This thread included a poll: 7650 OR P800

Did you mentioned the faster cpu (200 Mhz)?

And the bigger variety of Emulators (for classic fans-not only goboy but also MAME).

The Memory cards...

The built in software (7650 is only good because everything it has not you can find it as 3rd party.

MP3!!!

Much better bluetooth...

Much better battery

There is also a port on the lower part of P800 so we may see some real nice accessories like a chatboard or a gps (like the one of 9210)
7650 has only IrDA and bluetooth and the last one is buggy...

And also about the availability of 3rd part. progs it is growing very fast.

DON'T TELL ME YOU WANT MORE...

What is wrong with BT ( 4.39)
There will be real GPS for 7650 ( releas soon)
why you need MP3 ( this is phone)
Battery is weak correct but for regular use OK(3-4days)

CONSIR 7650 AS HIGH END PHONE AND NOT AS PHONE+PDA

BT is data only, not audio, so in car use is better with the P800

Yes applications for simulated GPS maybe (via carrier cell sites), but not the real thing

MP3, you are right, it is a phone, but it can be so much more and the P800 gives you more

I wish I could get 3-4 days from my standard 7650 battery!!!

Just my opinion, you have yours.

Bob :rainbow1:

BT handsfree correct, 7650 lack that feature. There is company in South Africa developing BT headset (general use( 7650 included) It will work via BT dongle connected to the headset connector))
GPS - via BT is real. There is link somewere in forums
Battery 3-4 days. YES with limited cammera use

I'm having problems logging in, so this is as a guest:

The GPS on 7650 is via the Mobile network cells not satellite communication, if you are out of network coverage you don't know where you are!!! The only way to get real GPS is via a hardware addition which is in development for the P800 not the 7650 - sorry

3-4 days from limited everything use!!! I don't use the camera much but am lucky to get a good day and a half from a full charge.

Bob 😞

P.S. I do still love my 7650 though

Hi Bob

Some search. here you will find more info about GPS for 7650:
http://www.phonetica.no
BT headset: info about BT headsets
http://www.plantronics.com

From the beginning i never has a problem with BT or InfraRed on 7650...

never... ( i have 3.16, XP Pro, Belkin USB BT)

Many problems there are configurations things...

but no hardware problems.. not a 7650 bugg...
it's a human problem...

So!... anyway.. compare the Prices of P800 and 7650... no way!...

7650 it's the best you can get it for the price...

and i am sure when P800 fall price to the 7650 price.. (thing that i doubt, because there are too many Nokia Fans, and less SonyEricsson ones)
Nokia will realease a better product with a little bit higher price, but not a double price like the P800 = $800 ? 😃 come on!... i feel rape with that.

cya!

y vote to 7650.. the best phone ever! 8)

The memory is not a problem eather... you simply have to know how to use it... put the really importan apps and data there and you always get a free mem enought.

I stand corrected on the GPS front, I was not aware of the compatability of third-party Bluetooth based GPS devices with the 7650. I am using the miniGPS software at present as this type of information is enough for me at present.

If I want local information I use WAP, the maps feature looks great though.

As for the Bluetooth Headset from Plantronics acording to their web site the only bluetooth headset that they produce is the M1000 - which is not compatable with the 7650 as far as I can see. The problem being that the 7650 is Bluetooth data only and this headset would need some kind of bluetooth audio dongle attached to the 7650 to enable Voice over BT.

If I am wrong, or have missed the product on their site then please let me know?
I have voted some time ago and to say the truth I did't expect that results. I expected worst...

Well people just don't understand. They think that by misleading other people will protect their property.

They buy a new sony hifi and they think it's the best because THEY BOUGHT IT.

they buy a new PC giving a load of money(although they know nothing about PCs) for an Intel CPU and an nVidia Card and they think it is the best because it was too expensive and also because it was their brand new buy, and they won't change their mind even if they see/read mags and sites showing the numbers the other way (eg. ATI 9700 faster and cheaper than Geforce4Ti and AMD cpus faster and cheaper than Intels of the same "name" speed.)

PS:And about my vote... P800 all the way. Having a 7650 does't meen it's a better phone... 😉
I llike your style 😉

Ok, let's put the question the other way.

Why 7650 is better than P800?

Even to that question the answers will be more related to what you people like and like not and not what the specs of these devices say. You said that you are not interested in some futures of P800 like MP3 because it is a mobile phone, well P800 is not only a mobile phone as non of the symbian devices are only mobile phones, so in other words if you wanted a phone you should't buy 7650 but something else like 7210,7250,t68i,Panasonic gd87,etc.

Seeing the specs of this device and watching carefully the question (which is the best phone for proffesional use) I would easily again say that P800 is better (not only technologically) than 7650. Although I think right now the best phone for this use is 9210i but not for too much time, until P800 becomes more mature and some more hardware will come for it(like a keyboard/chatboard).

PS:I really like my phone like all of you like yours. That's why we bought it right, but when it comes the time to suggest a phone or sth else to someone let's not only stick to our opinions and let's give more attention to the needs of the people, what is better for a specific use and also what is better for it's money (P800 maybe is more expensive than 7650 but it has everything you need in the package, not only the usuals battery,charger,manual+1cd). Although I am a university student I have worked for some time on making PC's and what have I learned? Never make choices based on others opinions but rather what the facts say and also what experienced people say either on magazines or the web (not only one source but many to confirm) and even then make the choice based on your needs. And also I have never mislead someone to promote anything...

Hi All
It's look like that firs we have to determine if the 7650 and P800 are in the same class or P800 is in the class of Communicators (9210).

About BT Headset:
At Plantronics site there is also M1500 in three versions:
- M1500
- M1500-N1
- M1500-N2
All of them have BT dongle which will be plugged to the 7650 headset connector. If you have phone which support VOICE over BT than you do not need BT dongle.

VEry surprising results indeed, but I do suppose this is the 7650 forum, personally I think the p800 is a far supperior handset... But each to his own

Why is the P800 better than a 7650? The simple answer is that it lets you do MORE with the same size/form. You can argue why you need MP3s, organisers, web browsers on a phone, but at the same time, a 7650 gives you a camera, organisers, downloadable games. So WHY do you need these functions on a 7650 while you can have a normal 8310 at a much reduced size? Where do you draw the line at what is desirable and what is excessive in a phone? How does a gadget move from being just a phone to a smartphone/pda? The moment Nokia themselves marketed 7650 as a smartphone, there was no way it's going to escape comparisons with p800, which is also a smartphone.

All of us have preferences for what we want in our own gadget, like many 9210 users are still convinced they have the best device. But I'd like to think that, without prejudice, the specifications speak objectively that the P800 can accomplish way more than the 7650. Maybe you guys can try to challenge this objectively.

I agree to everyone that it all depends on one's needs. That's why there is a variety of products all over. The best thing here is that, we consumers benefit a lot from it. P800 or 7650? It's all up to you. 😉
