according to Ricky at mobileguru.com there's a new N96 firmware update floating about .. "not for Euro" ?? according to his video blog.
So hopefully you folks who've been moaning about v11 will see good things shortly. 😊

Steve mentioned this yesterday my friend..
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/78264/
Still dubious on it authenticity myself.
theres a v12 fw executable file iv seen to use with phoenix so it is legit, just gota wait around 2 weeks.
I got a text from "My Nokia" today saying that there is new firmware out for my phone (I'm allready on the V11 software though)
I checked with NSU and I am on the most current firmware. It may have been to tell me O2 have released a new firmware, as thats my original product code
I have checked FOTA this morning, and nothing yet.
I've downloaded Nokia_firmware_RM-247_EMEA_12.035_v04.00EFAJQROM.exe and installed using Phoenix.
It took a few goes and eventually worked using the "dead" flash mode, with the phone turned off - and switching it on when prompted by Phoenix.
Dare I say it, phone seems a little bit faster even TomTom appears more responsive.
Oh, and all my settings were saved. Phone numbers, access points etc.
Any q's - i'll be happy to try and answer.

Just checked with my phone (not locked to anything) and V12 isn't available
No idea where the other poster got theirs, as the link further up is to a hack site and not legitimate
bubs
someone has leaked v12 firmware and it has been uploaded to rapidshare and torrents across the web
if people know how , using flash software you will be able to flash the handset with that v12 that has been leaked
acording to the other user he has flashed his phone via phoneix with v12 -- it isnt avalible via nsu for around 1 week now maybe less maybe more but it should be coming very soon if the file has been leaked
if he has flashed his device i would like to know his comments on the v12 as ive heard it is supposed to be quite a big firmware update for the n96
Do you have to change product code to flash with pheonix?
also can you post some results for this firmware?
speed, battery life improvments?
also does the navi wheel work now?
so far the changes are:
faster UI
no lagging
faster cam opening
63mb free ram on boot
faster bootup time
maps is now wk39
and realplayer is a new version
thats all i know so far

now i just gota update my phone now.
Phone feels considerably quicker to respond to everything. Slicker, don't know how else to describe it.
Real player version is now reporting :
S60 HX cvs_cays221_20080910:05:00:00utc 10 Sep 2008 21:23
Not had a single crash since I applied the update, I don't think i've even rebooted to be honest.
Phone has been used for a 380 mile round trip with TomTom, many phone calls - surfing the .net via Wireless & 3G.
All I can say is ... apply the update with Phoenix, it is worth it. The firmware feels legit - and if it isn't I don't care 'cos it works a treat!
Someone asked for photo's - what do you photo's of? The menu's don't appear any different.
Ok I'm bored of waiting for NSU, wanna give this a go, where do i get the files?

C'mon ... what sort of nerd are you? 😊
Download a bootable linux CD, make a 20Gb partition on your existing drive, do a dual boot, install XP, install SP3, install phoenix. Rockin.
You'll have a new phone quicker than you can say Antidisestablishmentarianism.
How far are you from Liverpool?

That's done
My new shiny N96 arrived yesterday from Vodafone, first thing I did was change the product code using NSS and up grade the firmware to version 12 using Phoenix, it all went very smoothly.
I can't compare what it like before, but the upgrade is not as scary as it seems.
i'm on v11.101 nokia n96 ... :icon13::icon13::icon13::icon13:😡😡
how do i update to v12.035 ?
regards,
Benoit.
You update by using Nokia Software Updater (NSU) from http://www.nokia.com/softwareupdate
If NSU says a new(er) version is not available, then you wait and try again later until it becomes available for your country/region, or operator/network (if you have an operator customized device).
i don't want to wait for nsu !!!
