That's nice. I'm being invited to Nokia Care Points now...

I don't need an invite! I've got a bloody season ticket!

Signed!

I normally don't hold any hope for online petitions, but I pray this helps you guys out (and maybe me if mine becomes the next victim to this issue).

dave! dave! dave!

Remember the old saying:-

Patience is a virtue,
Possess it if you can.
Seldom found in a woman,
Never in a man!

It's not even been 24 hours yet and you have the weekend to go still, plus you must take into account that this is the holiday season.

😛

It's still climbing!

As I have suggested in another thread, it might be worth putting out a press release of your own to the various national newspapers, tech magazines and TV companies with regards to this global problem.

It certainly worked in the case of the Apple iPhone when they were forced to actually give refunds to customers!

Am I the only one who's cover hasn't scratched the lens, though?

Mine's not scratched, but I've hardly used the camera since I heard about the lens scratching, and when I do I make sure I put no pressure on the lens cover.

Hopefully it will last <head in the clouds>until Nokia sorts it out......</head in the clouds>

well. i have joined the club, to be excact 10 minutes ago 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

i ve only used the camera 4-5 time, everytime opened it with finger nail, putting no pressure on the F***** cover and still managed to leave a nice big long scratch in the middle of the lens, feel like crying, i really had enough.

put this on top of bad signal/coverage and bad GPS i really feel like smashing this thing into pieces.

I have a proposal for Nokia.

All N97 owners get the next Flagship phone (N900) FREE.

This might pacify some of us.

I just finished about 10 hours of factory-reset, resetting-up and reinstallation of software just so I can get enough free memory on the C: drive to not crash the web browser (by the way it STILL happens about 1/6 times even with 45 MB free on C: drive).

I set up Maps 2.0 since it was the last "accurate" version. It correct found my position after about 6 minutes. It still is agonizingly slow compared to my TomTom One. I doubt that I'll ever feel comfortable enough with Nokia's Maps programs to EVER spend any money to buy a navigation license. You BLEW it, Nokia!

thats wishful thinking.

that wont happen.

im a fool for buying this phone, i read all the thing people said about the phone, mainly GPS and lens issues and still went and bought it thinking ill get a good working version.

the least nokia can do now is to take my handset and replace the lens and cover with a new modified version simmilar to N86 and also replace the GPS antenna with a stronger one.

as of now ive started spreading bad reviews on N97 where ever i can to deter people buying this rubbish, hope nokia learn a lesson.

hey dave,

i see you're not far off 500 signatures on your petition ...... do you know if nokia have seen this and have seen how many people are unhappy with their phones ?

No idea. Waiting for a callback from the N97 dedicated support line supervisor - the regular phone folks are less forthcoming with information I think...

According to the published sales figures they've shifted about 500k, so 500 is only 0.1% of disatisfied customers - but that's still 1 in 1,000. I don't know if 1 in 1,000 matters to a manufacturer!

From the consumer end that's got to be around 300,000 of hard earned money signing the petition...

well i'm officially in "the club" There is NO WAY of avoiding this happening on your phone. I was as careful as ever with this lens cover and i have taken......wait for it.......3 photos in my entire time of having the phone.
