Hi guys

Yes I have the 6600 in my hands as we speak!!! I'm so excited!!! It finally arrived this morning. I was very skeptical I was going to lay my hands on this beauty so soon.

Let me explain to you guys what happened: a small batch of N6600 in limited numbers has been released in Asia and other places in advance of the official release in the 3rd quarter. Some online retailers such as Expansys should be receiving their stock real soon. Let me also say that this is NOT a prelease phone. It is an official, final version, the only difference in the future might be in the firmware.

My first impression of the phone? I can't believe how small and light it is ! I thought it was going to be a lot bigger. The 6600 is only a little bit longer and a tiny bit thicker than my 7250 !! That's amazing ! Believe me: pictures you see on the net don't do this phone justice. The phone feels very solid to hold. No creaking parts and no moving battery cover! It really is a big improvement over the 3650. The phone doesn't feel or look like a toy.

The screen is also beautifull. Lots more colors, pictures look a lot better and much more clear than on the 7650 or the 3650. Menu icons have been redeisgned and look a lot better too. The one thing I noticed about the screen is that it seems to have a blue tint to it. Nothing to major to worry about but I did notice it. Refresh rate of the screen is also very good, especially when using the camera.

The phone is very fast !!! I think this version of Symbian is a vast improvement over what is on the 7650 and the 3650. Menus open fast. No more delays. It just seems a lot more polished.

The internal camera is about the same quality as on the 3650. No major improvements. It seems better though than the camera on the 7650. There are a few more features such as a selftimer and things like that. But overall the camera is about the same in terms of quality and features as on the 3650. The video camera is better than the one on 3650. What you also have to remember is that although the camera is the same as found on 3650 the pictures that you take with it look a lot better on the phone due to a vastly improved screen.

In terms of software everything is very similar to the 3650 but in a more polished package it seems.

The thing that stands out most is how small and light this phone really is. And of course the screen is amazing!!! The screen is by far the best ever! I also think this is the first series 60 Nokia phone that looks normal. Keypad is very well spaced out and has a nice click-touch to it. The 6600 probably has the best keypad that I've ever tried. (no funky circle design either

When it comes to sound quality and RF I haven't really yet had a chance to test it. I'm still playing with the phone and discovering its features. One thing I will say that reception is about the same as on my 7250. I get full bars in weak areas.

That's it for now. Once I had a chance to play around with this thing I will report back to you. I will also try to post some pictures.

I'm very happy with the 6600. I'm telling you: best Nokia ever!

If you have any questions please ask.
If you have any questions please ask.
hiya,
- how is the usability of the joystick in comparioson to the 7650?
- how is the quality of the speakers? can you use the phone in free hands-modus? is that loud enough?
- can you post some pics of the new colour shemes?

thx 😊

I've been using Nokia 6600 since June and all I can say that the software is far from finished. There will be some hardware modifications as well. Everything should hopefully be fine at the end of this year.

I wonder if Arthur would care to post pictures of his 6600 from his registered account, rather than as a Guest?

Let me also say that you are a fake.

the mods can check ur IP address and the IP address that the Guest used is the one that u are using

so now why don't you post the pics of 6600 that u got :agrue:

How can people be so ignorant sime times. The phone is not released yet, people with NDA contracts might have them, and it might be available for preorder in some website, but prices will change. So,no fixed price yet.

Ive tried out the 6600, i went on an 1week engineering course for A level students. We went to the Nokia R&D centre in surrey, i even got to play with the NGage phone!

I'm sorry but you're wrong!

:-? the first thing i would do if i have a new unreleased camera phone is to showoff its camera quality... like posting some photos taken with it or sumthin... well... this is definately... FAKE.

he could obviously post some pics taken with the X650... it would be probably the same, or even take some pics with a real camera and blur them to look more rubbish.

If he wants to foul you, he can. Unless he shows us the 6600 case, in which the phone came, or something...
