore the phone was connected through both BT and USB
Sector wrote:After upgrading to the latest firmware 20.0.015 the cable usb connection doesnt work. Bluetooth works just find...Any ideas, suggestions, help.
Hi Sector,
I had the same problem. I had to uninstall the cable driver & PC suite off my computer and then reinstall it.
I then followed the setup screens and yay, PC suite would finally see my phone!
Hope this helps...

Hi, just a thought but have you tried reinstalling the accelerometer app again before installing Lightsabre?
Has anyone got any problems with flash lite? When I upgraded to v12 I noticed that flash animations (such as older Weebl & Bob toons) started to, well, judder is the only word for it. On v11 I never had a problem but now on v20, flash animations play ridiculously slow & it can't play the older W&B toons anymore.
Any ideas?
I've just tried reinstalling the v20 firmware update in case something didn't come across properly the 1st time but unfortunately it hasn't improved Flashlite's performance. 😞

v20 Not available for my Nokia 95 (RM-159) product code 0547466 - still at 12.0.013 - How do you get around this issue and force the update?
With my product code (0551192) I am only offered the update that I already have - the one that is achingly slow in responding to keypresses, switching between apps or generally doing anything on the N95.
Is there really a v2.0 out there and, if so, why am I not privy to it? I've had so many problems with my handset (I'm on about my tenth), that it came with the latest update installed so, I can't understand why I am not offered the update.
