Ewan back-fills our review section with a detailed look at the third major product in one of his specialist categories: live video streaming. Kyte.TV Mobile Producer impresses from the start and in some ways is the most polished of the three (Kyte, Qix, Flixwagon). [Gentle warning: viewing this review will require you to get up close and personal with Mr Spence.... 😊 ]

Why wont you test bambuser also??? IMO, there are 4 major players on that field, not 3

Seems like uploading pre-recorded videos was the winning feature for you, yet this has nothing to do with live streaming. There are a million programs out there that allow you to do this... even youtube. Not sure how this plays a role in the live streaming arena.
Also, Kyte is one of the most difficult mobile applications out there to use. Obviously for an uber-techy like you, it's not a problem. However, for the mainstream audience (i.e. - my Dad & Mom) to understand things like mobile producer, creating a channel, etc. is not an easy task. Only something that is as easy as start/stop will ever make it in to the mainstream audience similar to taking photos with a cell phone. The other live mobile streaming players make it this easy... surprised you said for a novice user to check out Kyte first; definitely doesn't make sense.
And how is Kyte not a destination site? They pay artists like Kanye and 50 cent to use Kyte as their primary 'media production channel' so that Kyte gets the page views and ad revenues. If that isn't a destination site, I don't know what is...
ewan, i agree with your analysis and conclusion (in contrast to the previous commenter). to be able to upload live streams, as well as pre-recorded vids (and pics) to the same flash-applet on a webiste is clearly a big advantage.
100% certified off-topic comment: is the 5800 hands on preview by Rafe coming soon? Been checking every day in the hopes that it would be there. 😊
Viipottaja, I'm not completely sure but it may be.
Viipottaja - soon (this week) I hope. I'm waiting a little bit in the hope I may get one to play with for a few days. This'll let me go into some extra detail that I can't do based on a hour or so at the launch event.
Hi,
Ulysses King from Kyte here.
Ewan, thanks so much for taking a look at the Kyte Platform. We really appreciate it.
Just wanted to clarify a few things from the reader comments.
We are not paying 50 Cent, Kanye West, or anyone else to use Kyte. In fact, Kanye West doesn't even have a Kyte channel, but his label mate Consequence does. You can read about it here: http://allhiphop.com/stories/lifestylegadgets/archive/2008/10/10/20571998.aspx
Also, we are not a destination site. Kyte.tv is meant to be a reference site. Our model is that our users' brand is the destination and their fans should be able to view branded content wherever they are (e.g. social networks, blogs, mobile phones, other web sites, etc.). So, we want you to watch the Huffington Post, SPIN Magazine, Consequence, 50 Cent, etc Kyte channels on their destination sites, or blogs, social networks and website that have embedded their channel -- not on Kyte.tv.
Hope that helps clear things up.
Thanks,
Ulysses
