it was 430 with 20 percent quidco. Works out to 360 ish

I think quidco have stopped that deal as well now 😞

been trying 0800 331 6021 for nokia sales all morning, been constantly engaged, i get the feeling i'm not the only one with a shipping issue!

Jeepers... that's about �200 (�228/$320) cheaper than my N97 was!

my understanding is that its not out of stock as in sold out, but stock has yet to come in, they will get them on 22nd Oct

Ordered mine last week and haven't received it from Nokia UK yet - order's just sitting there and credit card not charged yet so it's obviously not out for delivery. As you say, website has said in stock since at least Thursday.

I know some people have had them dispatched and delivered over the last couple of days so maybe we're just at the back of the queue...

actually I logged onto Tesco direct at the weekend, and saw that the PAYG version was in stock!

So i ordered it, thinking its probably an error and i presumed they were not allowed to send them until at least 22nd, but they despatched it on Sunday and it arrive yesterday! very impressed

needless to say i cancelled the nokia order

only problem was that my O2 sim (despite what everyone has told me) did not work in the phone, so i cancelled my simplicity and went with tesco mobile sim only, which currently is very cheap at �10 a month

Well it doesn't look like Nokia want my business (or insist on making it overly difficult!) 😞

They tried to process the order it today but my credit card fraud dept. picked it up to check the transaction (it came through as a Finland transaction, so fair enough) and I confirmed it was genuine. Nokia still cancelled the order and rather than re-instating it or allowing me to place another order straight away Nokia say I need to wait 3-5 days before trying again! Aaaarrgghh!!

So, no further forward apart from losing out on my 20% Quidco 🙄

Yep same thing happened with me tried to order on Nokia shop online. Card didn't process tried 3 times cause i though maybe i typed in wrong details. Then bank phoned asking if i made transaction. Then phoned Nokia for 30 odd minutes and they told me i'd be locked out for trying for 3 to 5 days because of there anti fraud procedures. My girlfriend then tried with her card and yep same thing happened with her card and bank phoned her to. I just want a Nokia N8 sim free phone i can't even spend my own money to get one. HELP

Anyway, I ended up going elsewhere and it's on it's way and will be delivered tomorrow :icon14:

Same nonsense with Nokia for me. Fraud call then "an unexpected error has occurred" when I try to order again. Absolute nonsense, do they actually want to sell any?

ME TOO!!! I rang them and they tried the transaction twice more, only for them to say that the card had been declined... although the money had left my account and the bank (Alliance and Leicester / Santander) said that the transaction HAD been authorised!!!

I sent an email to the shop saying that although the staff were friendly, there ability to help was appaling. The autoreply said that I would receive a response within 48 hrs, but 4 working days later I still haven't heard a thing.

I had to wait until today for the money to reappear in my account! thought I'd try again and still didn't work (bye �430 for another week), I also put some money in my natwest account to try that account instead, but they dont accept mastro... not impressed at all!

Are nokia really that unwilling to sell their products directly? I have been a nokia user for well over 10 years and nokia care has always been on the mark when I have needed a phone repaired under warrenty.

So now I guess I have 3 options:

• Wait until orange UK release the device and hope to hell that they dont add all their crap to the factory firmware (does anyone know if they will?)
  wait and order it from another retailer
  give up and get WP7 instead!

I still love my N85, but it nokia have failed to give it Mail for Exchange with HTML support, or free nokia maps and it no longer meets my needs.

I just upgraded an old Vodafone contract via Carphone Warehouse online. They had stock and the deal suited me fine in the end even though I'd initially wanted sim-free. As it's from CPW hopefully it's a generic unlocked model. We'll see.

It's put me off buying anything pricey through the Nokia store in future though :frown:

Thanks for that. Not for me unfortunately, I'm only a few months into a Voda contract with the work. I'll just need to wait for bit more for a sim free from a distributer who knows how to do business online.

Just came back to say that CPW did provide a totally unlocked generic N8, even though it's technically on a Vodafone contract 😊 At least I shouldn't get left behind for firmware updates as mine does seem to like to crash/reboot now and then 🙄 Nice phone though.

Went to the CPW got a sim-free unlocked phone for �379.99 had to buy a O2 pay as you go sim for a �10 but its got a months free internet on it so might use it. But bargin cheaper that the Nokia site glad my card didn't go through now.

They just called me back (what great service), guy put in the wrong code, they have three in stock. Off to get one, thanks very much for that info.

Really i live in Bristol went to a store near Hanham quite a small store not even in the centre of the city. They had Dark grey or Silver available. I could send you a picture of me holding the receipt if you want. haha. After having a play with it for a couple of hours now i like it alot not tried out the HDMI out or the camera yet just installing apps. Angry Brids was the first to go on and it looks sweet better than the version my sister got on her iPhone 3G.

I had to phone 5 different CPW stores yesterday, the first 4 said they had stock and that it was not yet available on PAYG, according to the computer there was no option for that sale. I then rang Derby (eagle ctr) and the manager there said they had 4 in stock and i went over and purchased it. It really is nonsensical that CPW make it so hard to spend hard earned cash in their stores.

Come on CPW at least get some uniformity on the information your stores give out 🙄

Sounds like a well done to CPW then and I don't say that very often! I'm also quite pleased the Nokia store couldn't get it's act together as things have turned out.

I know I've got a bit of a soft spot for Symbian after all these years but I'm amazed at the stick the N8 is getting from some quarters - I'm really pleased with it. I also have an HTC Desire and iPod Touch so it's not like I've got nothing to compare it with.

I Pre-orded the N8 with Nokia direct an emailed me saying i should recieve the N8 on the 15th October,so booked a day of work an sat there waiting for the N8 an didn"t recieve nothing,so phone nokia direct an the said there were doing another credit check on orders so i cancelled my contract with Nokia Direct,an went on Tesco Direct on orded the N8 on 16yth an recieved it on the 18th,an really happy with Tesco an now signed up for a sim deal with Tesco as well 500 minutes an Unlimited Text an Internet for �10 ,so this is best place to buy the N8 i can assure anyone

dstokoe, how do you think it compares to the htc desire? I've got one of those currently after upgrading a bit prematurely, but I'm thinking of selling it on to get an n8. My main gripes are that it feels a bit cheap and flimsy (bizarrely for such a high end device); the camera lens cover seems pretty poor (one tip I've seen for improving picture quality involves removing it), and the battery is far from ideal. I know the internet on the desire will probably be better than that currently on the n8, but other than that, what's your experience of the two?

I think O2 have just made my mind up for me about the N8. I had pre registered with them and they have just told me it is available from 29th Oct at, wait for it, over �40! (900 minutes and unlimited text and 750mb of data)

Not that I can't afford it, but im not bumping my contract up to that much for a terminal that 'could' be like the N97...

If they introduce some lower tariffs maybe, but i'm looking elsewhere I think (and I mean terminal wise!)

Go onto Tesco Direct they are the Cheapest place to get the N8 on pay as you go �329 an then there sim deals are really the Cheapest as well �10 for 500 minutes,unlimited text an internet ,orded my N8 last Saturday an got Monday morning,an its an amazing mobile from Nokia
