Or 10 for a 56K modem as you will get transmission speed far quicker than the IR speed between phone and notebook.

I have the same opinion. First of all why to try this?

or a solution looking for a problem??? 😮 there do appear to be easier ways to get on the net - maybe hans has a good reason for wanting to try this

Paul

thanks for your thoughts/opinions!

of course, i have a reason to try this! the computer connected to the internet is member of a company network, the notebook is not! it is not possible, to connect the nb to the company's network, as there is no dhcp or hard-wired ip-address i could use! and i don't want to spend money for a second bt-adapter! 😉

but this is no more interesting for me, because i can't get the ics work on the company's computer! 😞 maybe you have any hints? i cant check my mails via 7650, but at home it worked (till yesterday, now the ntfs on the hdd crashed, i can't even get this drive run in a second computer as slave disk, win2k crashes while booting! *grrrrrr*)

so maybe here is an ics specialist, i have admin rights and maybe need only some registry keys to import?!

thanks for any help!

If you cant physically put your laptop in to company network get a 2nd network card for your PC, run internet connection sharing wizard or something like sygate on the other interface (in Windows) or other NAT solution. Give the new NIC an internal IP and the laptop an internal IP et voila 😊 100mbps for about 40

For Win2k and ICS, the "Host" NIC must have IP 192.168.0.1.
Our friend must consider this before starting!

P.S.
You have Admin rights in your WKS??? 😮
I wonder how the Domain Admins left this... 😉

Sorry, that was me! I forgot to login... 😮ops:

A minority of networks i have worked on don't have the usual 192.168.0.xxx . I hope this is not the case with you because then you may have some problems with the network if you change the ip...

You are indeed crazy.. go get a NIC card for God sake

Do you think it is possible or do i waste my time??
:-?[/quote]

yes! i'm not stupid! i already build several networks with win2k, also with subnets and w2k-server as software-router! i know what i'm talking about! but i've never cared about policies and disabling any services to make a user's live hard! but here they did that! even if i'm member of the local admin group, i can't do everything! they locked this damn thing quite good!

but you were right! i would have to change the nic's ip to 192.168.x.x and would loose connection to the company's network!

i'm sorry for wasting your time! 😮ops:

but anyway: isn't it interesting to know, if our 7650 could do this job? 😊

i was wondering if its possible to use the PC's normal dialup 56k connection instead of having to pay for GPRS wap on my mobile (3650).. just a thought.
