Total newbie here. I have googled around and used the search function here but still can't find the answer to this question. Apologies if it's been discussed more than likely it's my brain not able to take in all the info, there's lots of it!
Anyway can anyone tell me whether the n97 has FULL flash support? Not just the flash lite kit. After searching around I'm still really not clear on this point and it would be the make or break for me on this phone. I'm looking for a fully integrated device, straight out of the box, no laptop or pc, that can play flash 9 video, as far as I'm aware this doesn't exist the mobile world. Can someone who has used the n97 enlighten me?
And if not, do you know of any mobile that can?
Thanks very much😊

Can someone explain to me why AAS allows random unregistered people to make comments on the forum. This kind is stuff KILLS forums, because decent people are turned off.

Sorry about that, I've deleted the offending message.
We allow unregistered posts because most unregistered posters know how to behave, but unfortunately there are always some idiots who just don't care about others.
If things get worse though, maybe there shouldn't be unregistered posters...
With this being the new Nokia on the market how come it only has a 5 Megapixel camrea whilst other manufacturers are coming out with 8 megapixel
Does anyone know if the Nokia for Business site will carry a version of BlackBerry Connect (BBC) for the N97?
I'm a Nokia 9300 user and have grown accustomed to the "push" BlackBerry email convenience.
Also do we know for sure that the support for Word/Excel/Powerpoint is more than just a viewer (i.e. it will have edit capability)?
I look forward to the Java implementation to run JPC (PC emulation in Javascript). It opens a whole 'nother world of programs and capability.
Finally, I sure hope that Mobipocket will develop a good version of Mobireader for the N97. So far it appears that they have been abandoning Symbian in favor of WM6 and the iPhone.
1 question, is the N97 support North America 3G?
According to the news reports that I've read, there are no announced plans for a US 3G version. There are, however, unsubstantiated rumors.
Since I plan on replacing my 9300b (US version) with the N97, it will provide me status-quo performance as all I can get is EDGE with the 9300b.
Besides, there's still a lot of 3G "dead-zones" and if you read some of the reports that are out there, even where there is 3G, the scarcity of bandwidth capacity causes a lot of devices to fall back to EDGE service unless you're a priority client of the carrier.
The main benefit of the N97 is WiFi which is more plentiful and faster.
Some people are complaining about the camera, but tbh, i prever a 5MP carl zeiss tessar lens above a stardard 8MP lens, the quality is better.
Once i had a LG Shine, with 2MP schnieder kreuznach lens, made a photograph, made photograph with my dads phone also a 2MP but with a standard lens, well the photo of my LG was way better, and way sharper.
still i wanna know the processor speed, and RAM
anyway i've got the n95 8GB really like it, but sometimes its kinda slow in the menu's hopefully n97 will be atleast much faster.
+ point is the battery (1500 mAh) Nokia learned from the mistakes in battery from the N96 and normal N95
hi - the main reason for me considering the 97 is the keyboard - i used a full screen qwerty one on my htc touch (yes wm!) all the time and that is a must for me coming back to symbian - so it is the 97, or if the kbrd is pants on that, then maybe the 5800 with screen board - certainly the 97 is most interesting prospect
cheers

The specs say that it is a 528 MHz quad-core processor. By comparison the iPhone is a 608 MHz single-core processor.
This means that for some tasks the parallel core processing will make the N97 faster than the iPhone.
As for RAM...the specs say that the base N97 will come with 32 GB of RAM and can be expanded to 48 GB by using a 16 GB micro-SD card.
I'm a little disappointed that the site that I pre-ordered mine from is now saying that delivery is expected May 10th.
There have been a couple of announcements of software for the N97 already:
1. A rotary touchscreen dialer program (i.e. "retro"😉 with sound effects.
2. From Nokia Beta labs, an image viewer with kinetic 3D scrolling and facial recognition scanning.
An early post in this thread asked about Full Flash capability...information on this subject has been hard to come by. When we begin to receive our N97's we'll have to run it against some of the benchmark sites to determine functionality and compatibility.
Meanwhile we have to wait 🙄
More news!!
Nokia has submitted an N97 to the US FCC for approval.
This means that there WILL be a U.S. 3G version.
When....?
Reports says "sometime after the European version is rolled out".
Meanwhile...we wait.
Nokia also submits all European models to the FCC (as they're often sold in the USA before or instead of North American models). So before you celebrate, check that it is model with US 3G frequencies and not the European model.

Can you please let me know where you found out the processor is 528 Mhz quad-core processor?
I very much doubt it will be quad core anything becuase i don't think there is room for that.
According to what someone wrote on wikipedia it is a mxsomethingsomething with an overclocked 600mhz Arm11 cpu core.
I read on a comment that it had the ARM11 MPcore processor:
http://www.arm.com/products/CPUs/ARM11MPCoreMultiprocessor.html
It can be configured to have one to four processors.
I'll continue to look for more detailed information. I've already downloaded and read through the user manual (available on the FCC website).
The FCC website has disassembled internal photos but I can't read the processor information off of the chips to confirm what chipset is used.
its not MPcore. or anything special.
its the same stuff in the 5800. but the clock speed is unknown.
look in the mobile review n97 cpu thread.
The FM transmitter is only on the EU version and is only allowed to be used in:
France
Belgium
Czech Republic
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
Germany
Iceland
Liechtenstein
Luxembourg
Norway
Portugal
Spain
Switzerland
Sweden
Turkey
United Kingdom
see: www.nokia.com/fmtransmitter
It has about a 6 ft (2 meter) broadcast radius and is intended for playing back audio over spare FM frequencies in your auto or home.
Touch has been part of Symbian since before it was Symbian...
Psion WAS Symbian before it was Symbian...

Glad to see this, because having recently pre-ordered my N97 from a UK source, because it worked out almost 300 euros cheaper, I keep noticing, the UK specs of the N97 don't mention the FM Transmitter. I really do hope it comes with the UK model.
Hi all,
Does anyone know ALL the differences between the N97 sold in North America and the global version for most of the other countries?
From what I have seen:
America does NOT have an FM transmitter or Nokia Music etc, global does (any idea why?)
America does NOT have HSDPA and GPRS, global has HSDPA and GPRS.
I know the american version will work in Dubai United Arab Emirates, but I guess GPRS etc won't. Question is, is this a hardware or software based issue? If software I can just try and flash it with a version of global software, correct?
Any help on other differences and other tips would be great. I ordered the phone on Amazon, and just noticed these differences, which may make me have to cancel the order.
Thanks!
PS - Sorry if I double posted; not sure which was the best thread post in!
Hi,
Just wondering about the TV-out feature. Will it always display exactly what is on the N97's screen, or is it limited to what is played on the inbuilt media player? More specifically, can I view the browser on the TV-out, or better, Opera Mini/Skyfire, games, ...?
/Magnus
how much is it in php answer it via e mail
for me, n97 is unique from other Nseries. i hope that price ranges from 25000 pesos to 30000 pesos only. ill buy this item buy the end of the year
dont go with n97 or nay other nokia phones but u can get all most all futers in samsung corby hahahahash
After seeing the specs and details of N97 What I liked the most is 32GB of Internal Memory and 5 MP Camera with Carl Zeiss Optics. N97 is one step ahead of Nokia 5800. Every feature is available in this phone. 3.5 inches touch screen, bluetooth, usb, 32 gb inbuilt memory with 16 gb external. 36 hrs battery backup for mp3. This set is just amazing. Good set with excellent features and good look.
